Shred for Couchto5Kers and anybody else

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/09/2011 20:51

This thread is a spin off from the CouchTo5k 2011 Pt 3, where some of us decided that as well as doing the C25K we would try the Shred (preferably wearing purple nail varnish)

All Shredders are welcome, not just those from the C25k thread (and not just those with purple nails).

. Double checked after DH asked me what day I was on, and today is day 21. We are just back from a long walk, so having half an hour rest before facing day 1 of level 3. I'll let you know later if I survive

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 25/09/2011 23:56

Oh.my.days.

Do not go there.

Level 2 Day 6, done. Over half way. It definitely felt better after a couple of days break, my muscles and joints needed a bit of recovery time. I am going to give myself the weekend off from now on I think.

L2D7 done. Again, it felt just slightly easier today, although still haven't got the hang of those twisting planks at the end. Can't say I'm exactly enjoying it though! I hate the sweatiness, that is one of my big problems with all exercise, I could never live in a hot humid climate. I'm having to wipe my face at least every change of exercise. That's is one of the things I like about running, the cool breeze stops your face feeling too sweaty.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 28/09/2011 04:04

Well done WhoKnows. I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets hot and sweaty. It's still horribly humid here, so I'm reaping the benefits of both face shine and hair frizz Grin

Don't worry about the twisting planks, there are new horrid plank challenges to master in level 3.

melodyangel · 28/09/2011 14:32

I haven't shredded for almost a week. Blush

Do you think Jillian will send her best girls round?

Did run last night though which felt really good didn't even 'phone' in the hills.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 28/09/2011 15:47

Melody She might send Badass Nadalee round to simper menacingly at you!

I'm phoning in today, it's really hot, I have too much else to do and I am going out tonight. I'm not giving up though, I just think it is asking too much of myself to do it for 30 days in a row.

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 28/09/2011 17:09

Arf at Nadalee simpering menacingly. I've phoned in the last few days so she'll probably be round here next - I've been too busy in the mornings, the DC have had friends here most afternoons and I've been too busy and exhausted in the evenings.

Really must do Day 5 today. My new weights have arrived! They don't feel too heavy if I just pick them up, but I suspect it will be a different matter if I actually start exercising with them.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 28/09/2011 23:17

I phoned it in this morning as well. I had a terrible night's sleep (as in very little) so stuck the alarm on for 7.30 instead of 6.30. But I am going to do it now, before I get stuck into a bottle of bubbly and the new champagne glasses I bought DH for our 15th wedding annivesary (today!)

My 4lb weights arrived today. I'd somehow got it into my head they would be purple but they are turquoise!

melodyangel · 29/09/2011 10:47

Congratulations Shredded!

Simpering bad ass Nadalee actually kicking me in the butt! Grin

I'm taking a break from the shred while the weather holds, have lots to do outside and the allotment looks like a jungle. Shall keep running though. Dh finally seems to be back on board and I dragged my bike out the shed to take DS2 cycling yesterday. It was his first time out on the road. I aged about 10 years in one afternoon.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/09/2011 22:55

Back on the drugs and back on the shred. Level 2 day 6 done today.

Well done Pistey. I made a half hearted effort yesterday but realised half way through that I was going to be late getting somewhere and stopped. Going to boot DS off the Wii in a minute and do it before the house warms up too much, then it's out of the way.

I have phoned it in shred-wise all weekend BUT

  • I did 2 x 20 mile plus cycle rides
  • a 3 mile run
  • a 6 mile walk

and there was I expecting a chilled out long weekend lounging on sofas and reading magazines.

GettinTrimmer · 03/10/2011 10:20

Hi all, I've not been on for a while. I've been catching up with level 1, and it will be my first day of level 2 tomorrow. I remember from doing it before there is a double jump rope.

I should be on level 2 by now but couldn't face shredding in front of the plasterer!

shredded That is impressive exercise

pistey I once watched level 3 from my armchair...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/10/2011 10:42

Well, I have been unshredded for the best part of a week now, just been too busy and too hot. Going to try and get back to it today with Level 2, which I had done about 7 times, but I think I might have to do it more than 3 times before going to Level 3......

OP posts:
WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/10/2011 14:23

I'm Shredded! It wasn't too bad considering I haven't done it for nearly a week, just got to keep going with it now

OP posts:
JelliBelli · 03/10/2011 22:58

Hi all,

Just a quickie as it's time for bed but I Shredded at last but 'only' L1. I have been a slacker recently so might leap up to L2 next time as L1 wasn't too bad tonightShock.

am impressed with everyones progress though, well done.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 03/10/2011 23:02

Hello all,

I got with the program this morning and had another go at L3. There's one I can't do at all where you balance on handweights while doing a one-legged plank. Honestly, who dreams up these things?

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 05/10/2011 12:32

Day 28 done. Had we not gone away for the weekend I would be finished by now.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/10/2011 21:25

Day 19 done. I am definitely ready to move onto Level 3 now (not in the sense that I am finding Level 2 easy, no, no, no, just that I don't think I can take any more of Jillian and Nadalee failing to engage in light hearted banter about calories burnt and bending your knees properly).

Shredded - is that the thing in the intro where they are doing a sort of side plank?

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 06/10/2011 21:38

You can just tell that Nadalee is not impressed with Jillian's banter, can't you?

As I wrote on the other thread, I'm having a few problems with my knee so have decided to take a break from the Shred until next week at least. Well, that's my excuse.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 07/10/2011 04:40

WhoKnows, the side plank is easy in comparison to the balance on your weights one leg in the air malarkey.

I think I will just stay on circuits 1 and 2 of level 3. Circuit 3 is just horrid.

Linzer, I hope your knee is OK

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 09/10/2011 19:16

Just wanted to bump the thread a bit, where is everyone? I'm signed off sick with sciatica, can walk but am in quite a bit of pain so definitely no to running and shredding for a few days. And I was so looking forward to Level 3 Grin.

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 09/10/2011 20:44

Sorry to hear about your sciatica, WhoKnows. I remember how painful it was from when I had it, although that was a while ago now (when I was pregnant with DD1) - I could barely walk as it was so painful.

I've decided to take a break from the Shred to give my knee a rest; I'll just stick to the running for the next few weeks, but am planning on returning to the Shred if I don't have any more problems. Am also devastated not to be doing Level 3. Grin
