Shred for Couchto5Kers and anybody else

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/09/2011 20:51

This thread is a spin off from the CouchTo5k 2011 Pt 3, where some of us decided that as well as doing the C25K we would try the Shred (preferably wearing purple nail varnish)

All Shredders are welcome, not just those from the C25k thread (and not just those with purple nails).

Day three done - yippee one tenth of the way there!

Linzer - I'm way behind you.

Are we supposed to be able to "Natalie" it before we move up to the next level?

Had a quick look at level two today so I had some idea of what's coming ... Oh heck!

LinzerTorte · 14/09/2011 13:17

Yes, I'd noticed Natalie slacking in one part too - can't remember whether it was in the punches bit, but I'll check later!

melody I'm certainly not going to be able to Natalie all of it before I move up to Level 2; I don't think I'll ever be able to do proper, non-modified press-ups, for example. I think you can just copy her moves if you're up for something a bit more challenging, but I don't see it as obligatory. (Oh, and thank you - I feel better now that I know I'm not the only one who hasn't virtually finished Level 1!).

Have just realised a friend of DD1's will be here in 45 minutes so I need to Shred NOW (felt far too awake after shredding yesterday evening, so I've decided I need to stick to the afternoons).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 14/09/2011 13:27

I can't do Natalie press-ups either, although I am finding the Anita style ones easier since I started putting a cushion under my knees. I daren't look at Level 2!

LinzerTorte · 14/09/2011 14:06

Right, have just done Day 5, keeping my beady eye on Natalie the whole time. And she does indeed slack off - in the strength section of circuit 2, when Jillian shows us how Anita does the static lunges and bicep curls bit, Natalie stops doing the lunges and just does the bicep curls. Shock

Ha!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/09/2011 14:10

WhoKnows - hope your DD is better soon
Day 9 coming up

I've only just found out what phoning it in means!!

JelliBelli · 14/09/2011 16:39

Hi all,

I was about to say that 'Nadalee' phones it in big style in the lunge and bicep curl bit but Linzer has pointed it out already.

Last time i did 30DS I moved up after 10 days at that point I was working with Nadalee the whole way through except the push ups. For those I started Nadalee style and changed to Anita style when I couldn't do any more Nadalee ones. I managed L2 ok (splutter, splutter)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/09/2011 18:54

Day 9 - tick

melodyangel · 14/09/2011 19:51

Well done Pistey! How are you feeling?

Whoknows - Hope your DD is better.

Linzertorte - glad to be helpful with my slacker ways!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/09/2011 09:05

Thanks Melody - she's gone back to school today, apparently the bug has been going round. Just hoping DS doesn't get it!

Day 10 - tick. Managed to whack DS in the face doing a jumping jack (oops). I'm going to watch Level 2 later and try it tomorrow.

Nagoo · 15/09/2011 10:43

Baby did not sleep yesterday afternoon so there was no day 7 Blush

Will report back if when I get round to doing it today.

Keep going ladies, think about jeans shopping Wink

melodyangel · 15/09/2011 10:47

Good luck with level 2 - WhoKnows let us know how you get on.

shreddedandnotatallsmug · 15/09/2011 12:24

blardy hell, level 2 done. WhoKnows, hope you find it easier than I did! I'd just got myself co-ordinated enough to do level 1 and there are all sorts of new moves to learn.

I didn't have my usual banana first, so was badly flagging by the end (mental note to go shopping on way home from work this evening).

Keep going everyone!

melodyangel · 15/09/2011 12:55

Well done shredded! I shall try your banana trick.

Day 4 - complete. Doubt I'll get to shred for the next few days.

Who's still running? I shall drag DH out this weekend - by the balls if I have too. Grin

LinzerTorte · 15/09/2011 13:11

I'll be running tomorrow, melody - it's a shame that today was my non-running day, as it's been nice and cool here today but is supposed to be warming up again tomorrow. Oh well, not long to go until autumn arrives (on Sunday, apparently - weather-wise, at least).

Day 6 for me later. I was really tempted to do it this morning, but then remembered that DD2 and DS had both said they wanted to be here so thought I'd better wait. I could always have done it twice, I suppose. Grin

shredded Hope you have bananas now! I had to go and stock up this morning as I've been bananaless for the past six days - the result of the DC plus three friends deciding they all wanted a banana at the weekend (my week's supply gone in five minutes!).

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/09/2011 14:49

I'm still running Melody, have been out every other day (shred first thing, run in the evening). I'm due to run tonight, but DS has now been sent home from school sick, so I might not make it, half expecting to catch it myself.

OP posts:
LinzerTorte · 15/09/2011 15:03

Oh no, has he caught the bug too WhoKnows? Hope you manage to avoid it. DH didn't get it here (although he was the one who looked after the DDs when they were sick - I'm an emetophobe, although can just about cope with the DC being sick, not DH though).

LinzerTorte · 15/09/2011 15:06

Ah, have just read on the other thread that he has - fingers crossed he's better soon.

DD1 has just asked for a banana, now DS wants one too. It's a slippery slope, I tell you - I'll have none left for next week again! (They never used to eat them, which is why I only ever bought them for myself.)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/09/2011 15:13

shall I just go onto stage 2. That is the question? I'm contemplating it as I am so bored of stage 1. I would be on day 10 today.

What shall I do fellow shredders?

Nagoo · 15/09/2011 16:04

done my 20 mins for the day :)

LinzerTorte · 15/09/2011 16:04

Day 6 done.

I don't see why not Pistey, if you're getting bored of Level 1. You could always do Level 2 for 11 days (or if you get bored of that early, spend even longer on Level 3 Grin).

Nagoo · 15/09/2011 16:05

I'd wait. stage two is horrible and I rushed to stage 3 and ended up doing it forever....

RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/09/2011 16:10

What I shall do is decide when I put the dvd on! See how i feel Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/09/2011 17:31

I'm going to stick with it for the 10th day and try and push myself just that bit harder on it first. Every time I do it I notice something I could be doing better/harder. Yesterday I was doing the shoulder strength bit when you are squatting and pulling the weights back and Jillian said put your arms out not down and I realised I was dropping them a bit down and keeping them higher made a big difference.

So, Nagoo, what is the worst bit about Level 2?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 15/09/2011 17:33

Blimey.....WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes - don't ask that!!!!!

although...

I'm going to do Day 10. Then Sweaty will do Day 1 stage 2 today, then I will know how much she hurts before launching in to it myself.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 15/09/2011 17:40

I like to know what I'm up against!

Yes, come on Sweaty, we need to know what we're in for!

I have just realised that I said I was going to stick with it for the 10th day but today was the 10th day.......

So, tomorrow then, Level 2. And then probably back to Level 1 on Saturday!
