Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
futurity · 27/12/2011 15:46

The water bottles just tucked nicely either side of my back and the little pouch was just big enough for my phone. Did look like I was off on some extreme off road adventure though! It's this one: www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mobile/MobileModels.aspx?ModelID=76152

peachLFDTsmuggler · 27/12/2011 16:05

Wink Am impressed however!

futurity, am hearing you on the eating front. Have been existing mainly on Lindor so far these holidays Blush

Off on my own, well with K obviously, to stay overnight with a chum in Edinburgh. Planning some running trouser shopping on way though will only manage if K stays asleep in sling. She's wearing a brown bear suit which makes me want to eat her all up!!! Flipping scrumptious!

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 27/12/2011 16:27

Futurity my DH delights in saying "off-road" in an over the top TopGear type voice when I wear my running belt (think it is from a Fast Show Sketch).

Peach - K sounds super cute - all babies should be issued with bear suits at birth.

Been out for a lovely run today - 5 miles, slow and steady. My heart rate seems to be back to normal.

Interesting chocolate fact - the lovely smooth inside bit of a Lindor is due to coconut oil. I learned this from my new LEON baking book.

Wheelybug · 27/12/2011 16:28

Hi all

Well done on your runs today futurity and fanny. Good news the new belt works futurity, I may get one, I have some
Amazon vouchers to spend (and some sweaty Betty ones).

So, the hard work is over here .... 3 days and nights of guests was exhausting ! Dh and i Have been waiting on them hand and foot. But, I think they enjoyed it ! I was going to run today but am too tired so will go in the morning pre-panto, then LSR Friday and then I'll either to our friends on NYE or run back on New Year's Day which seems a but ambitious Grin

Christmas running loot also included a RW sub and new socks.

Wheelybug · 27/12/2011 16:30

Glad all back to normal chief. I've senen the Leon cookbook. It's s lovely book ! Good luck with the running trouser shopping peach. And have a good trip.

Wheelybug · 27/12/2011 16:51

And how has your dad been peach ?

Bumply · 27/12/2011 17:07

Too much eating of chocolate and turkey and snacks etc.
Went out for a 7 k run today with new gloves and long sleeved high tec tshirt that I got in the sports direct sale as a Xmas treat for myself. Very slow run as felt the weight (literally) of my over indulgence these past few days. It was good to get outside.

orangeLFDThead · 27/12/2011 17:51

Hello, no running today but braved the sales, must be mad as I don't like shopping at the best of times and really don't like crowds. It was not too bad and the boys got a few stuff so they very happy. Too tired to cook now and think I have the start of blisters on my feet [note to self don't wear boots for shopping].

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 27/12/2011 18:01

I discovered today that it's really rather hard to go running having consumed muchos vino the night before. Would you Adam and eve it?

Shredme I've sent you a pm about clothes, albeit via your old nickname, hope it gets to you.

Hope everyone is having a nice Xmas

DrNortherner · 27/12/2011 18:20

Good evening all Smile

Hope you have all had an amazing Christmas, and looking forward to NY celebrations. Hope the babies enjoyed their first Christmas Smile

See some of you have managed to fit in runs, dedication at it's best!

My Mother was returned home yesterday all in all she behaved, but is such hard work, requires waiting on hand and foot (although she did make one cup of tea this time) and talks moans constantly about herself, never asking anything about anyone else, but that's a whole different thread......

So, over indulging on chocs, booze and everything else definately affects ones running performance, did a 10k today, very challenging off road race, beautiful scenery with some bastard hills (had to stop and walk twice) so only managed 55.56 minutes, 238 overall out of 414. Dh did amazing and set a pb (considering not a fast, flat course this is AMAZING) he did 41.06 and came 24th overall.

Now I am going to slob on sofa eating Pringles.

orangeLFDThead · 27/12/2011 18:22

Thats still a good time drno well done and well done to your dh too.

Wheelybug · 27/12/2011 18:39

Well done drno ! Sounds a great time for the course and in the post Christmas phase!! Well done to your DH too ! Fab.

Well done on braving the sales orange. I have only braved them online Smile. Any news on your bro ?

Well done cherry on getting out. It can only get easier as the wine and food leaves our Systems (she says whilst planning to not cut back until NY Grin).

orangeLFDThead · 27/12/2011 19:09

Apparently feeling little better today. Should be going down on thursday, just a little concerned over ds1 asthma so going to take him to docotors tomorrow. But I'm sure I will be fine to go but had a few bad experiences with ds1 and his asthma but I suppose its only a hour on plane if I need to get back.

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 27/12/2011 19:28

DrN I am also having some quality time with pringles!

sfxmum · 27/12/2011 19:47

hello

sorry about assorted self absorbed relatives, browsing through the myriad od thread here, post holiday is shocking

hope all children are feeling better as well as grown ups

great to see some of you managed to get out and run and even race - impressed

my plans to run were foiled by dh announcing we would be having visitors for the afternoon with less than 2 hrs warning, apparently this had been planned last week Shock I don't think the word plan quite applies here
I could, in theory leave him to it but....

anyway tomorrow

DebiTheScot · 27/12/2011 21:10

Just checking in while dh, sil and mil shout at each other over an iPod screen protector!

