As the last thread was filling up, here's a nice new one for parkrunners old and new Smile

All parkrunners are welcome here!

I hope they were kind to you cinnamon. When DH and I went to Sewerby he wasn't planning on running so didn't bother taking his barcode - even so they took his name and he appeared on the results page (much to my annoyance, I still haven't got over the time my barcode didn't scan and I lost a run Grin)

RLAG Temple Newsham is on my hit-list - my parents live within striking distance of you and Roundhay, but I've already done Roundhay Smile

We always write down non scanning barcode and add then in OhOneOhTwoOhThree, we had a telling off because one of the RD's wrote on our fb if you're one of the unknowns please let us know as she wanted to check that they understood the system and had registered but someone took it as we were adding them and wrote a not very nice email to us informing us we weren't to add people who didn't bring their barcodes as it wasn't fair to other parkruns who don't and then get nagged by runners. I added a lady a few weeks ago as it was her 100th, felt too guilty as she comes to us about once a month and always brings it normally!

I just bought my road trainers and my barcode is on my trails but then couldn't print it because there's no printer here. Saved it to my phone in case they were kind :)

27.35 with a teeny tiny bun in the oven?? That's well impressive cinnamon! And number 48 is exciting!

Was such a friendly morning, chatted to people I recognise and met new people too. A lot of the people volunteering are running the same 10k as me later tonight, I'm starting to feel part if a running community now Smile

How was you volunteering ohone?

standingonlego · 23/08/2014 12:19

Sounds like you had a great morning cinnamon - a kind team and a brilliant baby on board time too. I would be delighted with that anyweek!

2 of my parkrun buddies received their 50 and 100 T shirts today which was fab and i finished just behind a dad from school who has PB'ed for the 6th week running :)

Like cinnamonit was number 48 for me today - we are so nearly there and
now I am in serious plotting mode.

Next week - 49 - is fine as we have parkrunning visitors staying for the weekend so will be a gang of us and they clock up a tourist tick.

The week after - the important one - is the first day of hockey - ARGH! DH is away so I am in charge, and I have also foolishly agreed to do "return to hockey" with the mums all season. So my plan....beg a favour of a friend to take kids to hockey, do a slow steady parkrun to hit the magic 50, then dash back to hockey to collect them (and bunk off week 1 of my hockey course!) So that means I get my 50 done, but and am then out of the parkrun clan except for school holidays until Easter as I will be hockey taxi :(

Tourism is going to be tricky for a while OhOne but will happen one day.

For the record...I have not played hockey for 23 years, and I was not much good then but thought it better to join in than stand freezing pitchside for the next 10 years Grin. I have to go buy socks and shinpads Shock

standingonlego · 23/08/2014 12:21

If this plan comes off....it means parkrun 50 Saturday and Wolf Run Sunday

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/08/2014 14:32

X-post cinnamon - glad they were nice to you Smile. We were told this morning that we couldn't accept any non-parkrun barcodes (e.g. the little hugs ones, that have actually been out longer than the official parkrun are no longer allowed).

My volunteering was very nice Thursday, I always enjoy it (maybe because most of my volunteering is in the summer months)

lego standing by for your call for 6 September Grin

New pb here 27.08. That's about 30 seconds faster than two weeks ago.

Well done cinnamon of getting that time with babycinnamonrolls in the oven.

cinnamongreyhound · 23/08/2014 18:37

Mine is a little hugs one OhOneOhTwoOhThree but it always scans without fail. Did they give a reason?

Thanks HalleLouja and well done on your pb.

I thoroughly recommend Redcar to anyone who's that far north! We're actually quite surprised at how far north we are. I actually spoke to a man today that I couldn't understand! After the third time of asking him to repeat what he said I just smiled and nodded!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/08/2014 23:45

cinnamon the RD said that (a) they were getting a new database and the non-PR tokens wouldn't scan; and (b) because PR didn't make any money out of the non-PR tokens they were no longer allowed. Make of that what you will Smile

Checking back in, some really great times! (Scared to name check incase I leave anyone out)

Cinnamon - congratulations on your pregnancy! Hope the sickness doesn't last long.

Kimmi - how's the injury? Hope all ok now.

RE barcodes, was chatting to our RD when scanning and we wondered if getting a tattoo of your barcode would scan?!

Blatherskite · 25/08/2014 22:04

It'd be really annoying if you got one and it didn't Knackerelli Wink

Porthcawl went well. I managed 25:38 which is only 20 seconds off my PB and was 2nd in my age category too! If it weren't for the fact that the drive back was an absolute nightmare, I might be tempted to go back and attempt 1st in my age category one week.

I've never even heard of Little Hugs barcodes and nothing about not being able to take them any more. I'm volunteering next week so I'd better check with the ED!

MelanieCheeks · 27/08/2014 10:53

Planning well ahead for my toruism - I'll be in London on 1st November, staying in Feltham very close to the Crane Park course. Anyone know it?

Blatherskite · 27/08/2014 18:10

Sounds like me Melanie, I have pretty much all of my weekends accounted for until December now Blush

Richmond and a couple of inaugurals are in the diary already. I may now be free on the 6th though....where was the 50th happening?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/08/2014 21:41

6 Sept is possibly lego's 50th Grin. Well within striking distance for you Blathers

Interesting - I have googled little hugs barcodes, and found lots of references to them (many of them parkrun related), but their web site no longer works.

We've been told not to accept barcodes printed on tee-shirts, though the question of a tattoo has never come up Grin

Hello everyone. Back from amazing France now. Too scared to run as I know I am very unfit now and so full of croissants and rose!! But may change my mind by Saturday. Well done everyone on your excellent times....

Blatherskite · 28/08/2014 09:08

Isn't lego Northampton? That's where I was supposed to be going anyway Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/08/2014 19:42

Aha! Then we have a pre-Wolef meet up, as I am planning to go too (as long as lego is!) Smile

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 28/08/2014 20:18

Win! Right then, if lego is there, I shall be too.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/08/2014 22:46
