All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

Blush sorry sucky sticky - it's late Grin. My minds on other jobs... When is the marathon? Sunderland one?

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/12/2011 23:00

early May. I know, I should be off to bed too. Just can't leave the road crash telly that is question time.

fannybanjo · 08/12/2011 23:01

We have Sucky and Noshi now. who else wants a Fanny style name change?

fannybanjo · 08/12/2011 23:02

Question Time far too lowly for moi. South Park has better government policies to discuss.

stickyLFDTfingers · 08/12/2011 23:03

I'm not fat, I'm big boned.

Right, that's it, I'm off to bed. DP will just have to discover me later (very Xmas Confused about the smeared face paint and glitter, no doubt).

Hugs and kisses all round. xx

runnerstipple · 08/12/2011 23:04

I've got Cambridge half on 11 March and then Olympic Park on 31st. I guess I'm worrying because my hip fucked up at Ipswich Half (in September) and is still causing grief even though I've been taking it really easy since then, and I REALLY want to be fit for the Olympic run. The GP said it could take a year to get better, and to 'lay off the marathons', but as its a half I decided to ignore her. Plenty of nurofen should sort it if its not better by March.

sfxmum · 08/12/2011 23:04

re FB it is possible to set up an invitation only group you know, I do that with some friends for specific reasons.

hope those up north are safe and warm

peach good advice here it seems, dd was not a possety baby, hope the situation improves

Hi all catch up properly soon

baked lots of cookies for tomorrow's Christmas school fair, have hairdresser appointment in the morning then helping out at school until late.

no running until Saturday, made a pact with dh to help each other get fit again, but he says he does not want to start any proper regime until the new year Hmm

runnerstipple · 08/12/2011 23:05

God you girls type fast...

runnerstipple · 08/12/2011 23:05

Night all

fannybanjo · 08/12/2011 23:06

Night sucky and go forth with marathon training - we can discuss our rubbed muffs come Springtime (mine was terribly chapped after 18 miler last week).

fannybanjo · 08/12/2011 23:09

Tipple the Olympic park one a once in a lifetime so if you're still niggling come February/March I'd drop out of the half if I was you however I'm not you!!

sfx tell DH that's a cop out. My friend said the same before. I laughed! I'm so evil re fitness, I don't take breaks from it so I'm not sympathetic to anyone who does then moans they've put weight on!!

ibbydibby · 08/12/2011 23:28

Sticky re marathon mileage, think I was "carried along" by the crowd (both spectators and other runners) once I had passed the distance of my longest training run. I think also that something keeps you going - your feet somehow plod one in front of the other.

Have just rattled through this evenings messages - you have all been busy here tonight. Enjoyed DS1's Christmas concert and church not quite as chilly as last year (or maybe I had remembered to dress in warmer clothes). Unfortunately got back to car, thinking it looked a bit further back and lower down than I had remembered parking it.....got into car and discovered I had not put handbrake on (or maybe it had slipped) and so car had rolled back half into a ditch but saved by a hedge Blush. Tried to drive car but it was well and truly stuck (ground v v muddy). Did what I always do in these situations and rang DH Blush. Decided that we would both have a think and I would ring him back in 5 minute.

However a guardian angel appeared, in the form of the owner of the car next to mine (this in itself was lucky as most cars had left) and he had a tow rope, which was brand new, and he had only bought it the previous week! And he towed me out. Was so grateful, and as his daughter is at DS1's school, I will prob send a box of choccies. Needless to say DH was very pleased when we called to tell him we had been pulled out.

Too much excitement, bed time now.

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 09:38

fanny I put a couple up on my profile. I don't like FB much, but we have lots of rellies in the US plus it's a good way to keep communication open with their dad. My account is not in my name and everything on it is limited to friends only...I know that's still not private, exactly.

good night here - no howling, just lots and lots of eating. Absolutely freezing, so DD2 slept on me for most of the night, while DP got zzz between feeds.