Still at the inlaws but back to my parents briefly tomorrow before gett

DebiTheScot · 27/12/2011 21:20

Grr.
... before getting the train back south with my parents. We've had a good Christmas and I'm slightly ashamed to say I've done very little in the way of helping. My inlaws are fine & not annoying other than sil being very stressy and high maintainance and mil never standing up to her.
Me and my cousin-in-law went for a very windy walk up a hill yesterday (trying to stand at the top was hilarious) and had a good bitch and moan which helped!!

Will hopefully fit a run in in the morning before we go. Actually I might go now and I think fil would probably run for the first time in his life just to escape!

rhetorician · 27/12/2011 23:37

just v quickly - someone on here runs with a buggy - I'm starting to think that the best way for me to run would be (when she is a bit bigger and will take a bottle of ebm) to take dd2 with me. Any suggestions? I could probably rustle up some cash for something so critical - and assume that resale value is decent?

ibbydibby · 28/12/2011 13:17

Just having a quick breather while DH takes DS2 to a party, and DS1 and Granny (my mum) happily working on a jigsaw together. Can't quite believe it is 1pm and I am the first post of the day on this thread.

Sounds like a good time has been had by all....am ashamed to admit that I have not run since Christmas Eve - was fancy dress parkrun, and they had a record attendance of well over 300 which made running a little tricky! Still, was a lovely atmosphere, with many running Santas (including DH), elves, a goose, and a few other characters.

Rhet am clueless about running buggies. I may still pm you re next weeks job interview, though please don't worry if you are tied up with other things, and don't have time to reply.

DrNo well done on race times for you and DH. My mum also slightly high maintenance....went out this morning to look for 2012 diary. Requirements were that it was reduced, and didn't have all that "useless information" that her 2011 diary had..turns out that last year she phoned the head office of well known supermarket to ask them why they included "foreign" festivals/holidays in her diary. Tried to point out that it can be useful but she was not having any of it. Anyway we found a diary that suited this morning in the sales so all good. (am knackered though)

orange well done for braving sales & glad you are feeling better

fanny glad that your cat is back (don't think I have posted since pussy-gate)

Apols for missing comments from others, this thread moves so fast.

Badger - great news!

orangeLFDThead · 28/12/2011 13:48

Sorry rhet have no idea about running with buggies.
Took ds1 to docotors he has chest infection so a bit unsure now ifto go to db. I'm sure he will be fine and dh is very capable and if I do need to get home its only an hours flight. But still feel unsure. I had asked exh to have the boys as dh working but now not happy as he has never had ds1 when his chest bad (history of being hospitalised with pneumonia and asthma and his dad was never around on those occasions) also he does not like to give him inhaler unless he really needs it as he does not want him to become dependant on it Hmm. So dh is going to take time off if I go.
Planning 3 miles on treadmill later.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 28/12/2011 16:51

Hi all, looks like we're all busy.

cherry have sent you a pm, clothes ready when you are.

orange sorry to hear about ds. But I think you're right to be cautious.

Rhet I would say with a running buggy you get what you pay for. And the same applies to resale. You won't need to do the Shred if you get one, you'll get arms like fanny's. Best not read that aloud, it comes out wrong Wink.

ibby I got MIL in full single parent/asylum seeker flow yesterday. No point engaging in any discussion with her when the central part of her argument is that Single mothers should not be allowed to own televisions (apparently you get given a plasma tv when you apply for Jobseeker's Allowance! Who knew?!) It also turns out that some of them take their children for coffee in Sainsburys cafe on a Monday when her and Marion are having their weekly hot chocolate before doing their shopping! The cheeky workshy lazy bitches!

orangeLFDThead · 28/12/2011 17:04

Your mil sounds divine shred Grin. Btw how does she know they were single mothers in sainsburys, does she have some kind of radar for them [wonders if I sent some vibe when I was a single mother and went to sainsburys for coffee and cake]. Infact sainsburys cafe was my bfing place when out shopping, had a table in a sort of cove so I could hid a bit. She would of loved me, single mum bfing in sainsburys, oh the scandal Smile.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 28/12/2011 17:10

Oh and I was also given two helpful Daily Telegraph cuttings about the rise in childhood allergies, which are apparently all my fault, because I should have given ds3 nuts when he was younger so he developed an immunity to them. Except I did - he had peanuts/peanut butter and mixed nuts when he was younger, but unfortunately still developed a sensitivity to them when he was 2. So then she said "well maybe you should just give him nuts now and see what happens." Yes, let's do that - because I really enjoyed watching his blood pressure drop in A and E as the staff fought to stop him having a heart attack Hmm.

And breathe ..............
