I need a Shred buddy

Brahbrah · 20/03/2011 13:49

I had a Shred buddy but she knackered her knees. It turns out I have no self-motivation at all as I haven't done it once since she stopped.

Anyone looking at a neglected copy of the 30 Day Shred and want to buddy up? We had managed to get to day 10 and had just moved up to level 2 when we stopped, but I'm happy to start again at day 1.

Not much required, just a daily check in to say, 'yep, done it for today, how about you?'

Whaddya say?

Cut the excuses girls i am just about to do d2 l1 even tho baby decided to hit 4 mos regression yesterday and ive had about 2 hrs sleep.I can barely be bothered to go upstairs to get my trainers tho, will be back to report if still alive Grin

ledkr · 19/05/2011 12:36

did it!! It felt a tad harder but thats probably lack of sleep, feel better for it tho.

PatTheHammer · 19/05/2011 13:37

Well done ladies, shredding with sleep deprivation and everything is very impressive!

I shredded last night out of guilt and managed to do the horrible plank things (where you are in a plank on your weights and you raise alternate arms and legs) without putting my knees down, hurrah! Did Aerobics this morning (more of a body combat/aerobics hybrid class) and my abs were a little sore for the first time in ages so I reckon the shred is deffo doing something that my other classes aren't quite touching. I am especially encouraged by Badpoet's suggestion that it will help me eat more takeaway without feeling uncomfortableGrin
Side planks still my nemesis though, start doing Nat ones and then have to wimp out and do Anita style for the last 15 secondsBlush

I'm making Level 3 sound loads of fun aren't I!

Keep it up all :)

Othersideofthechannel · 19/05/2011 16:27

More excuses from me I'm afraid. I had a bout of insomnia last night and finally fell asleep at 3am so couldn't get up early enough to do it today. I have to start at 6.15am in order to fit it in before school run and work.

But I went swimming at lunchtime.

ledkr · 19/05/2011 17:48

also cycled to and from dd's ballet class, feel all fit and energeticbut am well aware this is an illusion Grin

Othersideofthechannel · 20/05/2011 05:43

L2 D3 completed
About half Nathalie, half Anita.

Also day 10 of Shredding so one third of the way there!

orangina · 20/05/2011 09:57

So I didn't manage to shred last night as I went out and I couldn't squeeze it in between feeding/bathing kids etc. I did manage to do about 10-15 minutes of hula hooping while they have a bath though, so not ALL lost I hope?!

Will definitely shred tonight.

Otherwise, am v impressed you have hit the 10 day mark.... best I have managed to date is about 6......

Brianstorm · 20/05/2011 10:31

Just finished L3D2 - I'm in the nice wee bit when you still don't really know what you're doing so the time passes really quickly! Isn't much harder than 2, just different. I sweat more with 2 - don't know whether that makes much difference. The abs exercise at the end I haven't a clue how to do - I'm definitely not doing it right - is anybody else struggling with this one?

Midnight - I can sort of do press-ups now, but have really struggled with any attempts at the full version. Figure it will keep on getting easier, but I don't have any shoulder injuries to be worried about.

Orangina - something is better than nothing, but Maureen said up thread, that it's about losing something else for 20 minutes, and I've kept that in mind ever since. Usually it's MN that's losing out at the minute - sometimes it's the hoovering/dishes/insert any other boring housework here. But I deserve that time Grin, and I'm feeling a million times better for making it part of my routine. It's now on my daily to-do list [list-lover emoticon]

OtherSide - you must be fit to move up early. I really did need the 10 days, if only as a milestone in my own head as to when I HAD to move up. Otherwise I would have lived in fear of the next level being too hard [grin0

Ledkr - can't believe how well you're doing already!

BadPoet, Pat and SuperSal - keep on keeping on Wink

Orangina, didn't mean to mislead you. It was my 10th session not 10th day in row.

Keep up the good work everyone.

OP seems to have disappeared but she was right, if you know others are doing it and you are not, it helps to motivate.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 12:25

I started shredding last night with DH. We are both unable to walk downstairs. Please send help, and preferably a kebab.

BadPoet · 20/05/2011 14:01

Afraid you are going to have to abseil out the window, Chickens. Or bump down the stairs on your bottom. What's a few more aches and pains?

