Supposed to be working but could not resist challenge of new thread title!

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 09:04

DrNo that's why I am not as enthusiastic about MN anymore, there's too many posters on here now and majority of posts get ignored. Not on this thread though....!!

Sonic you have my sympathies - poor you, is this the result of running?

Oh a running day today, not sure what I'm going to do though. Probably should be easy but I did recover yesterday after 20 mile do could I do a hard run?

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 09:05

Alma didn't enjoy Black Swan one bit - that's not to say it isn't a good film, just not my cup of tea.

peachLFDTsmuggler · 20/12/2011 09:08

sonic, sorry mate, that sounds grim. Don't know anyone who's had the procedure. Really hope you are not out for long Sad

bonkers, DP have slipped into middle age not bothering to buy presents for each other at Xmas. Mainly cos we think each other is difficult to buy for, but also cos DP wouldn't bother with Xmas or birthdays if he had his way Shock Miserable sod!!

fanny, what a micro-penised shit your ex is! Utter swine. Can't top that but was once dumped when I was laid up with broken leg, just after my mum had been diagnosed with cancer. Men are delightful sometimes, no? Sorry cest, don't mean you, you are lovely!

Pleeeeeeease blurt out micro-penis in that meeting today DrNo, I will love you forever if you do.

Right. My day for a lie in so am getting up to go to baby clinic Hmm. also need to run around random inappropriate shops trying to get stocking fillers for the bairn. As we are going to ascotland on Friday, Santa is coming to us on Thursday night!

rhetorician · 20/12/2011 09:35

hello all - loved the thing/micro penis chat - I still wish I'd trademarked marathong though...I might have to buy one of those tops though - and one for my lovely running friend who has been so supportive at work (picking up slack for me etc)

DD2 still so so snotty - she was up from 4-6 crying, fussing, it seems worse at night - I think it might be because there's lots of fabrics upstairs. Oh well, this will pass - she is basically good as gold (sleeping now).

no running for me today, barring a miracle (please!) - think I might have to get the shred going instead for non-running days

DD1 was going to bed last night, and hung her dolls upside down over the bars (she is titchy and has a big cot) and said 'look, they're bats' Hmm. She's a right one, so she is

DP and I bought each other a share in a new coffee machine = but I am going to break the rules and get DP a kindle so she can read in bed while feeding (a sort of well done on labour + you are doing a great job + xmas pressie that I will also get to use) plus some nice moisturiser, a bottle of whiskey, some socks and maybe some kind of voucher for her to go off and do something for herself for an hour or two once we can get DD2 to take a bottle - she is a boob monster!!

sfxmum · 20/12/2011 09:53

hello all
attempting to catch up and being distracted by talk of tongs assorted weird/ girly running gear and micro nobs, what ever next?! I like the long sleeve Ts with slogan.

so

rhet good news regarding dd2, hope dd1 is well and more settled too
futurity glad neck is improving
cest good to see you, hope you feel you are back on track soon, the L2B sounds like a challenge
monkey hope all better with DS3, and good luck with the goal for this week
drN regarding weight, I guess it depends on how you feel, if you feel strong there should be nothing wrong and it is just some sort of adjustment

wheely slow and steady seems to work for you, I am the very opposite of your dh, everything instantly becomes lard, I always feel like a lazy twat saying that mist of my weight issues are hormonal, but they really are, PCOS is one of the very few real excuses where that works
that is not to say that an appropriate diet is not effective

sonic ouch sounds grim I hope the recovery is not too slow, will you be able to swim or some such?

peach hope dd2 appointment goes well and that dd1 is enjoying big sisterhood, has she asked to send baby back yet? Grin

alma re B;ack Swan , not seen it yet I have watched a few of Aronofsky films before but i am not sure they work in American, especially the more pretentious arty ones

presents I have nothing for dh yet apart from clothes which dd insisted on buying I expect I will have to come up with something, he usually tries to give me something I like

Last day of school for dd, last day of work for dh tomorrow

Panto Thu and away Up North Friday, hope to fit some running in between

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 10:31

Oh monkey missed you saying you'd watched Hatchi! Oh my, DH and I sobbed at that film. Sobbed! It's a fabulous film, far nicer than bloody Black Swan.

I am currently culling books. Well kids books that is, I get mine mainly from the library but gee whizz, my three have accumulated some literary shit over the years Blush I'm only allowing them to read the Bible from now on... Wink. You know, cos that good old fable will keep em entertained for years. With the greatest respect to anyone who is religious (I was brought up Catholic), I just don't see the point of it. I actually think I am an atheist. Although I suppose getting DD1 christened so she could get into the nearest school was a bit hypocritical...

ibbydibby · 20/12/2011 10:35

Popping in quickly...

Sorry missed all willy talk last night, was out at running club (shortish round-the-town run for everyone followed by festive food and drinks - yum) then once home had to get stuck into some work....

Glad DD2 ok Rhet, hope her cold soon clears. Laughed at DD1 and her bats.

