Are there any Brexiters left?

... on here, or more or less anywhere on SM? The last entry on 'Leave Means Leave' is months old. Though I understand most sites are 'member only', now....

I am really quite surprised how they more or less evaporated on MN! They appear to be gone!

Why?

Was I an idiot to respond to so many, like, off the top of my head, mummmytime? Were they a bot??

The Arms collapsed. The victors are, well... gone!

Why is that?

Anyone who knows me will know I am a Remainer, but I patiently read, often 500 threads!- pros and cons, to 'get a handle' on the direction of travel.

However, now absolutely no one, bar Clav, is standing up for Leave.

I find the silence more chilling than the arguing.

@Corcory Well, we did destroy our own herring industry in the 50s and 60s and the Canadians wiped their own cod stocks.... so history isn't really on the side of fishermen being environmentally aware, greedy perhaps.

If boats are illegally fishing in our waters now, what stops them doing the same post january 2021?

KooKooKachu · 03/11/2020 18:44

@frosted232

I voted leave. Never came on the Brexit boards but I can't understand why anyone would from either side now because it's over, time to move on.
Au contraire - it has yet to begin. It's far from over.
DuncinToffee · 03/11/2020 18:46

Its really terrible the division that referendum has caused

Yes indeed

And whilst we are all blaming leavers, remainers, Europe, Corbyn etc, the government keeps lying, breaking laws and being incompetent.

I voted remain but want brexit to be a success because otherwise we will all be fucked Angry

Corcory · 03/11/2020 19:07

jasjas in the 50 and 60s we had little idea about what we were doing to fish stocks and the environment. Re the factory ships i certainly hope we will sort out our patrol vessels and increase them drastically.

Thats not true, scientists warned govt's and the fishing industry what they were doing would result in no fish. Coral reefs around the world are being destroyed right now, Drag fishing is destroying uk seabeds, again locals and govt ignore the dangers.

We could have enforced fishing quota and stopped illegal fishing in the EU. Brexit will make no difference, why would it?

ListeningQuietly · 03/11/2020 19:22

in the 50 and 60s we had little idea about what we were doing to fish stocks and the environment
the first warnings about over fishing on the Grand Banks were in the 1800s
as people could see the catches getting smaller
but hey
carry on till they collapse

jasjas1973 · 03/11/2020 19:33

That will take years and money, something that is going to be in very short supply.
Of course we could have taken the eu countries that have fished illegally (if they have) to an international court for breaking eu rules.... now if only such a court existed that we recognised.......

Mamamia456 · 05/11/2020 12:50

I voted leave but don't really come on the Brexit threads any more. I have a look every now and again but it's just the same old stuff. Just gets a bit boring after a while.

bellinisurge · 05/11/2020 13:29

Guessing you don't believe in taking responsibility for your actions then

By doing what, exactly? Arguing with people on Mumsnet? Hmm
longwayoff · 05/11/2020 14:47

They're busy with Trump and QAnon just now but Mr Farage has happily returned to us, after describing Trump as ' the bravest man I know 'Hmm. God's teeth! So be patient OP, he'll be doing his best to stir it all up as soon as he's over the jet lag. And he's going to start a new party called 'How much can I take the suckers for this time?'. That's just a working title of course.

ShowingOut · 05/11/2020 14:50

@Peregrina

So the Brexiters have piled in - not to tell us about how great it is, but to complain about being called names. Why, you won?
Have you actually read the OP of this thread? Maybe try that before you criticise us for "piling on" Hmm
Mamamia456 · 05/11/2020 16:11

Bellingsurge - Eh?

bellinisurge · 05/11/2020 16:57

Waiting in vain for someone to admit that maybe it was a dumb fucking idea. But obviously that's pointless. Grin

Well, yes, as we don't think it was "a dumb fucking idea" Confused
Toptotoeunicolour · 05/11/2020 18:08

There's a horrible compulsion in seeing how much anger is still carried by posters who were previously aggressive towards leavers.

bellinisurge · 05/11/2020 18:49

Diddums. Wasn't aggressive before. In fact tried to bridge the gap in the Arms. Then got called a rat that needed cleaning out.

Toptotoeunicolour · 05/11/2020 19:05

Yes you've mentioned that a few times already.

Give it a fucking rest with playing the victim.

Take your own advice?

Miljea · 05/11/2020 22:30

@ShowingOut

I'm a Brexiteer. I firmly believe there will be a Deal.

AMA!

Why do you 'firmly beleeeeve' that? Are you Justin?

You can 'believe' what you want; but your vote set in train a series of events that might yet very much lead to No Deal.

You need to reconcile yourself to that, and to be prepared to own up to your vote.

Which I'm sure you will. 😉

OP posts:
Eng123 · 05/11/2020 22:58

The rich Brexiteers will steel the country blind with their disaster economics and cheap labour, the numpties that voted for it will blame CV and the EU. The evil and the stupid blighting the majority.

ListeningQuietly · 06/11/2020 10:11

Brexit was always a concept
not a production model

it will stay a balsa carving in a design studio
and never make it to the starting grid

AuntyPonsonby · 06/11/2020 20:24

I'm an adult but want fairies to be real and to bring me special magic treasure. I reckon we've both got the same chance of success.

I literally - just did that. On this thread.

The "majority" should have voted, then.
thecatsatonthewall · 06/11/2020 22:41

Boris Johnson couldn't even change the rules at his local golf club without a 75% majority of member votes but Cameron allowed a referendum on the very fabric of the country and our position in the world.
Few if any other national leader would have behaved in such a foolish manner and all to appease the ERG and to help secure a GE.

Brexit will lead to the break up of the UK, helped along by CV but without Brexit we wouldn't have a populist PM, we might have had a competent PM, able to heal division not increase it.

Cameron's decision has and will continue to have far reaching consequences for decades to come.

I couldn't care less what Brexitiers think, we have left the EU and will not rejoin regardless of any change of heart by the public.
