All ye fine runners who wish to get together to discuss running-related topics, or otherwise, come and join us here. We are a friendly and incredibly supportive group of runners, varying in ability, but all bonded together by a common theme of loving running, committed to squeezing it into our busy lives and wanting to improve our own PBs. So whether you are a full-time mum, part-time working mum, full-time working mum, working from home mum, mum who is studying, or even a dad Grin, add your race to the list so you can be sure of some moral support and advice along the way. And if you aren't racing, don't worry as you can enjoy the race reports and race vicariously.

I'm happy to split a pack with someone if possible - having nearly slipped over this morning I regretted not saying anything yesterday!

No worries if it changes your quantities though Fanny.

orangeLFDThead · 05/12/2011 09:29

If not too late fanny I will spilt that pack with Wednesday

rhetorician · 05/12/2011 09:33

all good with anastasia, actually...going in to fetch them home shortly. DD1 much better and gone to nursery.

Sneakily wondering if I might manage half an hour of running this afternoon, if DD2 is snoozing...she fed from 4-7am, apparently...

ibbydibby · 05/12/2011 09:46

Rhet re the running clubs, agree with orange's suggestion with trying both. I think different running clubs run (pardon the pun)very differently. There are 2 in my area, one focuses on the more athletic (ie faster) runners and leaves the slower ones trailing (or so I'm told). The one I'm in seems to cater for all standards. Eg in taking part in last weeks half marathon were 32 of our club members, the fastest finsished in 1hr 21, the slowest in (I think) 2hr 45. All were congratulated at our club meeting this week. By going to both you will get an idea of which fits you better.

So, is DD2 officially Anastasia? (sorry if have missed something). Glad that DD1 better. V envious of new born bliss...mmmmmm.....

monkeyLFDTwench · 05/12/2011 09:48

Glad to hear all well Rhet. Hark at fanny with her bulk orders Smile.

Really icy on the way to school today. Getting worried about the driving now. It was awful last year - 3 very steep hills up and down to school on country lanes, plus all the mummies in their huge cars driving like maniacs Angry. Have got winter tyres which help, but am counting the days till they break up on the 15th. Can't think what else I can do.

Managed 6.5 miles yesterday feeling a bit better. Will Shred later.

rhetorician · 05/12/2011 10:02

yes, she's officially anastasia, which is what we had originally decided on. Happy with it - a very big name for a very small girl (49cm, even smaller than DD1!)

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 10:06

Haha no orange and MrsWed it's not too late!! I'm getting sorted then going. Need 4 packs now and loads of tape! I won't wait until you've all sent me the money as I trust youse...! Grin Anyone who hasn't PM'd me their address, do so and I'll try and get them sent today, if not, tomorrow.

So rhet Anastasia it is then? Smile. Glad all ok, I'm sure you could do a short run later....

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 10:08

Just to re-iterate - £8.50 per pair inc postage. £6 for Trax, £2.50 for postage. Smile

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 10:14

sticky might want some....

stickyLFDTfingers · 05/12/2011 10:47

hello! Came in to see if there was any more news, haven't been for my run yet (bad sticky).

rhet anastasia is also a lovely name! are you pronouncing ay - sia or are -sia? Just so I've got it in my head right. Sounds like she is wanting to grow a bit already, bless her! DD1 was like that - the nurses said she was the boldest baby on the ward!

fanny I would have done, but I got some trax in early this year, cos they sold out in Durham and Potsdam last year when it got so bad. Was pretty icy this morning. DD2 ended up on her bum, she was not impressed Xmas Grin. The boys were loving it tho, lots of skidding.

Like the sensible person wuss that I am I'm delaying running til the sun has melted it. Walked down into town - town's OK but the hill to it is a skating rink.

MoshiMoshi · 05/12/2011 11:11

Anastasia is a gorgeous name. Pleased you have resolved that one, rhet.

I am having A Bad Day. (1) I trod in dog poo on the school run (2) I scuffed my neighbour's new Audi parking (I never do this! I am A Good Driver. Why me? Why today?!) (3) The British Gas man told me my boiler must be switched off as the flue needs replacing. It is 3 degrees...

Managed a 10K runwithdog and sononbike (he is off today as his school has a holiday). Feel like a Womble I am so slow.

sticky no worries, didn't want to miss you out. Smile

It's freezing here too, not looking forward to speed intervals to tonight. Had 2 days rest after 18 miler, I definitely need it after a long run. So tonight plan intervals, tomorrow easy 8 miler with 4 miles at HM pace. Thursday rest then LSR Friday. Not going to Dubai, it's too much hassle this close to Christmas and if I don't get on the flight, well, I'm stranded in London on Friday night.

MoshiMoshi · 05/12/2011 12:26

fanny - you would never be stranded in London! If you change your mind and needed a place to stay because you did get stranded, you just need to PM me.

