Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

Evening! How is everyone's weekend going?

I'm so disappointed in myself, haven't done the shred for over a week because I lost motivation.

Went to do it today and started at L1 and I couldn't even complete the 2nd circuit as came over all dizzy and faint. Going to re- attempt tomorrow

ZingDollyChops · 20/10/2013 19:00

burning

I'm restarting tomorrow.
you and me, we can do it together, what do you say?Wink

deeplybaffled · 20/10/2013 21:46

Don't give up! I'm battling through level 3 in a very stop start manner, but consoling myself that stop start is better than nothing at all, so it must be worth carrying on...:)

WillColbert · 21/10/2013 09:10

Good morning all. L3D5 done. After the first few days of L3 I started to have a few problems with my foot (old running injury) so I've had to take it easy on the jumps in circuit 3.

Good luck burning and zing with the restart - always hard to get going after a break but I'm sure you'll be back into the routine in no time.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2013 10:06

L2D3 or Ri30 done.

NotQuite - sounds like a great day!

to say Hi Shredders Wine

Haven't shredded in over a week now :( got to L1D7 and put my bloody back out :( :( sodding sciatica (long standing due to damaged discs) has had me out of action since, it's feeling a bit better but I can now feel something's wrong higher up and will probably need a MRI

I was/am so pissed off that I got through the first few days of torture pain and will now have to do it all over again, once I can actually walk properly,of course.

Keep up the good work ladies.

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2013 18:46

Frogs - oh, what a shame. Hope it doesn't take too long to get better. Flowers

Yes that sounds awful frogs - you must be feeling very frustrated, please don't be hard on yourself.

Errol yes it was a lovely weekend and thank goodness I did Shred on Saturday, feel like the whole of the rest of the weekend was spent eating and lolling about.

I don't Shred on Sunday but should have been back in the swing today. The plan was to dog-walk early with 2 pals then come back to Shred/shower - this routine works well for me and I love getting exercise out of the way early. But the weather was so dreadful today we opted for mid-morning cakes & coffee (half term here) rather than rain drenched walk. Once DS was ferried to work there was no 'slot' to Shred, and I just can't do it later in the day! Really must do it tomorrow - off to Madrid for a few days with DH on Wed so no opp to exercise though plan to walk everywhere.

So, fellow worshippers at the altar of JM, I hope to be fully back with you all next Monday 28th, when no doubt I will be back on L1! Wink

Good luck and hope not everybody gets as easily de-railed by half term as I seem to!

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/10/2013 19:26

I have the shred. Every now and then I attempt it but don't seem to make it past the first set of star jumps before I have to sit down and give up.

Is there a pre-shred DVD?

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/10/2013 19:31

TBH, it isn't the star jumps that kill me, it is the other stuff and the star jumps kind of like the last straw.

I tried the strength stuff without weights and it appears I cannot support my own hands Confused

And as for the push ups, are they having a friggin laugh? I can't even hold the starting position let alone lower my body up and down.

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/10/2013 19:32

I can only conclude that the shred is aimed at PE teachers or summat right?

What might be better for me?

ZingDollyChops · 21/10/2013 19:40

frogs

you poor thing, that's crap! so sorry you are in pain.Sad Thanks

starlight

do read back if you want to see how I could not do L1D1 without stopping every 2 minutes!
jumping jacks are vile.
but by day 6 I was actually ok, I only stopped twice!

I had to stop and as kids have fallen ill I haven't been able to get back to it just yet, but even if I wobble again, it's worth just getting through it, any which way you can!

the warming up and cooling off are very important, but if you only manage 5 or 10 mins the first time so what?
You'll get better, stronger, fitter. it is not supposed to be easy!Wink

so go on, push yourself and see what you can manage!
posting here you'll get a record of your progress and I bet in a week or two you'll be wondering how you ever had a problem! Wink Wink

just do it! you can do it!

StarlightMcKenzie · 21/10/2013 19:43

I suppose anything is something. But I feel a failure before I have started.

In the past (when young) I have got through strenuous exercise by having a bit to drink beforehand. Then I feel invincible and can run a couple of miles.

I'm guessing this isn't recommended here though!!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2013 20:09

Starlight - the recommended pre-shred drink is Brew not Wine - seriously, caffeine is supposed to help a bit so coffee or a tea or three!

I can only conclude that the shred is aimed at PE teachers or summat right?
Ummm no, I'm 52 and was fed up hearing myself whine about having no discernible upper body strength as my 14yo DD gradually got stronger and stronger because she was doing stuff!

I couldn't do press-ups at all to start with, had to do 'wall pressups' (google and you'll find youtubes) - now after 2 full rounds of shred and into ripped I can just about do the knee ones.

Just do a bit, stop for 5 (or more) seconds, do a bit more...

failure - schmailure, don't even go there!

I'm no expert but maybe you could do 4 jumping jacks then jog on the spot for 4, then repeat.

and push ups - do what errol said.
I have incredibly weak wrists (and suffer from recurring tendonitis) - I do the knee version and keep changing "width" of my hands so I don't strain my wrists.

I've not yet done the push ups without stopping.
it doesn't matter.
you don't have to prove anything to anyone - it's yourself you need to do this for!
(and also because I'm a bossy boots and I urge you to!Grin )

I hope you give it a go. fx!

ElleBelly · 21/10/2013 21:43

Did Day 6 Shred today, skipped Saturday as DS had me up all night! ( don't feel as though I was properly focused today though as had to interrupt in middle to rock him back to sleep!) and four year old Dd watched and giggled through most of it, and had the cheek to tell me "you don't look like those ladies mummy!" Aargh I know!
My biggest problem (sorry tmi coming) is my pelvic floor with the star jumps...I just can't safely do them without risking an accident! So I do the arms but run on spot instead. And try to remind myself about pelvic floor exercises each time I'm bfeeding!
Am very impressed with all you committed ladies.

ZingDollyChops · 21/10/2013 22:23

Elle Grin at your cheeky girl!

you are determined too, I'm impressed!
(you could use a pad maybe?)

ElleBelly · 21/10/2013 22:45

I might have to until things improve.Whole body needs an overhaul!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/10/2013 23:15

I noticed a poster recently called DoYourKegels. She should post more often as a public service Grin

L2D4 of Ri30 done.

Does anyone else have shoulders that audibly creak when doing backwards windmills?

OP posts:
ElleBelly · 22/10/2013 09:29

Is Ri30 harder than the Shred?! Two good things happened this morning, one) I noticed Natalie cheating when the scary one wasn't looking. Two) I didn't pee myself. Hurrah!

ZingDollyChops · 22/10/2013 09:31

Errol

maybe an osteopath can sort that.

Elle

Grin @ body overhaul!
I feel like a car that's taken in for a service, but the mechanic just keeps circling it, poking, umming and shaking his head.
and you know it's going to cost you!Grin Grin Grin

I'm writing the book of excuses.
today's extract: DD up most of the night (teething and it's the molars), DS3 also up twice (fever).
I'm so tired. I'm having a nap today.

sorry everyone. I'm more of a cheering crowd nowadays.Blush

ZingDollyChops · 22/10/2013 09:32

Elle

x-post

that's fantastic! you go girl!Wink

ElleBelly · 22/10/2013 09:41

Better to rest when you have to than burn out I reckon. Thankyou for the cheering, it is a big help! You know you can do it, you've done L2 before havent you...I bet that's going to be a butt kicker!

ZombieZing · 22/10/2013 15:06

Elle

I wish! Grin

I made it to L1D6. so as soon as I can I'll restart, but I will start at day 1 again.
