Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

I too am going to head out for a run this afternoon when dd2 is asleep; we've had a couple of not so great nights, with wind, but basically it's all good.

Christmas was busy - not quite sure why DP and I were running around making grown adults cups of tea and coffee when we are the people with the baby and the toddler Hmm - they turn up and just sit - it's quite incredible. Rant over.

but can't wait to get out for an hour or so - am feeling cooped up and slightly cranky

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 26/12/2011 11:21

Hello all. Hope you all had a nice day yesterday. Congratulations on your pregnancy Badger.

I am contemplating a run today - the weather is freakishly mild (12deg) and very windy - could be quite refreshing.

Got an interesting running top from DH - it is from Decathlon and has a sort-of jacket over the top half of a warm long sleeved running top. I am guessing it is for damp days when you don't need a full jacket but a bit of protection from wind and light showers. Should be just right for today.

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 12:08

What sort of wind gave you a bad night rhet? People are very strange. Sometimes you have to be a bit cheeky and say the kettle is over there (not that I would have the guts to do that).
Well I did say it would be a little run. I ran continous for 7 mins then coughed so much I was nearly sick (great view for the passerbys Blush) took my inhaler walked for a couple of mins then ran continously for 10 mins. So in all did 1. 8 miles. I was not expecting a miracle and quite pleased I managed to do 7 and then 10 mins without stopping considering how ill I have been. Done my stretches and now feel great. Hopefully might be able to do 3 miles on wednesday.

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 12:09

Oh and weather is freakingly mild out there

rhetorician · 26/12/2011 12:22

orange not my wind, the baby's!! sounds like a good start given how unwell you've been - best not to push it until you are fully recovered. Just working on the chestnut and butternut squash ravioli that we didn't quite get to in the maelstrom of Christmas Day...

very mild here too, windy, but dry. So excited to be going out later on :)

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 26/12/2011 13:51

Just back from a lovely run - very windy and spitting rain but perfect running temperature for me. My odd top worked well - no drenched shoulders, not too hot. Was also wearing the pressie I bought for myself: a Buff-alike tube of fabric to use as hat/neck warmer/ear warmer etc - I got it from Aldi ski range.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/12/2011 14:26

Do you mean like a sort of snood chief? sounds like you are well kitted up!

orange, that sounds promising but again, be cautious and don't set yourself back. Must be a relief to get back out there. Hope DB improves soon.

Ooh rhet, is this the ravioli with the sage butter. I love sage butter!!! Have had no more luck with the hammock but K sleeping well with me. Great to have extra shoulders for her to sleep on! Stayed up till 1am playing poker, but at least I won so worth it!

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 16:54

I thought you were getting a bit personal telling us about your wind rhet Wink. That ravoli sounds gorgeous. Hope your run went well.
Sounds like you were prepared chief.
How much did you win peach?
Can't believe how much I feel better, took boys to the park this afternoon and no coughing fits that made people back away Smile. Small things please me. Also looks like I should be able to go and see db

rhetorician · 26/12/2011 20:01

apart from run, can honestly say that i've had better days...

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 20:08

Whats up rhet? Hope you ok.

Wheelybug · 26/12/2011 20:15

What's up rhet ?

Sorry your bro's no better orange. But glad you are feeln
I am currently pretending to put dd2 to bed despite her falling asleep 5 mins ago just for some peace. Been busy couple of days and MIL now driving me mad. Anyway, I did 3.5 miles this morning despite v. Little sleep the last couple of nights (do not go to midnight mass when your kids will be up at 5). Hoping to do 6 tomorrow morning (to stay out w house ;-))

Dd2 loved her little bike and has been whizzing round the house on it. But she rode it to the pub this afternoon this afternoon so it has now been left outside much to her disappointment.

Wheelybug · 26/12/2011 20:16

Oops sorry Orange - that should say glad you are feeling better.

