I need a Shred buddy

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

LOL! When I told DH I was about to start my Shred as soon as I'd had a wee, he looked at me like Hmm! Grin

There's lots like that! Grin

Hi ladies, I have a query about shred.
I did my first day at L1 yesterday and tbh I didn't find it that tough. I did all the Nat exercises (except push-ups that I did half full ones and half on knees). I don't ache and I wasn't really out of breath from the cardio.
Now, I'm not super-fit or anything but I have been doing 5/6 exercise classes at the gym since february and I have struggled with lots of the stuff at circuits in particular. However my instructor for circuits and boot-camp is a complete sadist and makes us do hundreds of burpees, crunches, squats and jumping jacks every week so I think my body has got used to a certain level. I also run about 4K twice weekly, but I do find running a real challenge.

Anyway, I bought the DVD to do on the evenings that I am not at the gym so I plan to do it 4 times a week to help tone up my mid-section, especially lower abs which are stubbornly refusing to get in line! The only move that I felt difficult was the reverse crunch, and I have always found this pretty painful I think due to issues with my stomach muscles caused by having DS 2 years ago.

So, my question is i guess can I just move on to level 2 stright away? Does it still work like that or are you meant to do a set number of days at each level? Should i just stick with level 1 for a few more days with perhaps heavier weights (only used 1kg). Or maybe do a few days of level 2 and switch back to level one for a bit of variety?
I don't really understand how it works, do you HAVE to do 10 days on each level or something?

btw, you all seem to be doing really well, especially those that have just started with this and not really used to exercise. If I hadn't been going to these classes recently I think this DVD would have killed me, so fair-play!

PattheHammer - no, you are super-fit! 5/6 classes at gym and running 4K twice a week???!

I tried the Shred yesterday for the first time at level 1 and I found it HARD. And I have been going to the gym 3 times a week since January, so thought I was reasonably fit, but obviously not. But planning to try again this afternoon if I can fit it in, so I'll be interested to see if it feels any easier today.

I can already feel the difference in my bottom - or "glutes" as gym people always say - so that's encouraging!

MaureenMLove · 15/04/2011 19:16

I'll be back on Monday peeps. My toe has had a rest this week, and although I'm still struggling to put anything other than flip flops on (couldn't even try on and buy shoes today and that hurt more than just my toe!!Grin) I think I'll be OK.

Just checking in - I shall be re-starting next week. Had a bit of a chesty cold all week so not really been up to it. mind you, DH is away half the week and I'll have work/revising so who knows if/when I'll fit it in!!!

Patthehammer - you sound fit to me. If level one isn't a challenge I'd go straight to level 2.

Kbear · 16/04/2011 18:19

My dvd is still wrapped... it was delivered two weeks ago.... >

PatTheHammer · 16/04/2011 20:18

Ok, so I tried level 2 this evening and I can see what the hype is about, I am a sweaty mess!!!!

Think I am going to try swapping between 1&2 for variety until I can master the squat thrusts and plank Jack thingys.

Thank goodness I found the option today where you can just have music and not Jillian's voice too, the idea of having to listen to the same old drivel for 30 days was starting to worry meGrin.

Oh, and Ha-ha at me being super-fit. I know it sounds a lot but you should see me after classes, I am absolutely DESTROYED. There are some proper super-fit people at my gym and I do aspire to be like that one day, its a long way off though. I guess I am about a hundred times fitter than I was in January though so heigh-ho!

Super-sal- It's really hard to make time, I don't have much time as I have two small DC's and I teach 3.5 days a week but i usually double up 45min exrecise classes and I time it so i go as DH is doing bedtime routine about 6.30/6.45 (he doesn't see them in the morning so he loves spending that time with them) and if its only one class then I am back within an hour. I also do a class quite early on a sat and sunday so its over by 10am and doesn't interfere with the weekend. mind you some weeks i only manage 4 classes and some weeks it is more, just depends what I have got on socially, how much work/parents evening etc I have to do. Running only takes me about 20-25mins so I usually pop out after kids in bed, the light evenings are fab for this.......not so motivated when it was freezing and raining in feb!

PatTheHammer · 16/04/2011 20:20

Tuttifrutti- i know what you mean about your 'glutes' my bum is starting to feel like I am permanently clenching it. Its fab! I have always had such a squishy behind that the change is quite alarmingShock

maureen and keepcalm- get well soon, its so annoying when you can't exrecise. I had an ankle injury a few weeks back which meant no running for 2 weeks and i hated it!

I've done it once this week, but I think I need the routine of being at work, to get my head around it!

On the upside, because I do not have direct access to a vending machine and damn good school food most of the day, I appear to have lost some inches! Grin My benchmark work trousers definately fit better than they did before the school holidays!

So, I guess I'll be back on Tuesday, when I'm back at work. I'd do Monday, but the bessie mate is coming for high tea and cocktails, so no point! Grin

Kbear · 21/04/2011 21:01

I have a pain in the neck (apart from Maureenmlove) so I am unable to shred with you girls... sadly...
