... on here, or more or less anywhere on SM? The last entry on 'Leave Means Leave' is months old. Though I understand most sites are 'member only', now....

I am really quite surprised how they more or less evaporated on MN! They appear to be gone!

Why?

Was I an idiot to respond to so many, like, off the top of my head, mummmytime? Were they a bot??

The Arms collapsed. The victors are, well... gone!

Why is that?

Anyone who knows me will know I am a Remainer, but I patiently read, often 500 threads!- pros and cons, to 'get a handle' on the direction of travel.

However, now absolutely no one, bar Clav, is standing up for Leave.

I find the silence more chilling than the arguing.

OP posts:
GreyishDays · 01/11/2020 22:21

There’s no need for them to argue any more, because it’s happening (sadly).

Miljea · 01/11/2020 23:21

I guess you're right, there.

In all honesty, I guess I was hoping that there'd be a groundswell of Leavers pointing out the obvious, irrefutable positives as Brexit-clarity grew; as The Talks progressed- but... nothing.

I'd've even gritted my teeth at triumphalism, but no one seems be be feeling triumphant.

Does anyone still believe in it, or don't people care because it's a done (no) deal?

OP posts:
HoneysuckIejasmine · 01/11/2020 23:23

A lot of the leavers I know are busy whistling innocently and frantically trying to pretend they are a remainer.

AuntyPonsonby · 01/11/2020 23:30

39% of people still support brexit:
www.businessinsider.com/brexit-poll-minority-believe-was-right-to-leave-the-eu-2020-9?r=US&IR=T

I suspect that number will take a significant hammering when they start to feel its effects from January Grin

pisspants · 01/11/2020 23:31

the biggest leaver I know on fb is now starting to spout Corona conspiracies HmmConfusedAngry no surprise there

Toontown · 01/11/2020 23:40

Yes! The people that are falling for all the 5G/Bill Gates shite I know all also fell for Brexit. Not all Brexiteers are unable to see when they are being taken for a ride but...

KenDodd · 01/11/2020 23:46

Leave EU are still active on Facebook, loads of posts. They love Trump as well.

Toptotoeunicolour · 02/11/2020 14:26

Why bother wasting time quibbling with remainers when Leave is now a given? You sound disappointed that they are not still visiting this board, but the likeliest explanation is that they've all got better things to do and don't want to deprive you of your support network.

bellinisurge · 02/11/2020 20:08

Faridge has a new grift. I anticipate some of the same turns of phrase (usernames changed) will appear on here.

yellowspanner · 02/11/2020 20:27

I am one of the Brexit posters but I have name changed a while ago.
I stopped coming on these threads because of all of the nasty name calling, bullying and snide remarks. I was called a knuckle dragging racists amongst others.
I notice some of the worst ie bea**ehind and 1tisleC... are no longer posting. But several of the nasty bullies are still here.
Anyway, Brexit is done. We are out. I know we still have the trade deal to complete but if Macron continues to insist that the fish in UK waters are his then we will leave with no deal. I'm OK with that.
The main thing is we are out of the EU.
And Boris has a large majority.
Many of the other Alms contingent are around too.
We love watching you all complain.

KenDodd · 02/11/2020 20:48

@yellowspanner
We love watching you all complain

Why?
I know quite a number of people that Brexit has done real damage to their lives, job losses, having to move businesses, immigration difficulties, etc. Why would Iit make you happy to hear them moan about it?

Miljea · 02/11/2020 21:18

@KenDodd

Leave EU are still active on Facebook, loads of posts. They love Trump as well.

Sorry if loads have stepped in since yesterday- but the last posts I could view on Leave EU FB were months old! Maybe because I'm not a subscriber?

OP posts:
Miljea · 02/11/2020 21:20

yellowspanner why name change?

OP posts:
KenDodd · 02/11/2020 21:26

Just had a look on FB, Leave EU post loads, several posts every day, nearly one million followers. Loads and loads of comments on posts as well. I follow them. I don't know if this link will work.

ANoTail · 02/11/2020 21:27

@yellowspanner
Thank you for responding. If you are happy to have a no deal, how do you envisage that? Do you think that job losses, economic downturn, rise in food prices etcetera are worth it or do you not think they will happen and it's all Project Fear?

KooKooKachu · 02/11/2020 21:32

I asked a similar question OP, and my thread got pulled by MNHQ for being "goady". Pfft, Brexiteers are no fun.

Miljea · 02/11/2020 22:17

My first genuine enquiry as to where the Brexiters on MN had disappeared, recently, was also pulled by MN, as being a TAAT...

It reinforced my increasing suspicion that we were all being lead a merry dance by 'not real' posters.

Were we?

Maybe their sense of victory is so profound they need no longer bother with us Remainers-tho, oddly, they persisted for a good 2 years.

Yet, now, apart from more or less one- they're no longer here. None.

As stated, I'm now clutching at straws. What benefits will Brexit bring? Why is there no one left to guide us through their take on the machinations?

I just don't get it.

Either MN was swamped by bots/ paid content providers ; or the True Believers no longer believe.

Which is it?

OP posts:
KenDodd · 02/11/2020 22:41

Did that link to Leave EU fb page work for you op?

KooKooKachu · 02/11/2020 23:00

Worked for me Ken. I had a chuckle at the heavily discounted merch they are trying to flog Grin

KooKooKachu · 02/11/2020 23:01

This.

Are there any Brexiters left?
KooKooKachu · 02/11/2020 23:02

What did happen to the Brexit Arms? I doubt it closed because of the pandemic.

yellowspanner · 02/11/2020 23:09

I regularly name change. It has nothing to do with Brexit.
I do not believe there will be huge job losses because of Brexit, clearly there will be because of Covid, but sadly, that seems inevitable and world wide.

It is important to me that we are out of the jurisdiction of the ECJ and that we regain our rights to state aid our tec industries. Also our fishing is still important to some coastal communities.
However, I don't intent to debate it all over again.
It's done.
I just wanted to respond, politely as ever, to say we are all still around but not posting on the Brexit threads.
I respect your points of view but I never felt that you gave me the same courtesy. I still read about on the westministends threads how we are all thick and stupid so there is no point in getting involved.
I shall say no more.

TheSultanofPingu · 02/11/2020 23:11

It was replaced by the Politics Arms if I remember rightly KooKoo, but that didn't last too long.

TheSultanofPingu · 02/11/2020 23:12

Time will tell yellowspanner.

Dawnlassie · 02/11/2020 23:17

Its done and dusted. Why would they still be talking about it after they won?
