Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

ZingWantsCake · 01/10/2013 21:01

and thank you!

I'll wobble in to say hello. I got to L2D4 in August and then came off the wagon and shredded for the first time in 5 or 6 weeks on Sunday. I did zumba yesterday so didn't shred as well. I am planning on shredding later tonight but am currently full of sausage and mash so am going to to an hour's ironing and then see how I feel. Vague plan is to shred from 10.00, have a quick shower & then collapse into bed.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/10/2013 22:08

wasabi:

Is it safe to do it day in day out? Don't you need a rest in between?

I've been doing it every weekday, with the weekend off. But I would think if you really feel you need a rest day more often to start with then it'd be better to do that until you feel a bit fitter, than to decide its too hard and not do it at all.

Nightlark - sounds like your kids are enjoying it too! Grin

Weetabix - let us know how it went (if it did yet!)

Had meant to do level 3, day 3 today, but feeling wiped out - suspect that the cold I thought I'd got rid of is back. So much for vitamin c tablets! So am also taking a scenic route through level 3, hoping tomorrow will kick me back on to it.

WillColbert · 01/10/2013 22:42

I did L2D1 today. I'm enjoying it and am feeling fitter, but I'm not seeing results yet in terms of a more toned body. I know I'm being really impatient but at what stage do people generally start to notice an effect? I'm not expecting to get Natalie's abs but would appreciate anyone telling me about their positive results to keep my motivation up.

conquita · 02/10/2013 00:47

Day 3 level 2 done. For those on level 2, how far do you bring your knees in when you jump back and forth in plank position? I envisage I am doing delicate bunny hops, however the reality is far from it [I swear I feel the house shake]. Also, after the workout it is great to see a nice definition in the abs area of the stomach, but the ego deflates by evening when that area is filled out again from too much chocolate salad. 7 more days to go and then level 3 here we come!

TrucksAndDinosaurs · 02/10/2013 03:53

I am popping in to say well done zing! And to share gossip: Natalie did not appear on later JM videos because was discovered to have appeared nude in a saucy DVD!

conquita · 02/10/2013 07:35

I knew there was something well dodge about my girl Nat but I couldn't put my finger on it....

ZingWantsCake · 02/10/2013 07:39

quick question: am I supposed to do level 1 for 30 days, then move on to level 2?

trucks thanks!

I'm looking forward to excersice today!

conquita · 02/10/2013 07:45

10 days on level 1, 10 days on level 2 and then 10 days on level 3 Zing Woop Woop Smile!

wasabipeanut · 02/10/2013 08:49

Morning everyone :) and thanks Errol . Will have a rest day on Sunday probably.

So I managed last night and this morning. It does hurt a bit though - especially my right knee for some reason. And my thighs. Going up and down stairs and kneeling to change 15 mo DS2 is rather painful. Hey ho - 6 pack here I come!

And as for that Natalie - what a saucy minx. Shock

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2013 09:17

zing - I did 10 days per level, but some people do more (or less). You certainly don't need to get all the moves perfectly nat-style before moving on.

conquita - ' how far do you bring your knees in when you jump back and forth in plank position?' - as far as I could, I guess!

will - I noticed changes to my arms and legs during the first round of L1 - but it probably depends where you're starting from.

wasabi - finding stairs a pain for the first 3-4 days of L1 is normal. Joint pain in the knee is another matter, if there's something that you think is particularly bad for it then try to do some lower impact alternative.

WillColbert · 02/10/2013 09:45

Thanks Errol. You are right about the arm improvements - I hadn't noticed that as I probably focus on my stomach as that is my problem area. To be fair though I noticed during today's session (L2D2) that it is wobbling less during the cardio. I'm really enjoying Level2 but can still only do the modified moves for the plank exercises. I had to give up running a few months ago because of an injury and its great to find a workout that I can do. Really enjoying reading everyone's updates.

ZingWantsCake · 02/10/2013 10:45

I think I'll need more tham 10 days bit we'll see.

L1D2 done.

I stopped less today, despite using the small hand weights!

I could feel my shoulders today.

Abs are fun! DD sits on my tummy and laughs at me as each time I sit up I blow her a kiss - she is the world's youngest personal trainer!
(madmoiselle is 17 m old)

I definitely need heavier weights.
How's everyone doing?

and thanks for all encouragementThanks, I really need it!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2013 10:47

L3D10 done - and this time I managed the first set and most of the second set of walking planks nat-style! And the rest of it better too - except the first set abs - those lower-ab ones (pike and scissors) are horrible, it feels like I'll strain my back if I try to get my legs at all low.

Just flicked through the first level of Ripped in 30 so I've got an idea of what I've let myself in for tomorrow...

BTW, the ripped dvd actually advises at the start to do 5-6 days per week with a day or two rest, which is what I'd been assuming for the 30ds anyway so that's good - you don't need to feel any guilt about having a couple of days off, on the contrary! Smile

Vagazzled · 02/10/2013 10:50

L1D2 for me, chest and arms are a little achy but much better than the other times I've started! Smile

MyNameIsWinkly · 02/10/2013 13:22

L1D2 for me as well, with 2.3kg hand weights. They're a bit much for the raises with side lunges, I can't quite do all of them, but I could do more with the lying down ones. Feel a bit tired and floppy today.

ZingWantsCake · 02/10/2013 13:40

winkly I struggle with the 0.5 kg weights!

wasabipeanut · 02/10/2013 13:59

Well done everyone. I think we all deserve big pats on the back - even if our arms ache!

I bought some 1Kg weights this morning - upgrading from my bean tins. They feel really heavy. Bit scared about tomorrow....

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2013 14:02

winkly - 2.3kg is about 5lb, that's what I mostly used, but 3kg for the chest flies (and bicep curls in l2) - but I've just got a pair of 1.5 as I really wasn't doing some of the moves properly with the 5lbers. Took me a while to realise that trying to use too big a weight isn't a good idea.

I've got a 10lber for the L3 squat and clean or whatever its called - the one with only one weight. The dog can't sit on his favourite chair any more, its covered in assorted dumbbells! Grin

OP posts:
MyNameIsWinkly · 02/10/2013 14:19

Errol I can nearly do all the raises, so will perservere with the 2.3kg for those. I do have a heavier set and a lighter set - I bought a 3 pair set years and years ago, getting it home on the bus was interesting! - so I'll dig it out from under the bed so I can switch around as necessary. Poor chairless dog! :)

Evening all. Have been lurking for a while and have been intending to start a good few times but dcs taking a long time to settle at night kept providing handy excuses!!
Long story slightly shorter, I've just done L1D1 and owwwwwww would some it up. Struggled to complete jumping jacks and some of the ab exercises but quite happy with myself all in all.
Kinda glad I used filled water bottles as weights now. Need the drink. Definitely hoping to keep going!
