Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 16:58

Gosh thats sad rhet, how is her dh coping?

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 24/12/2011 18:53

badger that is AMAZING news! Congratulations. Cvs not much fun is it, but the results are so definite one way or the other. What a lovely Christmas you're going to have Smile.

Rhet that's terribly sad, but I think you're probably right about her reasons. It sounds as though maybe she wanted to spare her family the additional pain of those last weeks and days. How incredibly brave, but sad.

orange your poor DB yes you're right to stay away as presumably his immune system is compromised. How is your nephew coping?

debi - you star! I can only dream of those times ....

alma I can't decide if you're very brave or foolish. Softplay on Christmas Eve! I would only be able to cope with that if large amounts of wine were made available!

So, not suffering too badly after last nights excesses. A new experience for me, I'm not a meat eater (was a vegetarian for many years) but have just come back to it and last night dared to order a medium steak. It was lovely! I would never have tried a slightly bloody steak before, but it was good to try! I may even do it again one day!

Just back from a lovely 4 miles, bit selfish as we have loads still to do, but what the hell. And I feel I deserve it as the next two days I'm going to be chained to the oven.

In other news, ds1 has freaked me out by setting up the new telly and hard drive thing with virtually no help. In fact he was correcting me. This is despite having multiple cables, sky dish and digibox, blu ray, play station and DVD player all jumbled like spaghetti at the back of the telly (honestly it's really bad - the old owner was a TV cameraman and there are cables in this house we occasionally ponder then push quietly out of sight). Have been completely upstaged by a just turned 9 year old Grin.

Wheelybug · 24/12/2011 19:12

Great news badger! Have a good teetotal Christmas Grin

V. Sad rhet....poor family .

orange sorry to hear your bro is back in hospital. Hope he's out soon and that his family are ok.

Great run debi. Hope your pb stands. Surely it should do as they are an organisation.

Well I think most of the hardwork is done here. Just got to get two v. Excited kids into bed and asleep. Then dinner for grown ups and taking the old ones to midnight mass....

fannybanjo · 24/12/2011 19:41

Quicky from me to congratulate badger!! I'm chuffed to bits for you. So glad everything ok with CVS.

rhet what a sad sad story. Sad how desperate must have that poor woman have been to do that. Damn cancer. Angry

Two little ones in bed, DD1 watching The Cube, I'm about to wrap DH's presents and couple of other bits then chill.

DebiTheScot · 24/12/2011 20:43

Brilliant news Badger, what a great Christmas present!

Apparently parkrun pbs are venue specific. But it was my fastest 5k ever anyway so is a proper pb anyway.

Have a great day tomorrow everyone. I'm going to enjoy not being responsible for anything!

orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 21:38

DB has pneumonia which I had sort of guessed. He is too weak to speak so can't ring him but texting him. Dsis is planning to drive down next thursday so hopefully I can go with. Dn playing up a bit, which is not surprising

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 21:52

Rhet, that is dreadfully sad. Poor woman, and poor family.

orange, must be very worrying, though am sure he is in good hands in the hospital. Best wishes to him. Poor little DN.

Have already gone to bed in anticipation of Santa ; )

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 24/12/2011 22:16

orange poor DB. DH has had pneumonia, and that was as a young fit bloke - he ended up in hospital for a week and off work for a month, and said he had never in his life felt so miserable and ill. Your poor family must be worried sick.

Have done my Christmas veg, though tomorrow is easy - just five of us. Ten for Boxing Day so I get to do it again - eek!

rhetorician · 24/12/2011 22:21

orange I hope your brother gets better soon; we had a really lovely day here (well, apart from the funeral part), but dd2 windy and unsettled, so our Christmas Eve wine and dvd plan has totally bitten the dust been revised and we are off to bed in the hope that the dark will settle her. We've hardly had a peep out of her all day, poor love

anyway, it remains to wish you and yours a very happy Christmas and I look forward to the debrief finding out what running gear stashes you got and making plans for 2012.

