Farage won’t ever shu5 up. He’ll move onto something else, like shouting abuse at refugees on the Dover coast or his anti-mask campaign.

Also anyone instructing people to ‘move on’ can fuck right off. It’s a completely insensitive reaction to people’s sense of loss at the damage done, not to mention a pretty unpleasantly I democratic form of dilencing.

akerman · 25/12/2020 11:53

undemocratic

bellinisurge · 25/12/2020 12:11

The concept of Leavers not moaning and whinging is a funny picture to take us all into 2021.

As is telling me my opinion of previous governments and how I've felt about the UK since the 70s - don't dish it out if you can't deal with getting it back.

I've seen very little of this from leavers tbh. These threads seem to get taken over by the remainers doing just that. The leavers rarely post on MN. They post elsewhere. Where they don't get shouted down by the mob. I can't blame them tbh, they won the vote, they don't need to hang around to argue about it.

akerman · 25/12/2020 12:34

I haven’t told you how you feel lifetooshort, so don’t see why I should take it

The post where someone does suggest this is in response to the extremely old, ignorant response that anyone unhappy can go and live in the EU. And it does seem odd to hear people saying how awful it’s been in the EU for forty years and making no effort to move themselves, if that is how they have felt.

baroqueandblue · 25/12/2020 15:24

they won the vote

That phrase reflects the mindset of those gleeful voters who've just set the country back by decades. Watch and see. The impact on your fellow countrypeople, especially those least able to defend themselves, will be economic and social hell.

Well done. What time is the cup coming home?

inquietant · 25/12/2020 15:50

Agree with @baroqueandblue, they won the the vote - and that vote has lost the country both wealth and power. Brexit was always a very bad idea.

Kaliorphic · 25/12/2020 15:53

Well done. What time is the cup coming home?

Well done. For what? Are you congratulating me for winning the vote?

LadyWithLapdog · 25/12/2020 16:02

“Well done” contains some sarcasm. You’re welcome.

A rare moment of self-parody I assume?

I voted remain. But really this proves the point. The aggression comes from the remainers. Over and over. I've let it go. Because it's done. That's it. And I'm going to remain hopeful for the future. One thing's for sure, I'm not going to spend my time moaning about what was the majority vote. For my own mental health and well being. I would think it would be a good thing for others to do the same. But either way, I'm not interested in the sniping and bitterness. So I'll leave those who wish to participate in that to get on with it. Enjoy.

Thismustbelove · 25/12/2020 16:19

don't overlook a minority wanting reunification and going on until they get it.

A very very very small minority. The same minority (on both sides) who caused so much hatred and resulted in so many deaths. The GFA stopped the bombing and nobody on

Thismustbelove · 25/12/2020 16:22

... the island wants a return to pre GFA days so please stop with the idea that they will get what they want. What they want is to blow up the British Gov and the Irish Dail with it. Should they continue until this happens too? Unless you live in Ireland you have NO idea how people feel about this ‘minority’!

bellinisurge · 25/12/2020 16:33

"I've seen very little of this from leavers tbh. These threads seem to get taken over by the remainers doing just that."
Lucky you. I guess you see what you want to see

Kaliorphic · 25/12/2020 16:44

Not sure it's luck. Just an observation. Must be hard living in a state of perpetual rage. Glad I don't have to.

bellinisurge · 25/12/2020 16:48

I didn't see any of you jumping on the Arms lot who called me a rat that needed cleaning out with bleach after I had made several efforts to find common ground.
So, yeah, my view of Brexiteers on here is rather coloured by that revolting behaviour that got threads pulled by MNHQ.

Mistigri · 25/12/2020 16:57

Bellini more than anyone attempted to find common ground to the point of somewhat annoying her natural allies on here.

Personally I dont think there is any point in attempting to have a sensible conversation with fundamentally unserious people, but props to Bellini for trying.

Kaliorphic · 25/12/2020 17:10

Never saw it.

akerman · 25/12/2020 17:10

I wouldn’t worry, bellini. It’s too silly to look at one post and to say this proves a point about all Remainers.

As I was told to fuck off and die for being an unpatriotic bitch when I suggested pretty mildly that Brexit was a bad idea, I think there is probably fault on both sides. It would have been nice if Leavers could have enjoyed their victory enough to be gracious to those who are very hurt by this.

Bathroom12345 · 25/12/2020 17:31

To the Remainers some of which are still claiming to be fighting to get back in...

Honestly life is just too short. There was a vote. The side with the most amount of votes was going to win. The winner was the leave side.

And for those who say they are going to campaign to go back in made me lol. It’s done. Let’s just all join together and fight the worst thing our country has ever seen in a generation. We are out of the EU. Let’s move on.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 25/12/2020 17:38

I'll fight Covid where I can but Brexiteers are on their own fixing the shit they've created.

akerman · 25/12/2020 17:49

I don’t really know what it means to come together and fight the worst thing we’ve seen. I am going to buy British where I can, as the nation needs it and it’s better 3nvironmrntally. I don’t actively wish Brexiters any harm, but I can’t set aside what they stand for. But hell, yes, if we can find a political party that would espouse Rejoin and keep bringing us back closer and closer, I’d leap at it. It’s the best thing for the country, even if it doesn’t happen for years. Brexit is only just beginning. Every single bloody thing will be negotiated and renegotiated. Why wouldn’t we hope for closer alignment and eventual rejoining.

Defenbaker · 25/12/2020 18:00

What a depressing thread this has become. It began with people expressing relief that a deal had been done, but quickly descended into the normal pattern of other Brexit threads, where nobody can express any positive or hopeful opinions about Brexit or the deal, without being accused of stupidity/nationalism/destroying the country etc etc. There are such vile hateful responses on this thread, you have to wonder how some of these people get on in the real world, when someone dares to disagree with their opinion.

I'm sure the deal isn't perfect, but neither was being in the EU. There will be losers and winners in the coming months and years, but anyone who feels they can see exactly how this will pan out is kidding themselves. I'm pleased that a deal has been done, and feel hope for the future. I won't be told that my opinion is not valid just because I refuse to act like leaving the EU is the greatest tragedy ever known to mankind.

Bathroom12345 · 25/12/2020 18:06

Defen. You said it much better than I did. I meant fighting Covid. Sorry, I don’t think that was clear.

I suspect in the future other countries might think about leaving as well. But that isn’t a fact. I don’t really know. Some people seem to think they know exactly what is going to happen and exactly why we are all deluded if we voted Leave.
