Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

School managed to put me off sport forever
Forever is a long time - you may yet find that a DC develops an interest in an activity which hooks you! I'd have never thought I'd start windsurfing at ~50! Grin Doing a round of the shred you're obviously getting into good shape if you can do full press-ups Envy so maybe once you've done it you can find something you find more enjoyable.

Wasabi, I felt like you about school and sport then discovered I loved waterskiing!

NightLark · 08/10/2013 14:36

L3D4 just done - this is considerably more fun that L2 of the Shred (which I didn't get on with at all). But my t-shirt was in the wash (too much exercise!) so I did it in sports bra and yoga pants.

Which meant I could see my belly. Oh dear lord. It moves all on it's own. It hangs down and flobs out. It has creases and folds and I swear my belly button was positioned almost over my hip at one point...

I used to have a flat, toned belly and now look! Three pregnancies later and it is like lard. On the plus side, my new skirt, which was an inch off fastening, kept twisting round yesterday to sit backwards it is so loose!

DorisShuttAgainstGhosts · 08/10/2013 16:26

Oooh Nightlark! I have the same issue with my thighs. They wibble, wobble and generally do things independently of me. And when I do jumping jacks, my arse cheeks give me a round of applause Blush

DS woke up just after I posted and I was actually getting changed to shred, so there went that plan. If I do it in the morning, I'd have to get up at 5 to get it done in piece, so I can't see it happening. However, eating dinner with DS in about 15 minutes, so then will do it when DH does the bedtime stories. Honest Blush

NightLark · 08/10/2013 19:36

Hope you're Shredding ,Doris! Agree re 5 am, actually manage 6ish some days but always end up with appreciative audience of small children anyway, sigh.

Bumpotato · 08/10/2013 21:02

There's a lot to be said for doing it as soon in the day as you can. The longer the day goes on, the larger my case of cantbearseditis is.

ZingWantsCake · 08/10/2013 21:18

bump I agree! it's a contagious disease too!Grin

I'm feeling better today (and thanks for sympathy yesterday!) and planning to do L1D6 tomorrow.
If I get up at 7am and do it straight away, I shall be finished, showering and all before MrZing leaves and I have to take over.

and just to update on the weights from Amazon (should anyone care) they emailed us last week that there's another delay and I can expect delivery in November! Shock Grin

I don't think so!
We cancelled the order, I went on Ebay and bought a set of weights (2 each of 1kg, 2kg & 3kg) with a stand.
that should be fine for a while!

also bought a second hand Enell bra - I can't wait for all these things to arrive!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/10/2013 22:42

Odd about your weights - I ordered mine via amazon but they were really from Sports Direct and arrived in a couple of days.

Sounds like that should be a good set though.

Day 6 level 2 done, 2 more to go. I cannot do double skip rope jumps. If I do them, I have to pause in between each one, yet the girls keep jumping up and down. So I am going to continue doing single jumps like in level 1.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/10/2013 10:00

L1D5 of Ri30, and 20 mins rowing. Feels good. Got to get cleaned up for visit to optician... wish there were eye exercises which would prevent developing long-sightedness!

Wasabi - I don't think the two workouts a day are recommended, and think you're right in saying I might be overdoing it. I did the second workout yesterday and my shins are really sore today

Just completed L1 D8 though, and think will be sticking to 1 workout a day

wasabipeanut · 09/10/2013 12:47

Checking in after doing day 8 this morning. Errol and potato you are of course both right. Actually your forever is a long time comment really made me think. It seems a shame to let horrible childhood sport experiences put me off for life. I also agree that if I want to stay in good health (and mobile) for as long as possible then exercise is a Pre req. I'm only 40 but my fathers death from lung cancer last year has triggered some serious examination of my lifestyle habits - hence starting this gig.

Doris I did laugh at the thought of your arse cheeks applauding you Grin

Nightlark I hear ya - 3 pregnancies have taken their toll here although I never had a really flat toned belly to miss ;)

ZingWantsCake · 09/10/2013 15:27

L1D6 done!

I'm so proud of myself! I almost gave up of doing this today as I still feel wobbly, but I went for it and I was fine!

in fact my beautiful weight set arrived this morning so I did the static lounge biceps with 1kg, then 2kg weights for 2nd repeat.
also the floor one with the 3 kg weights!
what a difference!

so happy! Smile (shower & Brew )

conquita · 09/10/2013 23:49

Level 2 day 7 done. Used 1.5 kilo weights instead of the 1kilos I have been using, rock 'n' roll!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2013 09:17

L1D6 of Ri30 - I'm going to do 10 days for each of its 4 levels like bump I think. It feels good when you can do some of the moves with bigger weights, doesn't it?

