People had a say about the proposed change, well I never

SerendipityJane · 03/06/2022 18:26

Thanks for that, but it's left me a little confused as it's dated 2021 and therefore can't have anything to do with EU laws that the UK followed since the UK left in 2020. I was asking for the proof it was an EU regulation that had restricted the UK and that leaving had now - not some vague future time - was reverting the situation.

I was looking for the EU directive on the EU website. Could you signpost it, my European isn't very good.

whether "people have a say" is neither here nor there IMO. whether people, in Britain, can STOP it applying, in Britain, or vote out any government that dicrees it DOES apply, in Britain, is all that matters from my POV.

Directive 126 from 2006 would appear to be the legislation that codified this EU wide.

I accept it's a bit complicated as it's predated by some UK legislation which precudes >3.5 ton but =<7.5 ton vehicles from UK class B licences gained after, I think 1997, but still EU wide rules suplanted the domestic ones as far as I can see apart from "grandfathering rights" for older pre 1997 license holders. Here's the directive.

You're welcome 😊

Sorry I've not been here as much (but I have been reading!)

Lots going on...mum still not great, very busy at foodbank.

Hope everyone is OK?

I'm a Republican so am not celebrating the jubilee but hope it keeps fine for those that do...I well remember the awful weather 10 years ago for the diamond jubilee!

A friend popped in earlier and shared some lovely news so today has been wonderful 😊

Pleased you've had good news from your friend Chiswick, all the best to your Mum. Already created a part 8 thread. all welcome :-)

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:27

Thank you

Ah, well, folk can post on whichever thread they wish.

Thank you

Ah, well, folk can post on whichever thread they wish.

You're welcome. why would you start another one though? seems a bit off if I say so myself. I've been on these threads for YEARS, yet I can't start one??

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:34

But you have started one?
Who has prevented you?
I'm sure if people want to to post on it they will..

You started yours after mine. I've been on this board longer than you have I'm pretty sure. You HAVE to know that is a cheap shot?!

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:35

Rather tyrannical like the awful EU of you to insist posters must only post on your thread....

OP posts:
ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:39

Well...

  1. Wasn't aware you had to have a long service award to start a thread and anyway...
  2. This is a new nn and I've been on these threads since the 1st one
  3. You don't get to dictate who can start a thread nor who posts on it
I hope that helps?
OP posts:
LouiseCollins28 · 03/06/2022 19:42

I don't insist on anything. I don't see why, having created a new one, people would choose to post on another but that's up to them. Like I said, I've contributed to these boards for years. If people think that is worth nothing then that's their judgement, they are free to make it, as I'm free to judge those who ignore a warm welcome.

I'm sure people will post if they want to 🤷‍♀️

@ChiswickFlo - I recognise you from the very early threads, even though you've name changed. The stalwart work you do with the food bank is something that I admire. You, unlike many, have gone out to try to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.

Unfortunately, the government has not done the same Sad Brexit is but a small part of where they have made our lives more difficult.

The reduced growth being experienced in England, compared to NI (which is benefitting from the Protocol Shock contrary to the whines of the DUP Confused) is just one example of the damage being done Sad

LouiseCollins28 · 03/06/2022 19:47

Lets hope so, right now I'm feeling like the last time I tried to start a thread and got accused of being "goady". This time, I haven't been goady at all and still someone choses to post a second thread after mine was up and linked. Hard not to feel unwelcome in those circs.

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:56

It's about choice, surely? Despite what you may be trying to insinuate.

And - as you tell us often - choice is good, right?

OP posts:
ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 19:58

Many, many posters on these threads over many years have engaged with you, asked you questions, answered your questions...hardly unwelcome!?

You just don't get to dictate where people post 🤷‍♀️

I can only tell you how I feel. People usually post to wind me up on here tbh and I take it all with good grace and offer an alternative POV where I can. I almost can't believe the paucity of questions I get asked on here, were the balance the other way round I'd be asking soo many more....

Still, I'm in a minority of about 2 on these threads now so it's easy to feel under pressure. I did hope that the board might afford me the opportunity of starting one of this series of threads having been contributing for almost all of them, but if they wish to ignore me that's absolutely their right

You're right though, choice is good. I can't pretend to understand why people wish to reject me on here but if they do that's their choice.

ChiswickFlo · 03/06/2022 20:22

Good lord, this isn't year 9! 😳

If you want to post...post!

Just don't expect posters - whose lives and the lives of those they love - that have been badly affected by brexshit - to agree with or respect your views.

Your "alternative pov" is just denying that brexshit has caused (and continues to cause) real suffering without one tangible benefit so far, despite posters making clear the struggles faced by individuals and businesses (even experts in their field)

Posters have left these threads because the constant gaslighting by leavers like yourself is just unbearable.

We are real people, with real lives. We aren't some homogeneous "borg" hive mind, much as you like to imply we are...

I don't respond to you usually because, well, this ^ attitude that you are somehow owed our contributions.

You aren't.

You won.

Get over it.
