Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

Feeling a bit under the weather with a cold so dropped back to level one for a day to work my way into it again after a week off.
still look like an agitated aubergine at the end of it though!
I will finish level 3 this week, I will....

WillColbert · 14/10/2013 15:39

L2D10 done. So it's L3 for me tomorrow. Had a quick look at what it involves - looks tricky but I will give it a go.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/10/2013 15:45

Well done both of you!

Yes well done, I haven't even got as far as looking at L3 yet.

Did L2 again this morning, have made a solemn vow to be on L3 this time next week.

How's it going Zing?

Hi everyone,

Zing I hope you're feeling better and that you are coping with some not so nice memories. I suffered a miscarriage in between DS1 and DD. Everyone experiences grief differently so I can't pretend to know how you felt but you do have my sympathy x

Well I did L2 D2 today. It is hard isn't it? I am dripping by the end - nice! My balance is rubbish but I'm hoping it will improve. I do quite like the yoga, plank type stuff. Squat thrusts are killers though! My body is visibly changing though which is great. I wish I'd taken measurements now!

Happy shredding everyone!

WillColbert · 15/10/2013 09:27

Good morning all! Just finished L3D1 - very hard even though I did 'Anita' moves on all the plank/push up/ab exercises.

wasabi - I really struggled with balance at the start of L2 but it got much better by D5/6.

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement. I had the DVD over a year before I started it - if it wasn't for threads like this it would still be in the wrapper.

Hang on in there!

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2013 10:05

L1D9 of Ri30 done and dog walked. I thought I might have a run but he didn't want to that's my excuse.

Day 10 of ripped level 2 done this morning. I'm also, as of yesterday, doing MFP set at 1200 cals a day. I couldn't decide which diet to do so I'm going to eat healthily and cut down on the red wine.

WillColbert · 16/10/2013 09:20

L3D2 done. How's everyone else getting on?

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2013 10:44

L1D10 of Ri30 done. Had a look through L2 - some of the moves look, uh, interesting!

Bumpotato · 16/10/2013 10:48

In Ripped level 2 I just cannot do the second strength exercise in the second set. It's a table and bum lift. I ended up substituting it because my arms simply aren't long enough for the lift bit.

NotQuitePerfect · 16/10/2013 11:02

L2, day 4 done. Managed to do all the press-ups in circuit one so very happy with that, also did the full 'skater' jumps like naughty Natalie in the cardio bit of circuit 2.

Feel like I'm getting stronger and developing core strength but I cannot in all honesty say that there is any evidence of this in the way my body actually looks Sad.

ElleBelly · 16/10/2013 13:56

Sorry to jump in ladies, need some advice a d motivati

ElleBelly · 16/10/2013 13:59

Oops stupid phone. Advice and motivation! Have just done day2 of the shred, and my legs and bum are killing me, I'm struggling to climb the stairs and got serious jelly legs. I'm walking like I've crapped myself. Any tips? Is this normal? Does it get better or is this it for 30 days?! The actual workout I find okay, but now I'm a wreck! Thankyou in advance!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2013 14:03

Elle - yes, that's entirely normal for the first 3-4 days, then it eases off and should be ok thereafter even when you go up to L2 and 3. Make sure you do really good stretches at the end - top tip is to hold onto something when you do the quad stretch, its hard to do it properly balanced on one leg. So just push on through for a few more days, then its worth carrying on so that your legs never have to feel like that again!

wasabipeanut · 16/10/2013 14:26

Elle I actually had to take ibuprofen the day after I first did L1. I did it in the evening and woke up the next day a virtual cripple. Stairs and kneeling to change DS2 were murder. Eased off over 3-4 days as Errol says. Stick with it! I'm seeing results and I am only a couple of weeks ahead of you.

Did L2D3 this morning. Notquite well done on the press ups and skater jumps! I can manage the press ups but my skater jumps are somewhere between naughty Natalie.& Anita's! I did however manage 2 full sets if those plank jacks this morning for the first time - DH was downstairs & I wanted to look hard Grin

Does anyone else feel a bit stiff in the evenings? I shred first thing and move around all day - housework, school run , sorting 3 x DC's etc. and when I actually sit down I've been a bit ouchy - round the shoulders especially. It's all this plank stuff probably.

Btw when I say I'm seeing results it's not miracle stuff but my belt buckle now needs the tightest setting. My stones h looks a little less sticky outy (flat is still some way off I fear) and my legs look slimmer in tights and skinnies. An old shirt isn't pulling as much at bust level either. So I will keep up my daily torture!

Btw has anyone done JM's yoga DVD? Was thinking I might try after the shred.

wasabipeanut · 16/10/2013 14:31

That should be stomach not stones btw!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2013 15:17

I'm finding that with the change of season, a couple of jackets which were definitely tight around the tum (one really wouldn't do up properly last year) are now fitting much better. Smile

Thank you ladies, will persevere with it. Might lurk on here for more advice despite being a beginner!

ErrolTheDragon · 16/10/2013 15:40

Everyone was a beginner not long ago, Elle!

OP posts:
WillColbert · 16/10/2013 16:11

Ellie - another one here encouraging you to stick with it. What works for me is doing it at the same time every day - then I treat it as a normal part of my routine and don't question whether I feel like doing it or not. I've also seen good results - nothing drastic but my limbs are more toned and my waist is more defined and I feel fitter/stronger. Stomach is slightly less wobbly but nothing short of a tummy tuck and cake embargo is realistically going to make it flat (and I'm not prepared to do either of those Halloween Grin ).
You also get a good sense of achievement when you finally manage to do a move that seemed impossible a few days ago.

ElleBelly · 16/10/2013 16:58

Thanks Will, have done it during DS morning nap last two days, but would like to get up early to do it so it gets it out the way! I used to be very fit and healthy but two DC's and a few years of a stressful job that didn't leave much time for exercise have taken their toll. It's the squats and lunges that I'm finding hard, but determined to carry on. Jumping jacks not so good for my pelvic floor either but working on that too!

deeplybaffled · 16/10/2013 23:54

Really not doing well with this atm, got to day 26 and just seem to be stuck. Poorly Monday, so re did a day from level 1 but with weights for some of the cardio. Think it was a mistake as felt like death on a stick yesterday, so did nothing.
badminton league match tonight, and another tomorrow, so earliest opportunity for shred will be Friday.
I know the badminton counts as exercise, and that's the important thing, but still feeling the no shred guilt:(