Welcome back cest

Sorry about knee Sonic

Peach, know what you mean about going round inappropriate random shops for sticking fillers - something I have yet to do

Fanny sounds like hard work with your 3 DDs arguing over who sits next to you/answers phone etc. You need a rota..........

Futurity glad neck improving

DrNo sorry no-one posted in reply to your inappropriate thong...

OP posts:
ibbydibby · 20/12/2011 10:39

Eek. Not sure if I have said previously that I had applied for a job, interviews to be held w/c 12th Dec, and to assume not successful if not heard anything by 19th Dec?

Anyway, was not called for interview, so assumed unsuccessful last week, and confirmed yesterday as had not heard anything. Today got an email inviting me for interview on 3rd Jan. And need to do a 10 minute presentation. Eek eek eek. Having worked from home for last 10 years or so, am not in the habit of presentations. Oh. Poo.

OP posts:
fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 10:48

Oh well done ibby fingers crossed all goes well. Hey, if you're stuck for ideas, then a talk about micro knobs always a good one. Grin

orangeLFDThead · 20/12/2011 10:54

Love the socks drno Grin.Ouch to your pits I use Mitchum. Its great some other deodorant's seem to have the ability to make me sweat more than if I wore none. I have never had a problem with it. I think they do one for sensitive skin.
I have not really drank alcohol for a year now Sad (about 1 glass a month.) Not made any difference to my weight. I used to be really skinny prekids and I ate loads and all rubbish. I not fat now between a 10 and 12 but its all on my tum.
Wow 1 month old peach that has flown.
Gosh that woman is veiny with the thongs on. I too was thinking it looked like a man fanny
Oh sonic sorry to hear that. I have no experience but hope you not out for long.
Fanny Shock at your ex. We do have to kiss many toads before we find our prince charming Smile
Grin at dd1 rhet, I love kids imaginations.
I found black swan intriguing, can't really say I enjoyed it.
Good luck ibby for the interview. fx.
Feeling really rough today. Think I might go and have a sleep for a bit. I never sleep in the day. I have been plodding along the last two weeks since I have had this. But think I am finally giving in and bugger this house work.

rhetorician · 20/12/2011 10:54

ibby great news on interview - what's the presentation on? pm me if you want to talk about it

stickyLFDTfingers · 20/12/2011 11:02

hi - just checking in quickly (it takes ages to read through the thread if you're not on regularly - I see what everyone was on about now!).

Tee hee at micro-penis! Tell it like it is...

sonic do hope your knee can be sorted out :(

cest great to see you back, hope you can do less tidying and more running soon!

rhet poor little DD2 with her snotty nose, they must wonder what on earth's going on! OK - I can breathe this air stuff now - oh no, now that's got a lot trickier.... LOL at bats!

ibby best of luck! Also urgh at presentation - have they given you enough guidance as to what they're expecting?

fanny I have a DD1 who is currently obsessed with horse books. So it's not only shit, but horseshit....

sfxmum · 20/12/2011 11:03

good luck ibby very good news

DrN I only wear cream deodorant quite a lot of other stuff my skin reacts quite badly

rhetorician · 20/12/2011 11:52

sonic meant to say, that sounds pretty bad, but hopefully you will get back to running even better once it's done

SonicMiddleAge · 20/12/2011 12:03

Thanks everyone for sympathy. An trying to look on bright side which is Feb is too hot to run, and should be able to use pool for rehab. Also Aus isn't a bad spot to be for sports surgeons. Last but not least if I can't run I'm going to work on having the best abs I've ever had, so probably somewhere a little worse than pre dc...

DrN, my hill Sprint excuse is that the knee's always sore, and running or laying off seems to make no difference.

ibby good luck with interview, monkey sympathy being stuck in when you wanted to run. Can dh look after the dcs if you do an early one in the morning?

peachLFDTsmuggler · 20/12/2011 12:11

Well done ibby, that very exciting!

Meant to say sorry about yer pits DrNo, I use Mitcham with no problems but them I am Scottish, and made from girrrrders! Grin

you are such a lively thoughtful partner Rhet! You can bet I will be getting sweet FA for giving birth/doing a great job etc. Wink. Hope snufflybum improves soon. K is still like a little pig at night, I guess it's just lying down.

Just been at baby clinic. Goodness, she is 9 pound 9 so has put on 1 pound 3 in last two weeks. Oink oink! HV said not to worry bout the milk vomming as weight gain obviously good. Hurrah!

Hope you start to feel better soon orange, you poor thing. You really have been I'll for a while now.

fanny, there is a tv show on this week about a poor man with OCD whose house is crammed with stuff he can't throw anything away. He sounds like your polar opposite!

sfx, no DD1 still super keen on the baby, though maybe less so on us! At bedtime last night she screamed "Iwant to watch Abney and Teal" (which I had recorded and deleted after watching) for about 15 mins. We kind of went with it and gave her lots if sympathy. Maybe not the right thing, but she needs to be able to vent a bit I think at the lack of attention.