And congrats to badger again - it's nice to have a thread baby on the go at all times - orange I am sure you will be doing your bit with that very soon my love

orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 22:26

DS1 had pneumonia when he was 5 and he was in hospital for a week, very scarey. Db has had a it a few times now and each time its like a rollercoaster, as you know it was probably about 18 months now that they said he had a year left. But he keeps fighting and each time he comes through it he seems to go for a few months of looking alot better, puts on a bit of weight. It so difficult them being far away. Anyway must get to bed.

fannybanjo · 24/12/2011 22:33

Sorry to hear about your brother orange. Very humbling.

YeahThatsTheBadger · 24/12/2011 22:40

Thank you for all the lovely congrats! Grin
I'm so sorry about your DB orange. Like shredme says, he's in the best place. I hope he makes a swift recovery. I'll keep him (and you) in my prayers.

I've been hinting at a long sleeved running top rhet but I think dh thinks there's no point! I'm good to go for a little while yet and I'm planning a run on boxing day.
Merry christmas.x

Wheelybug · 25/12/2011 00:59

Sorry to hear its pneumonia Orange. Thinking of you all !

Midnight mass done, nice to sing a few carols..... Must go to sleep, dd2 will be up in a mo !

Happy Christmas everyone !

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 25/12/2011 08:22

Happy christmas!
Anyone doing a run today? I am secretly over excited about mine as getting to go with dp for first time on ages?

WishIwasCherryMenlove · 25/12/2011 08:24

Congrats badger, and orange sorry to hear of your brother

futurity · 25/12/2011 08:50

Happy Christmas all! Would love to sneak out for run but don't think I will have time whilst making lunchSmile

N4NNY · 25/12/2011 16:53

Just wishing everyone a very merry Christmas. Hope everyone os having a good day. I've woken up with a stinking cold bang goes my boxing day run in southsea tomorrow.

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 25/12/2011 17:15

Happy Christmas all! Hope you are all having a lovely (peaceful and restful?!) day with your families.

futurity · 25/12/2011 17:17

I didn't run but did wear my very shiny new running shoes when I went for a walk with the family Xmas Smile

rhetorician · 25/12/2011 18:11

have barely left the house other than to do pick up and drop off of rellies...mad amounts of chocolate and toys, but dd1 has had a blast. DP got me new running gloves (to compensate for the lost lidl one) and some very fancy looking socks...all I need now is an hour here and there to actually run. Didn't get out for goal mile - just too chaotic!

hope you all had lovely times - and that you enjoy the evening (downton abbey beckons, as does the bottle of dessert wine. Oh Yum Yum)

rhetorician · 25/12/2011 18:31

oh + Hugh Incredibly-Long-Name's veg book (we mostly are veggie) and a smoker for my beehive - which will be up and running in the spring :)

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 25/12/2011 21:47

Shredme - soft play on Christmas Eve was actually pretty nice, very quiet! One opened a couple of weeks ago opposite my house and it's lovely (and still quite clean!).

Rhet - very sad story.

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas Day :) We had a great time, DCs actually gave us a lie-in, yay! I got lots of lovely running gear, water bottle,, Nike+ sportband, new jacket, stopwatch so I'm happy. My parents bought me a Kindle which I've been lusting after for ages so v.happy!

Orange - hope your DB is OK.

fannybanjo · 25/12/2011 22:25

Happy Christmas everyone! Hope everyone had a nice day.

Exhausted is an understatement. DD2 woke at 3am with raging temp. 5.30am before I could get her to sleep then DD1 woke us at 7. Great day though, very spoiled by DH. Kids love their presents, won't mention on here the pink glittery heeled shoes a la Suri Cruise Santa bought DD2...Grin. She's gone to bed in them.

Gagging to run but no time tomorrow so be Tuesday now.

Cheers everyone!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 26/12/2011 01:02

Merry Christmas you lot! Lovely day here. Very civilsed get up time then presents and loadsa food. Got subscription to Runners World and Harry Potter boxset. DD1 got tons as usual and is most impressed by Jessie the cowgirl toy. Could hear her drawstring voice being pulled repeatedly over the monitor an hour after she went to bed. I have just won £30 at poker, kerching, so all good! Of to see 3 sisters tomorrow. The family, not the play!

orangeLFDThead · 26/12/2011 10:32

Hope everyone had great time.
Db about the same.
I'm feeling tons better Smile just a little cough so jusy about to head out for little run can hardly contain my excitement Grin, got inhaler in fanny pack just incase. Will report later
