I'm in the 12:10 start. I've read they've put in an extra mist shower so there's one around 6k and another at 8k. I'll be camping out in there!

Sirzy · 17/05/2014 23:00

Yes I will be much in need of them I think! Got my hat and suncream ready too.

Good luck to GMR runners tomorrow.

Delighted the wanderer has returned orangeflutie

If it's not absolutely boiling by 8am, I might do a little half-marathon run myself.

KristinaM · 18/05/2014 00:22

Well done to all the runners, especially those with new Pbs.

I didn't get a PB at Parkrun today but ran my best time this year ( and last year ) so was pleased. Hopefully this means my HM training has been working, I'm feeling a bit more positive that my target time is achievable next weekend .

Welcome home delinquent cat Smile and well done Dh for finding him

good luck to everyone running tomorrow. Remember to go out slowly and adjust your pace for the heat if necessary.

originalpiratematerial · 18/05/2014 08:31

Good luck Sirzy, melliebobs and anyone else running today!

I've decided finally that I'm NOT going to enter for the Hackney half on 22 June. Feel quite relieved. There is a 5k the day before so I'm going to do that.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/05/2014 10:06

Glad she's home orangeflutie!

Good luck Sirzy and melliebobs, don't envy you the heat it's blimmin warm out there!

Nice to have that peace originalpiratematerial and I'm sure you'll enjoy the 5k.

I did the hoohaah 10k at wimpole hall last year but it's a bit pricey so didn't do it this year (my dad paid last year!) but it's today and I'm quite sad I'm not there. It was very hot last year but I think even warmer today, I was still not recovered from injury last year and got my worst 10k time ever so I'd like to go back again at some point to kick its butt :)

Went out for what was supposed to be 6 miles this morning but little dog still not happy while running so we cut it short as big dog was also getting very hot! 3.5 to add to the total making 768.6

Morrigu · 18/05/2014 11:22

So glad you've got your cat back orangeflutie

Good luck sirzy and melliebobs!

Another 3.3 to add. 771.9 then. Also had planned a longer run but had no sooner started than got killer heartburn which I suppose will teach me to set off for a run on a whim straight after a cup of coffee.

postmanpatscat · 18/05/2014 11:39

Beautiful morning here and I've got 13.1 to add to our mileage, making a nice round 785 miles.

I parked at Kew Bridge and ran along the Thames Path to Putney Bridge and back again, with a little detour past Kew towards Richmond to put that extra mile or so on to make my 21.1km (half-marathon) total. I remembered to bring a bottle of water and had drunk the lot within three minutes of getting back in the car!

originalpiratematerial · 18/05/2014 11:44

3.4 miles from me - so that's 788.4 in total.

What a fab run, postmanpatscat!

I had a pretty shite run - really felt the heat. Will I acclimatise? Please reassure me! And I chose a route down by the river that takes me under lots of trees, thinking it would be cooler there. But the air was full of floating bits of fluffy pollen stuff and it made me wheeze like buggery so I had to stop and spend about five minutes coughing Hmm.

All in all, it's made me glad I've decided not to go for the HM on 22 June. Just too much, I think. Hopefully, when I feel a bit better, I can still continue with the training plan, but without pressurising myself.

officelady · 18/05/2014 11:56

I've been away on a spa weekend but made the most of the gym facilities so I can add another 7.5 miles.
We're up to 795.9

postmanpatscat · 18/05/2014 11:57

Yes, pirate, lots of that fluffy stuff along my route too!

officelady I like your commitment!

CheeseBored · 18/05/2014 12:29

I am marking my place, as need to get motivated....

postmanpatscat · 18/05/2014 13:19

cheese you'll find lots of support and motivation here. We're trying to run 1,500 miles between us before the end of May after we met our 500 mile target in just ten days.

KristinaM · 18/05/2014 13:32

8m from me , it's lovely and cool here

CQ · 18/05/2014 14:36

Checking in for Sirzy's post-race report - she must be done by now but don't know how far she has to travel home. Will have been SO hot running on tarmac at 12.30 today. Hope she was well hydrated.

Ooh, and I did 3.7 miles today - too hot for my hounds today too, Cinnamon so I cut it short for them. Like I need an excuse!

So the total now is 795.9 plus my 3.7 plus KristinaM's 8 which makes 807.6

972 messages though. We definitely talk more than run. Grin

Sirzy · 18/05/2014 15:30

Did it. Took me 1 hr 27 which is 7 mins over what I wanted but in the heat I had to slow down in order to get around.

CQ · 18/05/2014 15:34

WELL DONE SIRZZZZZYYYYYY!!!!!

Bugger the time - you did it!! And it was damned hot out there. Bet the atmosphere was great though.

And if you're not happy with your time - you'll just have to enter another one - quick while you're still filled with adrenalin and euphoria Grin

Blatherskite · 18/05/2014 15:59

It's so hot today, just finishing is an achievement! Well done Sirzy

Even (one of) my crazy runner friend(s) came in over his target time and he's usually unstoppable!

Sirzy · 18/05/2014 15:59

Exactly!

I am doing it again next year, the atmosphere was amazing. I didn't use my music just enjoyed the atmosphere