L2d10! 2/3 of the way through and I don't hear as many horror stories about level 3! I'm not listening to you Pat I hope Anita gets more attention though, I was finding myself getting a bit annoyed at how much Jillian fawns over SuperNat. Although Nat's so nice, and kind of goofy in a tall gorgeous, athletic and enormously fit sort of way. Yes, I have given them personalities and created conflict. It helps me through.

I have to dash, sorry not got time to reply to everyone - keep going! Smile

carolemiddleclasston · 20/05/2011 14:17

Well I am seriously impressed. I have done Shred for about 2 weeks (missed 3 days as was hurting to the point where I was going to get a proper knee injury but did other exercise 2 of those days) plus extra abs exercises some days and already have my belt a few notches in. I have cut down the cr*p I eat a tiny amount but not much and have been drinking more water. Is this possible or a coincidence?

ledkr · 20/05/2011 14:19

chickens have been daring dh to do it with me,he has thus far refused,i think coas he doesnt want to get beaten by a girl!!Any chilli sauce?
I aggree about having to priorotise.I did the shred yesterday surrounded by baby paraphanalia and dirty nappies and then had a wet wipe down to keep me going till bathtime as i had an appointment Grin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 14:53

We are going to do this tonight, but it might actually kill me. I really hate Jillian's abs of steel and granite jaw. When I box, I am fantasising about smacking her right in the kisser. The hate is good, right?

ledkr · 20/05/2011 14:56

we are doing it too, about 7.30 and before an Asda curry and some wine Grin

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 20/05/2011 20:36

Day 2 level 1 done. Even the DC joined in. And laughed at me and DH gasping for air and wincing in pain.

PatTheHammer · 20/05/2011 21:04

No shred for me today as I am shattered from spin class this eveningGrin

Keep going everyone, you are all doing well.

Chickens, I like the idea of your whole family doing it together, DS who is 2 sometimes comes and has a chuckle at me and jumps around a bit but DH will never do it, he thinks Jillian is a he-she!
Oh, and yes, the hate is good, it definitely keeps me motivated!

Lol at Badpoets analysis of Anita and Nat. Thing is you can tell Anita is dead fit (check out her washboard!) and that she could easily do all the moves, shes just pretending to be crap!

Othersideofthechannel · 21/05/2011 06:33

Good morning fellow shredders.
Level 2, Day 4 completed.

I am jumping about as much as Nathalie for that skating move but not travelling as far due to having legs about half the length of hers!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 21/05/2011 08:44

OMFG. I can't bloody move today. I had to come down the stairs one step at a tome, sideways. I'm walking like I've been kicked in the non-existent nuts. Please tell me it gets better?

ledkr · 21/05/2011 09:06

Chickens yep i hurt after the 2nd day it goes by night. I am in no pain due to the fact my baby didnt settle untill 8 and then i was too tired o bother. Am doing it today defo tho.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 21/05/2011 20:11

Day 3 complete. And now I'm walking like I have no knees.

Othersideofthechannel · 22/05/2011 07:09

Good morning!

Level 2, Day 5 completed.

Chickens, I find the cool-down a bit short, perhaps you would be less stiff afterwards if you added some leg stretches?

Brainstorm, I'll be trying level 3 later this week, will let you know about the abs exercise.
Personally I feel the plank twists at the end of Level 2 aren't doing much for my abs, all I can feel is my shoulders screaming "enough!". I expect I'm not putting in enough twist because I'm concentrating on not collapsing!

ledkr · 22/05/2011 09:33

Otherside-I wont be doing planks as it does my shoulders in,shall have to adapt. I do a bit more stretches at the beginging and end and i havent ached that much or for long.
Ill be doing d5 of L1 in abit.I was loving the fact that i could do all the cardio vigorously yesterday, gave me a real boost. I think psychologicaly its great for me to stick at something and get better at it,i am feeling much better about my flabby baby body now as well and that is a vast improvement from feeling like i didnt want to go out.Going to add in some Nathalie today Grin

BadPoet · 22/05/2011 12:10

L3d1 ( had a break yesterday). That was...weird! Very different, but OK - I think, and quite fun in bits. Very much following Anita, knees on the floor & donkey kicks all the way.

Brianstorm, I agree about the last abs, I can't be doing it properly because I can do it! Also not feeling it in my abs particularly. Otherside, I also agree about the plank twists from level 2 - never felt it was as hard as any form of crunch but she described it as 'intense'.

Flew in today. I actually felt pleased at the end when Jillian goes on about how well I'm doing. Blush
