OP posts:
Wheelybug · 24/12/2011 09:31

Happy Christmas eve ! Glad all are where you should be - or on your way Bonkers...hope your dd is ok fanny and your ds sleeps better cherry and I can't scroll back to see who was up in the middle of the night snotty - hope you're ok too (was it cherry too ?)

LOL at your inlaws shred. We're the other way and usually end up having our dinner at about 10pm when DH gets in cos I'm not going to cook 3 times and 5 is too early for me.

I went out for 5 miles this morning at about 730. Delivered christmas cards on my way . Bizarrely passed someone running in full Santa suit Confused. I'm assuming not the real one as he would be in Australia at the mo delivering tosonic and moshi

Anyway, legs felt heavy after yesterday but managed 43 mins which given I kept stopping to post cards was fine.

Right need to make a carrot cake this morning, whizz round with hoover before MIL and aunt in law arrive At 2. Except knowing them it will be 1.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 09:33

In bed also. God knows if DD1 is up yet (getting up with granny), hope not though as she didn't go to bed till
midnight!

Might go scavenging for chocolate in a bit.

Have been looking at 5k and 10k races. Our local one in Clapham Common. I've done it before and don't like the course much but then it's local and if I do the 5k in March then I won't be away from K too long. Hmmm. Guess by that point might be able to leave bottle of expressed milk...

Tried on shock absorber yesterday which, ta da, fits. Just. Would need to feed immediately before running I think to make it comfy. Just need to get some trousers to run in, which I'll get up here and then I am good to go!!!! I don't need to wait till 8 week checkup do I?

sfxmum · 24/12/2011 10:20

Hello all happy christmas eve Smile dd has a dreadful cough and kept me up all night, dh still after walking about in the middle if the night for dome reason.
We have been tracking Santa on NORAD Grin

Glad to hear all seems well considering the holidays
Enjoy the running for those of you who can

sfxmum · 24/12/2011 10:20

Still sleeping that should be after walking about during the night

futurity · 24/12/2011 11:22

Got out of bed in the end. A chilly 4.1 miles run...averaging about 9.48 min/mile which is quite speedy for me...think I was just trying to get it done and back home to get in a warm bath Xmas Smile

cestlavie · 24/12/2011 11:48

Aargh long post lost by stupid iPhone.

Anyways suffice to say happy Christmas eve all, safe travels, good sleeps and have a great day. And enjoy the running for those who can sneak out for a while Grin

LittleChiefRunnyCustard · 24/12/2011 12:55

Been to the gym - I wish this was due to my dedication to fitness rather than a need to escape my kids. Heart rate still a bit high but did manage to stick to a gentle jog today.

I am currently avoiding beginning the cooking marathon - even did some festive ironing of school uniforms instead Blush.

Merry Christmas everyone. Xmas Smile

kunahero · 24/12/2011 13:15

the mad fools here are doing a parkrun tomorrow!!!
I did one today.... not going out tomorrow!

orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 13:36

Still no running here.
Just heard my brother been taken back into hospital, don't know any more info yet his dw going to ring back later. Unlikely I will be able to and see him as don't want to give him this, still coughing loads

DebiTheScot · 24/12/2011 14:02

Hope your brother is ok orange.
Glad you made it up safely peach but I don't envy you having to deal with a tired toddler today!

I did Aberdeen parkrun this morning and got a pb Smile. 26:22 which knocked 8 secs off. But not sure if it'll count as was run at a different even to normal. It felt even colder than yesterday. Was 5C but very windy and felt colder than when I ran in -3 the other week. The route is along esplanade and so really gets the North Sea wind. It was into wind for wee bit then turn and with wind for just over mile (8.10 m/m for that mile!) then back into wind for about 1.5 miles (9.30 m/m) then turn again with last 1/3 mile with the wind again which meant I could really push that last bit.
So glad I did it as 1. Got a pb 2. The atmosphere was great with loads of costumes and 3. It's the first time in ages I've run 2 days in a row and I felt good Xmas Smile

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 14:08

Great result Debi, sounds Baltic!!!

Very sorry to hear that, orange, must be very worrying for you all. Agree though, best to keep away, while you are ill. Do let us know how he is. Thinking of you.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 14:10

She seems ok actually Debi. She didn't get up till 9.40 which clearly still isn't enough sleep but she never seems to get too stroppy from lack of sleep. Famous last words!!

rhetorician · 24/12/2011 14:18

hello all; sorry about coughs, colds, sleeplessness and afflictions of various kinds. I have just been to a funeral :(, but am home now, having wrapped presents etc. DP's mum and sis here to keep an eye on DD1 while I was gone - so gargantuan amounts of tea are disappearing, adversely affecting our supplies of milk for the duration.

