Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

Is Ri30 harder than the Shred?!
yes, I think so - that is, I'd say L1 is similar to L2 of shred.

Thanks guys!
I'm trying to stay positive but it's difficult sometimes - I've 'managed' this for 18 years - never let it stop me doing anything (unless it wipes me out and I end up stuck lying in bed :) )

My specialist says I can exercise but to be sensible not my greatest attribute so after another MRI to check again I WILL BE BACK :)

On the plus side - MRI won't be too long, unlike the UK I don't need to go through the malarky of seeing the GP then being referred and having to wait for an appt - here I can simply call my insurer, tell them what I want and go within a few days - simples :)

BurningAsh · 22/10/2013 17:42

Zing - you're doing a fab job or cheering everyone on, and I know it's so difficult when you've had no sleep. Give it a shot tomorrow and we'll get you back on the shredding journey

I've restarted now, managed yesterday and today on L1

deeplybaffled · 22/10/2013 22:21

Another shredder has bitten the dust...got acute torticollis, which means my head feels too heavy for my neck, which is complaining bitterly.
bit gutted as was hoping to finish my 30 days before I went on holiday this weekend - planning to start again from the beginning when I get back in the hope of losing the holiday pounds before the Christmas pounds get added...
see you all on a November shred thread?

ZombieZing · 22/10/2013 22:43

deeply I hope your condition will improve soon.
have a great holiday!

deeplybaffled · 22/10/2013 23:52

Thanks, zing, sure it will as I've had it before, it's just rubbish timing! You honestly don't realise how heavy your head is until the muscles that hold it up start to object - it makes sitting up or turning over in bed a full scale mission!
oh well, that's my excuse for not being bikini- ready and I'm sticking to it:)

conquita · 23/10/2013 01:24

I'm back in the game laydeez [note IN the game, not on it] I restarted level 2 today and will continue every day this week. Plan to start level 3 next week. I have not shredded for oooh 14 days and found level 2 surprisingly not as hard as I expected! oooh get me! keep it up everybody, this is a great support honestly, and I am never weighing myself ever again...

WillColbert · 23/10/2013 09:47

Sorry to hear some of my fellow shredders are having problems. Definitely agree though - better to rest than force yourself through exercise and risk further damage (voice of bitter experience).
L3D7 done. Sports bra underwire popped through during the workout which added a new element of danger to the jumping jacks!

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2013 09:55

deeply - that sounds nasty - hope it doesn't spoil your holiday.

welcome back ash and conquita , and well done will, nearly through!

L2D5 of Ri30 done. Managed standing on one leg for a while once I realised that part of my wobble is because I'm a bad overpronator so I stood with the inside of my foot on the rug so it was just that little bit more supported.

OP posts:
conquita · 23/10/2013 23:11

Sorry to hear of the injuries and thank you for the welcome back.
Level 2 done again this morning, I realised I have been doing the static lunge move incorrectly, I always keep one leg static and move the other one back and forth. I realised today you are supposed to take turns making each leg static, if that makes sense. Tomorrow is the last session of level 2 god willing.

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2013 10:00

L2D6 of Ri30 done.

Conquita - I don't suppose it matters too much with the lunge so long as you do the other leg on the second set - quite a lot of the moves do work that way anyway.

ElleBellySkellington · 24/10/2013 10:32

Just done day9 level one,(without the DVD as dd monopolising tv and have to take opportunity while ds asleep. But worrying I know it off by heart already!) I still find the side lunges hard going! I'm just so uncoordinated that anything with two movements at once just confuses my addled brain. When am I supposed to move onto level 2... Is it loads harder?

ErrolTheDragon · 24/10/2013 11:28

Well done Elly

When am I supposed to move onto level 2... Is it loads harder?

most people do 10 days per level but its up to you. I wouldn't have said it was that much harder, except that some of the moves are a bit more complicated so I'd suggest you look at it first and get the feel of some of them before you try it for real.

ElleBellySkellington · 24/10/2013 11:45

Hmm thankyou good tip. Will have a bash on Saturday then!

WillColbert · 24/10/2013 14:49

L3D8 done (and new sports bra purchased!). Almost there!

Elle I really struggled with the co-ordination on those side lunges too. I moved on to L2 after 10 days. It is a step up but I stuck to the 'Anita' moves and that helped.

conquita · 24/10/2013 23:24

Level 2 done and dusted. Level 3 here we come Smile
I swear the 1st circuit of level 2 is the hardest bit. I also realised today I have been doing that static lunge move correctly, I think it is Jillian that does it differently to Anita and Natalie. I follow Anita and Nat.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/10/2013 11:15

Well done Conquita!

L2D7 of Ri30 done.

WillColbert · 26/10/2013 08:51

Drumroll .... L3D10 completed! I have been shredded!

I'm away for a few days but I'm going to start again from the beginning when I get back. The plan is that I will do more 'Natalie' moves next time round.

Thanks Errol for starting this thread and to everyone for their support and encouragement - it really helped.

See you on the November Shred thread!

conquita · 28/10/2013 04:51

Fantastic news well done Will!! Have you noticed any difference in your shape since day 1? I will start level 3 tomorrow god willing!

Errol, how many levels are on ripped? I am planning on starting that after the 30 day shred.

ErrolTheDragon · 28/10/2013 09:59

Conquita, there are 4 levels on ripped; the advice is a week on each level (where a week is 5-6 days with 1 or 2 rest days) but I decided to do 2 weeks ie 10 days on each.

However, this week being half term I've decided I'm having a holiday from both ripped and 5:2 - I might drop in and cheer but otherwise, see you next week on the November thread which one of you will need to start. Smile

Hello, long-time lurker here! I'm so inspired by those of you who are on level 3 or who have completed the shred, you give me hope that it is possible! I've just completed level 2, day 3 and I'm sooooo sore. This level seems much harder than the first, though I suppose that's the idea. Tell me level 2 gets easier the same way level 1 did? I need to know it's going to be ok! Any encouragement or stories of success would be gratefully received...

ElleBellySkellington · 28/10/2013 19:47

Well done all of you completing your shreds and ripped! I did Shred Day 11 today (second day of level 2) after two days off over weekend. Oops! I'm finding level 2 difficult, but a lot to do with my lack of balance and coordination! I enjoy the skating cardio bit but the squat thrusts are miserable!

wasabipeanut · 29/10/2013 14:25

Hi again all

Sorry I've been absent lately - been bloody manic with work/relatives/half term etc. Sorry to see we've had some injuries and old conditions flaring up. I wish all those affected a swift recovery.

Well amazingly I have stuck to the shred and started L3. Did day 2 this morning. Jesus, I thought I was going to die. I have found the jumps between levels really hard. However I didn't start aching again with L2. This time my arms, stomach and muscles really deep inside my body ache! I never thought I'd make it this far though frankly so I'm not bloody giving up now!

Am also thinking of life after the shred. Am ordering a JM boxed set off Amazon with RI30, Killer buns and one other I can't remember. Also getting some 2Kg weights.

I do feel a lot better overall but last time I checked had gained 3lbs. Hey ho. Am hoping its increased muscle not the result of being a bit lax with carbs. Will check again at the end!

Hope everyone has a good shreddy day Halloween Smile

wasabipeanut · 29/10/2013 14:28

Elle Squat thrusts are evil! I used to do the first set Anita style and the second Natalie style. Wait until you hit the "mountain climber" in L3.....Wink

wasabipeanut · 29/10/2013 14:29

And yes Seasalt L2 does get more manageable after a few days!
