Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

Ooh Brisbane how exciting, never been there other than on a stopover halfdead from lack of sleep.

Dog seems sadly disinterested in suckling my young or even entertaining them, but then he is a lazy git. Boys are watching Cats and Dogs - what a pile of cack. Arthur Christmas sounds wonderful.

Have just been told off by DH for raking the leaves off the lawn. Apparently I should have used the leaf blower. I pointed out that having reminded him 6+ times it needed doing he shouldn't complain when the bloody Garden Fairy I do it.

monkeyLFDTwench · 21/12/2011 11:54

Shocking grammar today, sorry.

monkeyLFDTwench · 21/12/2011 11:54

Oh and happy birthday cest, I will expect to see nothing but a blaze of orange whizzing past me ....

ibbydibby · 21/12/2011 11:56

Oh Rhet tell us more....makes my news of a Runners World win look very tame indeed..

OP posts:
ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 21/12/2011 11:59

Like it?

Wheelybug · 21/12/2011 12:02

Catch up again later but happy birthday cest !
I won a prize ! I won a prize ! On the runners world advent calendar face book thing. A SIS nutrition pack. Not quite sure what that entails but nice to win something !

Wheelybug · 21/12/2011 12:06

Ooh snap ibby !

stickyLFDTfingers · 21/12/2011 12:14

Wow! Two prize winners and a birthday boy! Well done ibby and wheely and Many Happy Returns to Cest (and Envy for nooo shoos)

rhet why do universities do this to academic families just before Christmas? Evil HR departments. Would you be interested do you reckon?

Monkey/shredme great name! Though I warn you, I have a shocking girl crush on Natalie... those legs, that smile...

futurity · 21/12/2011 12:18

well done to all you price winners! I've just been to Runners World and entered todays for the hell of it :)

Cest love those trainers! Are they those ones which make you run on your fore foot or am I getting confused with Newtons?

Went for my first run in 10 days today ...back/neck still aching but was going mad so had to get out. Went very slowly for 2.4 miles and it was alright...still ached but didn't get worse and meant I could eat a small muffin when I got back guilt free :)

ibbydibby · 21/12/2011 12:27

Wheely well done! Strange thing is there is a list of prize winners for each day, and I am not listed for Dec 6th (the day of the comp according to email) - are you listed? (Just like to see my name in print... Xmas Grin.

Well done on your run futurity - bet you enjoyed that muffin...

Like the new name Monkey/shredme (though have to confess I was not sure whether it was you or Fanny..)

OP posts:
cestlavie · 21/12/2011 12:55

What do we think about this rhet? Right now, Brisbane sounds bloody amazing! An Aussie I knew in London moved back there and she absolutely loves being back...

And well done to the prize winners! That is a very cool pre-Christmas bit of excitement... and thanks for best wishes monkey and sticky.

Don't think new trainers are specially designed to run on forefoot futurity - they are super flexible and light though so it feels like you end up doing so (even if the reality is that you're still clomping along on your heels!)

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 21/12/2011 13:11

Sticky Grin - I think that's what Natalie's there for! Lots of long lingering shots .....

rhetorician · 21/12/2011 13:36

yes I would be interested (Ireland a sinking ship, been here too long etc etc), but I suspect it's not ultimately a runner for a permanent move because of the contact arrangement that we have with the girls' dad - this is a real downside
:( plus DP and I both have elderly mothers, but like fanny says, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity. I haven't seen any details yet, mind you...

peachLFDTsmuggler · 21/12/2011 13:42

Happy birthday cest, have a great night out with your shoes DW Wink

well done ibby, and wheely!

futurity, hope the neck/back ok after run.

After talking about coffee shops t'other day, although am not a fan of Starbucks, I must recommend their salted caramel pecan bar. I say bar, it is really more of a miniscule square but lish all the same!

I like it shredme! I would have slapped DH re. leaves....

Oooh Rhet, details please!!!

Am going slowly mad with K not sleeping anywhere but on me. Some days it is fine and other days when you really need to do things, it is really tough. Had her rocking in her car seat this morning and she slept for all of 15 mins. Sigh. She has just had snout 45 mins on DP and now asleep on me. I think she is overtired a lot as not getting a chance to have long naps. Will sling her this afternoon to go to cinema. Have booked cab for airport on Friday so that's one thing done. God I swore I wouldn't moan about the sleep thing this time, and she's only tiny. I need to run I think...

DebiTheScot · 21/12/2011 13:57

Ooo exciting Rhet, could be a very tough decision though.

Happy Birthday cest, those shoes sound cool.

Is forefoot running what we're 'supposed' to do? I'm sure my shins were less sore when I tried to go down on my forefeet (or fourfeet as dh thought I meant) the other day. And I felt springier!

I've sent ds1 to my best friends (she lives across road from my arents) and am sitting here in complete silence waiting for ds2 to wake up so we can go across too. (I'm not in same room as ds2, just enjoying some peace)

rhetorician · 21/12/2011 14:04

peach I feel your pain (referred pain, probably, from round 1 with DD1...for you and me, by the sound of it)...we have been fairly lucky so far - dd2 likes to fall asleep on someone (usually after guzzling a gargantuan amount of milk Xmas Grin), but generally you can put her down after that - either in her pram or in her co-sleeper prison

gah, have to rush off now and fly round town again

A is now 3.64kg - so just over 8lbs - birth weight as 7lbs and 8oz, and she lost about 5oz of that I think. So despite snots, she is growing well - she's a little snuffly piggie, actually...

