Good lord, this isn't year 9! 😳

If you want to post...post!

Just don't expect posters - whose lives and the lives of those they love - that have been badly affected by brexshit - to agree with or respect your views.

Your "alternative pov" is just denying that brexshit has caused (and continues to cause) real suffering without one tangible benefit so far, despite posters making clear the struggles faced by individuals and businesses (even experts in their field)

Posters have left these threads because the constant gaslighting by leavers like yourself is just unbearable.

We are real people, with real lives. We aren't some homogeneous "borg" hive mind, much as you like to imply we are...

I don't respond to you usually because, well, this ^ attitude that you are somehow owed our contributions.

You aren't.

You won.

Get over it.

If it isn't, then why start an alernative thread when mine was already there?? That's really petty on your part.

To top that off, now you are denying I'm a real person and that I have a life as well? Jesus. I don't expect posters to agree with me or even respect my views, some interesting questions might be good from time to time but I guess that's too much to hope for from you and your mates. All the best.

@ChiswickFlo - I recognise you from the very early threads, even though you've name changed. The stalwart work you do with the food bank is something that I admire. You, unlike many, have gone out to try to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate.

Unfortunately, the government has not done the same Sad Brexit is but a small part of where they have made our lives more difficult.

The reduced growth being experienced in England, compared to NI (which is benefitting from the Protocol Shock contrary to the whines of the DUP Confused) is just one example of the damage being done Sad

Yeah I'm an old hand 🙂

Thank you to you too! 💜

Sigh....
If people want to post on your thread they will.

'Rules Brittania' doesn't feel like the most welcoming thread to me

HannibalHeyes · 03/06/2022 22:57

I almost can't believe the paucity of questions I get asked on here, were the balance the other way round I'd be asking soo many more....

Frankly, I can't (well, actually, knowing Brexshitteers, I can) believe the paucity of answer you and your ilk give. It really does show a lack of joined up thinking.

"global britain is looking rather insignificant..." is hardly a neutral title and most unwelcoming to someone of my POV yet I found the strength to contribute somehow 😊

You might not LIKE the way I think but I assure you it's very consistent and I answer every question put to me (that I see)

Peregrina · 03/06/2022 23:47

You started yours after mine. I've been on this board longer than you have I'm pretty sure. You HAVE to know that is a cheap shot?!

I suspect that you both started the threads at virtually the same time hence the duplication. Should we have a referendum on which thread we want to post on?

Peregrina · 03/06/2022 23:57

People usually post to wind me up on here tbh and I take it all with good grace and offer an alternative POV where I can. I almost can't believe the paucity of questions I get asked on here, were the balance the other way round I'd be asking soo many more....

I don't think they do. But as the successor to Westministenders, we were mostly Remainers, and despite asking Leavers we don't really get any proper answers.

You have given us answers today - you think it's fine to scrap a rule which would have allowed me to drive a 7.5 ton truck. Thankfully I never risked it yet I would like to think that I am a safe and sensible driver. This requires knowing ones limits though and I wasn't ever prepared to risk an accident possibly killing someone because I was driving a vehicle I couldn't properly control.

DrBlackbird · 04/06/2022 00:01

This thread is not full… why the jump to a new thread? I’m happy to continue this one until it’s done as per usual.

So Boris was booed today at the St Paul’s service? That’s interesting. He wants to ‘move on’ but doesn’t seem his electorate feels the SME.

Peregrina · 04/06/2022 00:41

I will carry on here too until it's almost full. A supermarket boss has spoken out about the stupidity of wanting to go back to Imperial measurements.

Also, I have a half memory that the so-called 'Metric Martyrs' of 20 years ago weren't prosecuted because they were selling goods in Imperial units, but that they were giving short measure. I have just realised how late it is, otherwise I would stop and look it up.

borntobequiet · 04/06/2022 08:28

As I’ve mentioned before, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last 8 years teaching people how to convert between Imperial and metric measures. No one under 45 (and many over that age) has the faintest clue about Imperial and they are puzzled that we even bother. They may well know their height in feet and inches and their weight in stones, but just to recite, no more. They don’t know, for example that there are 12 inches in a foot (say “why not 10”?). I’ve pointed out that some Brexiters would like to bring back Imperial - this was inevitably greeted with horror.
I quite like the Imperial system for its historical and cultural associations, and to illustrate how ad hoc measurements became standardised. But it’s a relic, and not now fit for any practical purposes.

ChiswickFlo · 04/06/2022 08:50

Rather like brexshit and the tory govt

But there is going to be a consultation on bringing back Imperial measures - which will be another group of people wasting time and money, when there are a million and one things which need to be fixed and would be worth consulting on.

We are now 18 months into Brexit and after huge disruption to my business I can finally get a real picture, in financial terms, of just what a bad move Brexit it has been for my company and every other importer.

Louise voted for Brexit and despite the obvious diisaster of it, she has to keep believing in it. It's like a kind of sunk cost fallacy.

You make it sound Harriet like I don't genuinely believe in it but I say I do out of as you put it "sunk cost fallacy". If you wish to think that, that's entirely up to you, but trust me when I say that I actually do believe Brexit is the best course for Britain.

"I actually do believe Brexit is the best course for Britain."

But how is it the best course for Britain when all evidence shows otherwise ?

Jason118 · 04/06/2022 10:24

It's always belief, never real. A cult.

DuncinToffee · 04/06/2022 10:25

Louise, did you vote for this hard Brexit?

HarrietPierce · 04/06/2022 10:39

There were 17.4 million different verions of Brexit in people's heads.