Right, have got some Xmas tat from poundshop now really must get ass out of Caffe Nero and home as friends coming round for lunch in 20 mins. Just as well am slattern and have got shop bought pizza!

sfxmum · 20/12/2011 12:18

glad to hear it peach the weight thing not the screaming

fanny I was also brought up a Catholic and am now a devoted atheist, we have 2 Bibles at home a kids one and a traditional King James text, all important education

on the atheist front went to see the Lessons and Carols for Godless people last night which was enjoyable and quite funny, can't beat a mix of scientists and comedians who were all very amusing

monkeyLFDTwench · 20/12/2011 12:24

rhet I bought DH a Kindle this year and having been very unconvinced beforehand he absolutely loves it. His only bugbear is that he can't get hold of foreign language stuff, but for your usual suspects it's great.

I could do with a book cull, we have literally a house full. I was hoping to do a toy cull and send some broken shit stuff to Toy Heaven, but haven't managed to breach the boys' defences into the playroom yet. My hands are itching to get that black bin bag in there!

Funny enough my oldest two LOVE the bible. They have a version in with pictures, bought by MIL, and it cracks me up to see them both lying in their bunkbeds reading the bible. Ds2 took his bible in to show and tell a few months back, and apparently told the teacher he has to read a bit every night Hmm. Not true obviously!

Still waiting for DrN to admit she said "it" in the meeting, I am so crossing my fingers ......

ibby that's fantastic news, just go in there and do it! In fact LFDT!

orange sorry you're feeling shit. Just take one day at a time and b88* the housework - it can wait (sorry fanny*, close your ears to that one).

Just got to walk into town this afternoon and buy some food, then going to stop off at one of those Christmas houses on the way home - you know the sort of thing, giant inflatable reindeer, 25000 bulbs .....

rhetorician · 20/12/2011 12:34

great job peach on weight gain; DD2 was lying between us last night after a feed and turned her head towards me and did what sounded like a ginormous puke, although it wasn't...

I am dying to throw all my possessions in the bin - we have nowhere to bloody put anything and DD1 continually mucks about with stuff. Her toys are all in a muddle which drives me nuts although she doesn't appear to care Hmm

have to take DD2 for bcg this afternoon, so family trip to the clinic. My life is soooo exciting Xmas Wink

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 12:40

Oh rhet I'd have palpitations if kids toys weren't in right place. We have storage system and each box has similar toys in. If pieces are missing, they get binned. I spend a good couple of hours once a month going through everything and putting things back in right place! Kids don't seem to play with them otherwise. And you think your life is exciting..., I've just spent all morning reorganising my running gear and tidying my drawers. I found a Shock Absorber bra so made up! I think I have OCD don't I? Blush

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 12:43

Just found my old children's bible. Grin I binned it as it was ripped but I will buy a replacement, honest to God blasphemes it's just full of such contradictions and hypocrisy, I can't bear it.

fannybanjo · 20/12/2011 12:45

I will add however my car is usually a shit tip and my friends can't believe I leave it the way I do. It's definitely my Monica's cupboard.

cestlavie · 20/12/2011 13:13

fanny, I think Christmas makes religion very appealing to kids... DS absolutely loves the nativity story and is swallowing- enjoying all the good stuff in the bible, cue recent conversations along the line of:

DS: "You know who made the earth, don't you daddy?"
Me: (thinking the answer isn't going to be the Big Bang) "Uh-huh"
DS: "It was God who made it. He did, for real*"
Me: (through gritted teeth) "Mmm, yes honey, some people certainly believe that"
DS: "And you know who the first man and women on earth were don't you"
Me: (inwardly screaming) "Adam and Eve by any chance?"
DS: "Yes! How did you know daddy???"
Me: "Oh just a lucky stab in the dark"
DS: "Can I be God when I grow up?"
Me: "Why not"

Good luck with the interview ibby - presentation... eek! Proper serious interview stuff huh.

Good to see you again sticky and sfx. Yep, L2B feels like something of a challenge but weirdly when I count down a sensible target time, it feels like being very achievable (he says in blissful ignorance of what it probably entails...)

Sounds like little peaches (hmm, baby apricot maybe? or baby kumquat?) is doing pretty well peaches... that's some good weight gain there. Maybe she's getting into the Christmas spirit and larding up!

Love the comment about the bats rhet. Would that have been said with a very cute face whilst finding ways not to go to bed...?! Great presents for your DP - with a Kindle and bottle of whisky, hard to see why you'd ever want to get out of bed though...

Good luck with arthroscopy orange - my bro had a big op on his knee a couple of years back and it took him out of action for a little while but he's been back running on it for ages and it's much better than it was before. Hope it all goes well.

  • note, you can take the kid out of East London, but not East London out of the kid.
futurity · 20/12/2011 13:29

DS: "Can I be God when I grow up?"
Me: "Why not"

Grin love that!

sfxmum · 20/12/2011 13:33

do not curb the boy's ambitions and aspirations, why settle for being prime ministerGrin

dd is convinced she can control and talk to birds as well as snakes Hmm she also does spells to become invisible or gain extra powers