YeahThatsTheBadger · 21/12/2011 14:28

Happy birthday cest! Glad your move went well and hope the DIY/house stuff eases off soon so that there's more running.

Futurity glad you're starting to feel better.

Rhet sounds exciting! I have so many cousins in Ireland without work and a few have emigrated to Australia because they just can't see things improving there for a long time. It doesn't help having so many other people to think about outside of your little family unit.

Thanks again Fanny for the huge boxes of clothes. DD is loving showing off some of her new coats and will be wearing one of the pretty embroidered tops on Christmas Day! x

Am just lounging about with ds watching Despicable Me, waiting for DD to wake up so we can go visit an elderly Aunt. Off out tonight for a chinese with some friends while DH babysits. No running for me for the last week. Have had a sore throat for four mother trucking weeks which has got worse over the last week. The dc's have got something similare too. Hoping it's gone by Christmas Day.

Hope everyone else lurgy is gone soon. Roll on overeating of bad food!

Wheelybug · 21/12/2011 15:42

No ibby I am not on that winners list either. Maybe some people didn't get back to them with addresses and we were b-list ! Oh well, having looked at the website looks like gels and rehydration stuff so quite useful (ignores brother's patronising FB comments). Is it the SIS that don't need to be washed down.

Exciting re Australia rhet. At best a great opportunity, at worst v. Flattering. Hope it works out for the best whatever you decide.

futurity - welcome back to pounding the pavements. Hope the neck holds up.

peach hope you don't fall asleep at the cinema ! Moan away re the sleep, we've all been there !!

cest - enjoy your birthday meal. Hope the restaurant let you in with the new shoes .... And that you are still married in the morning Grin

Right been to friends for lunch, now to get back to the to do list (am not jealous of all you lot who are going elsewhere... Oh no... Envy. Mind you, we haven't hosted for about 4 years so our turn I suppose...

orangeLFDThead · 21/12/2011 16:11

I would let you wear them for dinner cest, orange is my favourite colour. Hope you have a good time.
Like the name change monkey.
ooh how exciting rhet. What does dp think. What part of Ireland are you in if you don't mind me asking? My dad from longford and I use to visit friends in Rscommom and Galway alot
Envy of you first run in 10 days futurity, I want to run [stamps feet].
Well done prize winners.
peach I hope she settles into rountine soon. DS1 used to sleep better with hoover on, noise supposed to be similar to noises in womb.
The boys dad was supposed to be picking them up at 3, it now gone 4 and he still an hour away. There are staying at his till saturday night. Just a shame I am working tomorrow and friday. But still won't know what to do with myself. They have not stayed overnight at his for two years they are very excited.

DrNortherner · 21/12/2011 16:31

Happy birthday cest, the trainers sound like a fab present. Racing flats take a bit of getting used to I believe.

ibby the Turkey Trot sounds great. I agree, women are under represented at races.

futurity welcome back off the injury bench, take it steady!

rhet headhunted to Aus?! Wow. Will you find out more info?

Well last night at running club I learnt not to do a tough interval session 48 hours after giving blood Blush I very nearly passed out. Was a little scary I must say. We started off with short sprints, then did longer loops of an estate, through the grounds of a private school. I am normally a middle of the group runner, but last night I was the last runner, right at the back. I was gasping fro breath and my legs have never felt so heavy. I could not have run faster for a million squid. Dh did a double take as he lapped me as I was wobbling all over apparently but the bastard kept on running! Finally got back to the start point and had to stop. So I was laid on the pavement on a main road with my feel up against a road sign with 40 odd runners looking at me. Felt a real twerp. But realise now that giving blood can affect performance for up to 3 weeks......so today I am doing naff all. Still went to the pub for chips though but just had a coke instead.

DrNortherner · 21/12/2011 16:51

In other news, the weather woman on Daybreak this morning said 'Och aye it's a Dreich day today' ..........

stickyLFDTfingers · 21/12/2011 17:01

drno that sounds like a very unpleasant experience, hope you are recovering now.

orange are you doing anything special for your child-free time? Hope the boys are picked up now.

rhet good news about your snuffly piggie!! Your DP is obviously doing excellent work there.

peach moan away! Though I find cinemas soporific at the best of times (even managed to fall asleep during Reservoir Dogs. DP and I hadn't been going out long and he was very Hmm - but he's used to me now (snore snore)).

Think I'm going to do a wheely tomorrow morning. I can't believe now how I always used to run early in the morning. I've got much too attached to my nice warm bed.

orangeLFDThead · 21/12/2011 17:07

Nope not picked up yet. Me and dh going out for meal Friday night. If cough better might try and get some running in, fx

ShredMeJillianIWantToBeNatalie · 21/12/2011 17:19

Have just sent ds3 to his room for messing with his tea ..... how many days is it till Christmas?!

Right. I'm back - I totally lost my running mojo for a while but I think it is back now so I am rejoining you guys (used to be ChewyToffeeMum). The reason for my renewed experience is that it's that time of year when I have no races and can concentrate on really slow running to build endurance. I like slow Blush.

Today I did 4 miles on the treadmill (not so bad with radio 4 for company) at a blistering 13.25 min/mile pace. I was aiming to keep my HR below 147 and was actually able to increase the speed on the machine to 7.5kph by the end.

I am planning to catch up on the thread over the next few days so apologies if I seem to be ignoring the thread of the conversation.
