Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

was just struggling to recall who called me a mad cow - but I can't for the life of me recall why now...

funny day here - chaos in patches, but fine at other times. But I am feeling a bit beset - I am quite a solitary person and am feeling the loss of that.

DD2 cluster fed for about 2 hours this afternoon and then chucked up all over DP - she's a bit of a piggy if truth be told, but she's doing great, despite her vile snotty cold. Her skin is very dry and flaky due to continuous heating (dreading the bill) so I basted her in olive oil earlier - as per hv advice...seems to have helped

as I said above, dying to get out for my 7-8 miles tomorrow. I had not anticipated quite how much I would miss it - desperate to be doing a training plan, aiming for something...maintenance is killing me! I think over xmas week I might commandeer some of DP's family to call in and entertain DD1 visit so that I can run. Hopefully we will see some kind of routine emerging soon - then I'll be able to get out a bit more often

have made a very long list for xmas - have done nothing other than order toys for DD1 and DN...well tree is up, and cake made, but that's about it Xmas Biscuit

rhetorician · 18/12/2011 19:06

the santa biscuit looks a bit freaky - like santa only has one eye...

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 19:13

Sorry for posting time then pissing off! Been to see Arthur's Christmas and ate my body weight in popcorn.

Thanks everyone, really pleased as I wasn't sure I was really ready to do a marathon but I know I am, had loads left in the tank, even did a 7.45 m/m last mile which is the aim, to get quicker last few miles. Was icy and didn't wear my Trax... Hmm. So hard on some pavements. Very tired now though. Legs were fine, tiny niggle in knee but that's all, can't believe how stronger you become on distance the more you do.

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 19:18

rhet grrr at DD2's cold. We too have heating on lots, I'm a right wimp in the winter.

DrNo yes I'm done in, had glass of wine with roast dinner and it's finished me off. Like that top, I need similar.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 18/12/2011 20:20

Well done on the Turkey Trot ibby! Xmas pudding is an excellent reward!

Oh that top looks good DrNo, I need something like that for running this winter, though bottoms are more pressing issue.

Rhet, I have also basted mine in olive oil. Delicious!

DD is on her third late night. Still eating beans. Where will it all end?

Oh how I love the week leading up to Xmas. Best time of the year!!!

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 20:21

peach hey you'll be out running soon! You excited...? Is DD1 napping in the day?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 18/12/2011 20:22

Forgot to say, good work on the blood donation DrNo. I think it was in relation to that, that bonkers called you a mad cow Rhet....

Must add bonkers on FB when I can get on that puter.

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 20:22

Oh and well done ibby. Great time too.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 18/12/2011 20:25

Very excited fanny! She is napping but only really in me [Hmm]. am thinking though, that in new year, after a feed I can hand her over to DP and she can either sleep on him or whatever as I'll initiallly just be doing 3 miles I think. She is also having shortiah periods of alert wakefullness in her bouncy chair or the mat and these should get longer in a few weeks. If she rains this easy ANC doesn't turn into screaming banshee like DD1, then the running should be ok!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 18/12/2011 20:26

Flipping iPhone! Can't be bothered correcting last post. You get the jist!

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 20:29

peach as long as she naps then that's ok! What type of runner were you pre-pregnancy...?

rhetorician · 18/12/2011 20:46

oh yeah, that'd be my brain with the holes in it...hoping the same, pretty much with dd2. Does your DD1 ignore the baby or is she constantly at her?

sfxmum · 18/12/2011 20:46

delicious basted babies, breastfeeding Grin

very nice top fanny

I want to take dd to Arthur and Hugo and I want to take myself with or without girlfriends to all the films currently out with Michael Fassbender, preferably on a triple bill

bonkersLFDT20 · 18/12/2011 21:52

Rhet It was me who called you a mad cow - with reference to you not being able to give blood. You are of course NOT a mad cow. Actually, you might be, but I am not really in a position to say as I don't know you well enough Xmas Grin
You sent me my Garmin so you will always be my hero!

I've just "friended" three people on FB who must be from here.
No idea who you are though!