WillColbert · 10/10/2013 09:27

That's L2D8 completed. I'm surprised that I've managed to stick with it but I am actually enjoying it. Plus I'm definitely feeling fitter/more toned. This thread is helping - good to hear how everyone's getting on.

wasabipeanut · 10/10/2013 10:54

Go Zi-ing Go Zi-ing! hope you're feeling good today too :)

L1D9 complete - last day on L1 tomorrow, weekend off then hit L2 on Monday.

Am scared about L2 because none of you seem to like it very much! Mind you I am definitely feeling slimmer and have lost a pound. My legs in particular look better - showed them in a shortish skirt, opaque tights and ankle boots (plus huge winter coat as its bloody freezing) this morning and felt darned good!

ErrolTheDragon · 10/10/2013 11:22

I liked some of L2 more than L1 - I don't think its scary. Just take a look through to look at the moves before you try to do them.

Such a nice morning here I went for my little walk/trot along the canal. Smile

ZingWantsCake · 10/10/2013 11:46

wasabi you too! well done for showing off those pretty legs!

will I agree. this thread definitely helps - probably the only true fit for the phrase "healthy competition"!Smile

I really want to carry on today, but I feel very dizzy again and I think I will have to have nap instead so I will manage till bedtime.

conquita · 10/10/2013 23:30

I really like level 2 too! At first I hated it, but I have warmed to it as I have gone on. Alas, I did not shred today, I think a combo of shredding 3 days in a row and walking an hour home from work each day has tired me out. I will try and Shred on Sunday as it is my last session on level 2. yesterday I received ripped in 30, so I am all set after the shred is finished. no excuses! This thread has been a great help to keep this up, I am not losing weight, but feel fantastic and this thread keeps up my morale.

frogslegs35 · 11/10/2013 08:11

Hi everyone,

Thought I'd come and join you all.
I'm doing the shred, I'm on L1D5 and Jesus!! it's a killer. Jillian is a fecking demonic slave driver, isn't she? I'm starting to like her now though, I actually hated her on day 1 :)

I'm finding it a little easier with each day but can't do the press ups nor can I imagine I ever will :(
I posted another thread about the calf pain I was experiencing and was kindly reassured that this won't make them increase in size. They were causing me the most aches, muscles really sore and tight but its starting to ease a little today.
I haven't even looked at L2 or L3 yet - I'm scared :)

Keep up the good work ladies x

frogslegs35 · 11/10/2013 08:28

MrsFireman

An exercise I call the 'cat vomit' really helped me after having DC.
It's gentle but effective and is for the very muscles you need to strengthen. If you feel any pain or discomfort what so ever, then stop.

Hands and knees on the floor - while staying in the position - push your back upwards as much as you can and now try to suck your tummy button to your spine and hold for as long as you comfortably can then release - straighten your spine to the starting position and repeat.

Start very gently - holding for 5/10 secs and repeat 10 times then begin to increase it.

NotQuitePerfect · 11/10/2013 09:16

Back on L2 hurrah!

DH had just returned from the gym when I started so he sat watching me with his coffee. He said I looked really good &, more importantly, that I was doing the exercises properly (ie. position wise). That made me feel good as I often think I'm not in the correct position (feet, back). It's hard to concentrate and check your position sometimes isn't it?

Jillian does grow on you doesn't she? Tho I think I know every single word of L1 & L2 now, I could say them in my sleep.

Wrt press-ups. I used to find them completely impossible but can now do about 5 properly. They're bloody hard though Smile

frogslegs35 · 11/10/2013 09:26

Well done Not
reassuring to know about the press ups, I'll persevere. I think it's my arms/shoulders aren't strong enough to take my full weight?? because I can plank quite well on my arms and hold for ages.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/10/2013 09:38

Frogs - 'cat vomit' is such a brilliant description of that exercise! Grin
After doing shred twice through I can do the press-ups on my knees - will hopefully get to the full military-style sometime! But I couldn't do them at all at the start, had to do wall press-ups instead, and gradually work down. Good you can plank, you need that in L2/3!

Not - great you've got a supportive DH!

Anyway, L1D7 of Ri30 done.