OP posts:
orangeLFDThead · 05/12/2011 12:28

Rhet Anastasia is a lovely name too. Is dp happy with the change?
Oh dear moshi, hope you day gets better.
Thanks fanny will pm you with my details let us know yours too. Thats a shame about Dubai. Hope you not too disappointed. Are you going any where else or leaving it?
I was going do hills on the big hill from the race but unsure due to my knee. Anyhow rang my mum as she lives just near there and she said its icy and my dad fell this morning going to the car (he ok) so that made my decision. So went to gym and did hills on treadmill. I normally really struggle on treadmill but I did quite well so pleased. Went on one of those vibrating machines after to massage legs. Obviously made the right decision to go to the gym bcause when I came out my car was covered on big hailstones Shock. I would not of been impressed running in that.

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 12:41

Moshi sorry you've had a bad day - no wonder things are going wrong, you must be so stressed. Thank you so much for your kind offer but at this time in your life you don't need a visitor landing on your doorstep late Friday eve, with only a bikini and Sari in her fanny pack Grin. Offer is appreciated though, you are very kind. Smile

Right I have 8 pairs of snow Trax! I'll attempt to wrap them today and posted, if not, will be tonight. Think I'm only waiting on monkey's address.

monkeyLFDTwench · 05/12/2011 12:42

orange good luck for your appointment - tomorrow isn't it?

rhet they're both beautiful names, you can't go wrong. At least you haven't got my MIL telling you the name we gave ds2 is "common". Unresolved issues with her dad I think, as it's his name - a heavy drinker, bullied his poor wife into an early grave, was evil to his daughters - all becuase he wanted a son. When he finally had a son after 4 daughters they were all forced back to Catholicism (he had left the church because he was angry at having daughters) in thanks for the son Hmm, and she now clings to some very strange and very rigid religious ideals. No wonder the poor woman is screwed up.

fanny - am channeling my inner fanny today , a whole day of cleaning Smile. Your fault lady, you make us all feel inadequate! And you will always be welcome chez monkey darn sarf if you can lower your standards to some ready mash 'n' a Greggs sausage roll ...... you're all welcome chez monkey!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 05/12/2011 12:42

Ditto what Moshi says fanny, am in London so you'd be more than welcome to stay if you change your mind and get stranded!

Moshi, oh dear, what a day. The only way is up!!

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 12:43

orange if your knee is sore defo stick to treadmill and push up the incline. Hope it's better for Sunday. Gutted I'm not doing it with you. Sad

peachLFDTsmuggler · 05/12/2011 12:46

Oh yes, good luck tomorrow orange, don't let the doc fob you off!

monkey, be a doll and come round and do mine once you've finished! It is a pigsty round this way!!

peachLFDTsmuggler · 05/12/2011 12:49

Last night, was trying to rock K to sleep while walking up and down and treating her to a rendition of the Stockport 10 Goody Bag rap on a loop. She was so excited by this she kept wide awake!!!

Glad the decision re. names has been made Rhet, everyone happy now? Both lovely names!

ibbydibby · 05/12/2011 12:50

Moshi really feel for you re the boiler switch-off - is it going to be sorted soon? When we first moved into our house 3 years ago we realised central heating not up to much, and were going through motions of having boiler replaced and other major works (switching from oil to LPG, necessitating tank in garden, requiring hole to be dug...) then the old boiler packed up completely and we were without heating for 3 longgg cold weeks in Nov/Dec while waiting for the work to start. Was blissful once all done though. Sorry about dog poo also - gross.

Perishing cold here, accompanied by really strong wind, and lovely sunshine. Still a bit sinussy. Not going to running club tongiht, as don't fancy running in such cold air, but have been swimming this morning. Will attempt a day time run on Wed I think Hoping to do a 10 mile race in a couple of weeks, but waiting to see how I feel before entering/adding name to list.

Well done everyone who has been out so far this morning, is certainly a chilly one.

ibbydibby · 05/12/2011 12:55

ps Fanny re trax offer, you are doing a roaring trade for Costco! Sorry I hadn't responded. I don't think I want any, just didn't want you to think I was rude in not saying anything. Are you all getting these to use to run in when it's icy? I hadn't thought of this, just thought they were used for normal walking. I am now a bit tempted by you all to go and look at them at Costco here.

Rhet are you all home yet? What's DD1's reaction to DD2? How's DP? T

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 13:11

monkey ah bless you you little wench, thanks! Imagine your poor families with me turning up!! Shock. Re your MIL's dad, that is shocking. These types of men make me ill.

peach thank you also. HEY I could have hand delivered everyone's snow Trax!

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 13:13

ibby don't be daft, you don't have to mention it! I also got some ace Head gloves. They have pads on the fingertips do you can use iPods, Garmins etc.

fannybanjo · 05/12/2011 13:14

Yes ibby to run in. Hope they work!
