Anyone want to join me? It means we should start 2012 being able to run 5k - now there's an incentive to stick with it.

Hi bugrit. Please come and join us.

Is anybody else changing shape? I looked at my hideously flabby thighs in the mirror yesterday and they didn't 9repulse me.

This bodes well for the post Christmas jeans buying expedition because I ought to have some that fit which don't have holes in the knee from chasing a toddler around.

Haha, just came to see if anyone had posted because I need motivation this morning ... Woke up to a few inches of snow so I may have to brave the treadmill at the gym later on. I've never used it before so that'll be an experience!

Less fearsome thighs is excellent motivation!

Wk2 r3 done. Treadmill - yuck. But better than not running. Hot and sweaty but managed fine, bring on week 3 (and piss off snow!) :)

musttidyupmusttidyup · 04/12/2011 15:18

W3R2 complete and fine. Am so surprised I can run 3 mins without too much trouble!

golemmings · 04/12/2011 16:51

Where on earth are you obugrit? I saw on Facebook that my friend in Perth has snow.

Currently at mil's with hordes of kids. Half are leaving after tea and I will go out when ours have gone to bed. W3 here we come.

Well done everyone!

Bugrit, I'm much preferring the treadmill and find it sooo much easier that I'm wondering if it even counts??

So W3R1 done and I found it so agreeable that I did 5 minutes at the end instead of 3!

I can't tell you how chuffed I am that i can do that, so soon after struggling to go for a minute Grin

I don't think I'm changing shape though, still distinctly barrel shaped, which is nice.

ohbugrit · 04/12/2011 20:50

Great to have a few people at around the same stage as me, it's encouraging. :)

I'm in the Highlands so I'm going to have to suck it up and learn to love the treadmill, because it could be snowy here for a few days or a few months now, who knows?!

Hambles I prefer running outside - I have the dogs for company, there are no other people and if there are they hopefully don't recognise me in my disguise hat, and it's more interesting because I can vary the route. Plus I have been running at night (mainly to avoid being seen by people I know!) and in the woods, with a headtorch, so it's much more exciting/stupid than indoor running. Plus the faff of fiddling with the treadmill buttons every couple of minutes concerns me - I am guaranteed to come flying off the thing eventually.

I bloody love this though Grin

WELL DONE everyone :)

musttidyupmusttidyup · 04/12/2011 21:52

musttidyupmusttidyup · 04/12/2011 21:56

What trying to slur say is
Come On now ladies we should be PROUD to be running not hiding at night or in the gym. I am past giving a shite and besides if anyone says anything I can't hear with my iPod on Grin

Just in case anyone was wondering I have had too much wine.

ohbugrit · 04/12/2011 22:11

musttidyup it doesn't matter about the wine, your new superfast metabolism will burn off the calories in a blink!

CarolCervix · 05/12/2011 10:57

i think i feel smaller. the scales say i'm not but i think i might be. which is good.

although i'm working some nights now so body clock will be all over the place and will probably put on another stone from 4am eating.

golemmings · 05/12/2011 18:39

I LOVE WEEK 3.

It's fab. Love the fewer intervals, proud that I can run the 3 minute runs without too much pain and managed a negative split too. Sorry, I went away and stumbled across runners world beginner's pages and discovered that negative splits (running later sections faster than early ones) is a good thing.

I ran out and back today - benefit of being in a town with long roads - and started the programme just before I stepped out of the door, turned just after the half way mark and finished just as I approached the front door, thereby managing a negative split by about 3 seconds.

Tidy, love the drunken posts; please can we have more? Do we have to wait until next weekend or can we lead you astray mid-week?

Hope your body clock survives, Carol.

That post may in fact be enough to get me out of bed and in the gym at 7.30am tomorrow, golemmings, thank you! Still ice and snow everywhere so I'm an indoor runner for the moment :(.

I have been recording my runs on Endomondo but there's not much point on a treadmill, which is a shame because logging them is quite interesting and motivating.

musttidy, how's your head? Wink

ohbugrit · 06/12/2011 10:08

Week 3 run 1 done :)

I'm cross with myself because halfway through the second 3 minute run I accidentally hit the stop button. I had to quickly restart it manually so I lost about half a minute. I ran for an extra bit once I got it going again but i still feel like a cheat. I'm telling myself that it doesn't matter because i still have two chances to have proper runs this week.

DH is quietly considering having a shot too which I'm excited about ... Evangelical now!

My legs ache a lot less between runs than they did at first, which is nice.

Happy running! :)

musttidyupmusttidyup · 06/12/2011 18:55

golemmings you can rely on plenty of drunken posts from meGrin. Week 3 is great, time goes quickly and feels easier than week2. bugrit funny you should say that about your DH because mine was saying something along the same lines which would be great for him.
It's so cold and damp out and have to do R3 tonight after put the tidddlers to bed. Really not looking forward to it.

ohbugrit · 06/12/2011 20:12

must, I think it's good in the cold because after you've run for a bit you warm up and feel even more invigorated. I went out last week in DH's baselayer, a thin fleece and a windcheater, support pants and leggings, and despite wind and rain I was fine after 5 minutes. I'm sure I looked like a dedicated professional Grin

musttidyupmusttidyup · 06/12/2011 21:00

W3R3 done and feeling hot hot hot! Too late to fix proper dinner now so having 2 ritz biscuits a couple of squares of choc and a glass of wine!

HamblesHandbag · 07/12/2011 09:39

The weather is horrendous here today; cold, rainy and blowing a gale the school run was an ordeal and now I wish I could just crawl back under my duvet...BUT I WON'T

I'm heading to the gym to do W3R2, then I have a facial booked in for afterwards Smile

HamblesHandbag · 07/12/2011 13:43

Well the run is done, but I can't say I enjoyed it - felt hard today. Maybe last night's Wine had something to do with that. Hmm

However, I did it and was rewarded with a blissful dermalogica facial straight afterwards. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaah...

If only that could be my reward every time?!
