and less than what we were promised

How do you know? Have you read all 2000 pages of the document?

Backbee · 24/12/2020 15:40

Has the deal been published ?

No, although it seems a lot of MNers have seen it.

Whiskyinajar · 24/12/2020 15:40

Am so relieved. My biggest fear was a no deal Brexit.

I'm a Remainer so wanted to see a deal to ensure there wasn't chaos.

Well done to the negotiating team.

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 24/12/2020 15:40

They'll be whipped to approve the deal. They've seen what happens to MPs who defy the Whip re Brexit rebellion, so let's see how many ERG-ers are going to vote against.

Orf1abc · 24/12/2020 15:41

We didn’t need the uncertainty to go on any longer.

There is still a great deal of uncertainty for businesses, especially for those providing services. It's fine for us looking on from home, but the people in operations still have a ton of work to do, in less than a week (and ongoing).

willsantausesantatize · 24/12/2020 15:42

@Orf1abc

It's certainly better than no deal. Johnson's rhetoric towards the EU has changed vastly, "culturally, emotionally, historically attached".

The people who are unhappy are the no dealers, and the "what about our fish" types. Certain social media groups are absolutely frothing at this, although they don't seem sure what they've lost... or won... or voted for.

Can't please everyone can you ? The Conservatives that wanted no deal won't let it drop , probably. He may be quite chipper today , but I smell trouble ahead.
Viviennemary · 24/12/2020 15:42

Boo. I bet it's a rubbish one.

Orf1abc · 24/12/2020 15:43

How do you know? Have you read all 2000 pages of the document?

We've not got control of our fish!

SantasBritchesSpelleas · 24/12/2020 15:44

Thank goodness!

Idiot

Marmite27 · 24/12/2020 15:44

I may have told my dad to fuck off over his comment ‘they’re trying to steal our fish’ last night.

He’s the only brexiteer in our family WhatsApp.

Orf1abc · 24/12/2020 15:45

Labour will vote the deal through even if some Conservatives vote against it or abstain. They'll vote it through because they can't chance no deal.

Backbee · 24/12/2020 15:46

Idiot

Yes I have, really intelligent discussion with you there, sounds about right.

We've not got control of our fish!

Who fucking cares about the bloody fish? It was daft to hang so much on so little of our GDP (0.12%).

Interesting that he's said it's not a 'cakeism' agreement. So shows there have been compromises somewhere. The detail will be interesting.

FestiveChristmasLights · 24/12/2020 15:49

I would have preferred to start the new year in the EU but am pleased with this.

Yes, your comment was the height of 12-year-old intelligent debate!

It is absolutely right that the Opposition votes in the best interests of the country rather than trying to score political points. Anyone who doesn't agree is probably so financially secure as to not being scared shitless of no deal and its effect on the poorest people in this nation.

Sounds pants TBH

Erasmus replaced by worldwide scheme? I like the sound of it

sashagabadon · 24/12/2020 15:59

“ Turin” programme for U.K. students to replace Erasmus sounds interesting. More worldwide than just Eu.

HannibalHayes · 24/12/2020 15:59

I'll believe it when I see it.

Suspect it's just yet more hot air.

sashagabadon · 24/12/2020 15:59

Great minds Marsha Grin