Getting out in the morning is somewhat challenging; dd1 also very upset because she accidentally head-butted the baby - baby fine.

Going to clean and mop and wipe and then try to get in 6km before picking up DD1 from nursery at 1.

ibbydibby · 09/12/2011 09:48

Lovely pics Rhet! DD1 looks gorgeous, and DD2 has that lovely contented sleeping newborn look. Hope DD1 less upset now.

Sunny here but also cold and windy.

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 09:54

bitterly cold here too

fannybanjo · 09/12/2011 10:32

Beautiful rhet the girls are gorgeous. I bet you are both so proud. Smile. Let's hope that A remains a chilled baby. How is DP?

LSR been postponed under this afternoon as I needed a poo. Hmm. Plus weather was awful! So shall tidy, clean then go out around 1pm.

stickyLFDTfingers · 09/12/2011 10:44

gah! The weather here is perfect for a run, but I've had so much to do this morning, and now I've visitors arriving (so tempting just to put a note on the door saying "back soon" and scarper anyway). I'm the hostess with the leastest....

ibby fate was smiling on you last night! It's funny how things all work out sometimes, isn't it?

rhet I love that one of A sleeping on her little fist. You have 2 beautiful little girls.

Xmas Angry it's sunny and not slippery!

have a nice poo fanny

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 10:52

fanny DP is fine, although disproportionately concerned about the future well-being of her parts - she's healing well and is delighted to see her tummy shrinking each day (thanks to DD2 and her frequent noshing).

the little hand up is lovely, isn't it? I suspect she did that in the womb -

have dashed around the house mopping, cleaning and wiping; realised that there are now four people's laundry piles to be sorted. What fresh hell is this? Oh look, an hour before it's time to run...

DebiTheScot · 09/12/2011 11:24

haha rhet I know what you mean about the washing. The only reason I will not have any more children is because I'd have a breakdown if the number of socks I had to wash and sort a week went from 56 to 70 (and that's without extra running, football etc pairs) Xmas Grin

peachLFDTsmuggler · 09/12/2011 11:52

Omg the washing!!!! We'll be back into the reusable nappies in the new year I think, and then....sheesh.

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 11:59

yes, our small ittis bittis are waiting for DD2 to be big enough to wear them...bless

monkeyLFDTwench · 09/12/2011 12:34

Ooooh yes, washing. I spend a huge amount of my day sorting out piles of pants. Ds3 is inordinately proud of his little pants, and they must be laid out carefully, not thrown in a pile.

Disaster today, the grim periods are back with a vengeance and I managed to bleed all over the bedroom carpet this morning. Straight through two big pads and my pyjamas, and it was more than a few spots Sad. Luckily DH is used to it, and was up there with the carpet shampooer at 6.45 am! Had to drive to school with a towel on the seat just in case. My only option now is to go back onto the Mirena, which worked great but turned me into the bitch from hell mood-wise.

ibby thank goodness all was OK with the car, I would have panicked in that situation.

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 13:51

monkey i too have had the blood flow from hell - turning us into the house of effluents...DP and I are thinking of investing in a home incinerator for our, um, personal waste. So sympathies.

Just did a decent enough run at the gym - 6k, about 38 mins. I'm doing almost no volume at the moment, so at least I can do some speed

rhetorician · 09/12/2011 15:11

speed being a relative term, of course Xmas Grin

orangeLFDThead · 09/12/2011 16:02

Another quickie, should have time to catch up later.
Thankyou for the trax fanny.
I am really gutted as it is looking quite unlikely I am doing the stockport 10 Sad Sad I have come down with a really bad cough and feel really rough. Combined with not knowing if my knee will be ok for 10 miles it is not looking good. But Im not giving up yet and will see how I am tomorrow. But I'm not going to be silly either if I'm not up to it then I won't. But really disappointed [sorry thats alot of but's].
Hope everyone else is ok and sorry for me post but will read later