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 20:19

Well done for get out wheely despite being tired.

futurity · 26/12/2011 20:46

I wonder how much weight it is possible to put on in two days?! Have eaten alot of food but am having a nice relaxed time. I've realised that I like the Christmas holidays the most as it is the only time I can genuinely not work and don't feel like I may get a phone call or email related to work. I have stayed up later than I normally would but also slept in later Smile

I've got my nice new (pink) running top to try out tomorrow and my new shoes. Going to do 7 miles I think and, as if by magic, it will burn off ALL my Xmas excess Smile

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/12/2011 21:24

Glad to hear you're feeling better orange. I won £30, including my £5 stake back. Will use it to get some running trousers. Result!

wheely, good job on the running. Glad DD2 liked her wee bike,

hope you're ok Rhet

driving back from my sister's in dreadful weather, really rainy. Lie in tomorrow I think!

rhetorician · 26/12/2011 21:46

yes, fine, thanks - just long day of relentless childcare..plus boiler kaput...only one hand as wedged under sleeping baby :)

sfxmum · 26/12/2011 22:07

hello all, I hope you all had a good Christmas

sorry no proper catch up, orange I hope there is some improvement soon in your brothers condition, he does sound like a fighter

I am very tired,as not much sleep for the past few nights, dd has had a terrible cough followed by earache today, I really hope she settles for the night, still she is a cheerful little soul who keep making the best of things

Christmas was quite nice, and it was particularly good to see DH's uncle, this year he had heart surgery a heart attack and cancer, it was very bad for a while but it was lovely that we got spend some time together and he seems to be slowly recovering.

will catch up properly later and hopefully go for a run tomorrow

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 26/12/2011 22:11

Evening all, so glad Boxing Day is done! I dont mind the lunch for 10 (full Christmas lunch, the works) but my mum (who is lovely) seems to lose the use of her arms and legs the minute she crosses the threshold! I was busy with lunch but poor DH becomes her personal servant/tea bitch for the day. And no one offers even to help wash up or put away! Sigh .......

So I managed a short run this morning, would have been longer but sadly had to cut short and trot home fairly sharpish (turkey and sprouts are possibly not the best food to eat before a run Grin).

Off to the outlaws tomorrow - grim grim grim.

Have a lovely day and wishing a peaceful sleepy time to our thread babes.

rhetorician · 26/12/2011 22:14

shredme all our relations are like your lot...hopeless!

rhetorician · 26/12/2011 22:48

hi all - have the use of my hands back now, having plonkd dd2 on dp's lap...just one of those days, where everything was a bit of a struggle - dd2 not keen to be put down (and she is usually fairly good) and then it has to be said that attempting home-made ravioli from scratch with the assistance Hmm of a 3 year old is a surefire way to end up with sweary shouting (not her fault - she loves to 'help'). Need to keep culinary end of things simple, methinks!

boiler broken, forgot to put on immersion, dd1 quite reasonably refused cold bath! can't call anyone until Weds...

but got out for 8.5km! it was very windy, but a nice day on the whole and I enjoyed it, even though I feel less fit than I did 3 weeks ago - but if dd2 will nap in her pram, then I might get out a bit more frequently

fannybanjo · 27/12/2011 10:23

DH was scoffing at The Shred. He's currently doing level 1 under my insistence. I think I may need a defibrillator. Grin

Intending to do LSR shortly. We'll see how it goes.

futurity · 27/12/2011 12:23

Just done a little over 7 miles wearing new shoes and new pink top and new Nathan beltSmile I felt very kitted out...all went well though and the belt is surprisingly comfortable.

cestlavie · 27/12/2011 13:49

Just popping on briefly. Hope you've all had a great Christmas and the the thread babies have enjoyed their first Christmas. Have given up running (apart from brief 2 mile run yesterday) but glad to hear other people have found the time. Enjoy the day y'all and happy running to those of you who manage to get out!

fannybanjo · 27/12/2011 15:02

I need a new belt futurity - may see if any in the sales. I have a Nathan one but doesn't have water bottles, my cheapo one water bottles leak.

Done 11.30 miles this morning, 1hr40 so teeny bit faster than I should have done but threw in some HM and MP miles.

fannybanjo · 27/12/2011 15:12

cest are you going to get back into it in the New Year?