Had a slightly tetchy exchange with DP in response to a discussion about childcare - my whiny question was 'but when will I run?'. Am actually seriously worried about this as at the mo I run when DD1 is at nursery (and a few other times), but now there will be a DD2 here all the time as well...I was in town this morning and just kept thinking, 'I just want to run', 'I just want to run', but i guess I am just going to have to go for quality, rather than distance (very Xmas Envy of *fanny's 40 mile week - that's what I used to do, almost every week). But I'm sure in due course things will settle down and I'll start to get some time back. Won't I?

orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 14:38

Well done debi thats an excellent time.
Glad dd1 ok peach fx she stays that way.
Thankyou, will let you know how he is. On a brighter note just got a tax rebate, only £70 but better than nothing. Might end up putting it towards a flight to see db if I am better in a few days.
Whose funeral was it rhet? Sorry if I have missed. Hope everything ok. I'm sure everything will settle down soon, it very frustrating though.
Managed some more ab work and weights today but running still a bit ambitious at mo. Antibiotics finish tomorrow, think I might need a second course though.

DebiTheScot · 24/12/2011 15:01

I lied, my slow mile today was 9m/m, not 9.30. Just gone through the history on my garmin & it was the fastest run I've done on it Smile

YeahThatsTheBadger · 24/12/2011 15:09

Oh orange sorry to hear about your brother. I hope he is ok.

Well done on the pb debi!

Rhet it will all settle down eventually, but that doesn't help you much right now though. Maybe you should join the Shred lovers in the meantime?

Fanny glad the cat came home and hope it returns again today.

Well, I've been busy making biscuits for Santa and a chocolate roulade. I've never made one and was quite worried it wouldn't work out, but it is soooo nice! (I cut the end piece off to test it Grin). Off to my folks tomorrow morning then back home Boxing Day. Got to make a cheesecake and cook a ham/gammony thing that afternoon ready for the visit to the inlaws the next day.
BUT the best bit is that we get to tell everyone tomorrow that I'm pregnant! Grin All is well with the baby (CVS came back ok - phew) and I'm 12 weeks now.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 24/12/2011 15:13

Ah, fun morning here at local soft play centre trying to exhaust DCs so they'll sleep tonight. I had a fun night of delirium and discomfort but feeling slightly better today.

Sorry to hear about funeral Rhet :( I'm sure you will have more time at some point but it must be really frustrating.

Great time on parkrun Debi!

Hope your DB is OK Orange.

AlmaWalkingInAWinterWonderland · 24/12/2011 15:17

Xposts, congratulations on pregnancy Badger, what a lovely day to tell everyone!! That will make it very special.

futurity · 24/12/2011 15:32

Wonderful news to tell everyone Badger ...that has really made me smile lots Xmas Smile

sfxmum · 24/12/2011 16:07

That is wonderful news badger Grin best wishes for the rest of it

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 16:09

Aww badger, such a lovely Xmas present! Congratulations!

Rhet, sorry about funeral, what a sad time of year. I know it must be frustrating about the runningbut it won't be long till things settle down and you'll be back to your crazy mileage!!!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 24/12/2011 16:10

Alma, you are very mad brave going to softplay when you're not well!

orangeLFDThead · 24/12/2011 16:27

Ah badger thats wonderful news.

rhetorician · 24/12/2011 16:49

badger I am over the moon for you and DH! having been through a cvs recently with better odds, I can't imagine how tough it's been. But that's made my Christmas Eve - hugs to you all

funeral was the wife of a colleague of mine, but also someone who I've done book reviews for - very well known in Ireland amongst writers and academics. It turns out that (details still sketchy) she had been diagnosed with (I assume) a very aggressive cancer, but it seems that she decided to take matters into her own hands - and jumped off the pier (I was a bit confused when the prayers thanked the coastguards as well as the medical services). Her sister (who my DP used to clean for many moons ago) died earlier this year of breast cancer - maybe she had seen the end close up and didn't want that herself...I had assumed a heart attack as her husband (a lovely man) was all smiles and joviality at our Christmas dinner just over a week ago.

sfxmum · 24/12/2011 16:58

rhet that seems like a really hard situation but understandable from her point of view, I hope the family finds some comfort.

Deep into harmonious and quiet family gathering Wink
Have a lovely Christmas

Of course the Australian reps are pretty much at the turkey stage so to speak