I'm fine with using initials. I don't use FB or MN for really personal stuff.

So, my initials are MM and my profile pic is of my adorable little son.
Who are you?!

Regarding basting. DS2 had the worst cradle cap in the whole wide world. It covered his face down to his nose. We narrowly missed being referred to a skin specailist because it was behind his little ears and getting infected. He has the lovliest skin now.

Fanny what a great time for 20 miles! You must be chuffed. I have never run that far in my life. Did you have to take snacks and stuff?

Ibby Great time for your Turkey Trot race.

I got out for a 10K yesterday. It's a loop I've run from home for many years. Imagine my amazement when I realised it was exactly 6.2 miles. I did have to go through a field with horses which involved proper stopping and unlocking of gates. I'm really scared of livestock. OK, maybe sheep are OK, but horses and cows.....freak me out.

futurity · 18/12/2011 21:54

I'm your stalker bonkers Smile

peachLFDTsmuggler · 18/12/2011 21:57

A crap one fanny, ha ha! No, seriously though, not particularly fast, but not particularly slow. PBs 5k-25 min 10k-60 min half-aherm 2 hours 24 mins. Preferred distance is the half, which have done a few in training but only one race. Tend to train in 10 min miles so this is what I'll be working on in training, though initially I'll just be happy to get out two or three times a week. Goals for next year to run a Sub 60 10k early summer and a sub 2.15 half in the Autumn. Bet you wished you never asked!

Rhet, DD1 likes to kiss/hug/stroke/hold DD2 but isn't too much in her face. She is very sweet to her.

sfx, we are all going to see Arthur Christmas on Wednesday with DD2 in sling!

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 22:02

bonkers how mad that it's exactly 10k! Funnily enough I took a mini mars bar and twice but lost them. Only drank water, no gels etc. Find having a good breakfast - had 2 weetabix, loads of dried apricots chopped up and pumpkin seeds with sugar and milk plus a chocolate brioche was enough. Talking of livestock, on a run last week three beautiful horses ran alongside us for ages in their field. Was very touching moment.

Re dry skin, luckily none of mine suffered but DD1 now has winter eczema behind her ears. Olive oil worked a treat on cradle cap and they all got that.

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 22:04

peach don't be daft, that's great times. Bear in mind, it's not all about speed however we do get caught up with it. I was a 10m/m runner for a long time, suited me fine.

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 22:05

They are great times. Not THATs. Hmm

fannybanjo · 18/12/2011 22:06

And twix not twice!!

Wheelybug · 18/12/2011 22:12

Bonkers - one of them was me ! VH - photo is of me, DH and DDs but I think
On FB it comes out as more of my DH.

great goals peach. What autumn half do you have in mind ?

I meant to say to everyone you can sign up to be notified when the royal parks half ballot opens. the ballot opens January sometime. It is my first choice for an autumn half but have entered 6 ballots in the last 2 years and got nowhere !

futurity · 18/12/2011 22:15

I had a place in the Royal Half in the second year it was on..I trained all summer and then a week before it was on I got very ill and couldn't do itSad still have the top though which they sent out before hand and it is lovely! I hear it is harder to get a place now but I will give it a go I think.

Wheelybug · 18/12/2011 22:23

Oh no futurity. Yes I think it only went
to a ballot last year. I shall enter (along
With GNR.... again).

futurity · 18/12/2011 22:32

We were in London on the day of the first run and being a keen newbie runner I dashed home and looked up what the run was and made a note to enter it the next year. I think it was hard to get online to do it but I was chuffed to get a place and gutted when I couldn't do it...so much so that I didn't start running properly again for almost a year ...completely lost the bug. I got back into it last October when running club started and since then have done 2 half marathons and 2 10k's and definitely got the bug again which is why it would be nice to do the Royal Parks finally Smile

DebiTheScot · 18/12/2011 22:42

That looks like a good race. I've regitered interest. Anyone know when the ballot is done though? I'd like to do GSR but I wouldn't do both as they're both Oct aren't they?

I got the entry form for the local sprint tri I did this year. I'll definately do it again next year. It's in May.
