... on here, or more or less anywhere on SM? The last entry on 'Leave Means Leave' is months old. Though I understand most sites are 'member only', now....

I am really quite surprised how they more or less evaporated on MN! They appear to be gone!

Why?

Was I an idiot to respond to so many, like, off the top of my head, mummmytime? Were they a bot??

The Arms collapsed. The victors are, well... gone!

Why is that?

Anyone who knows me will know I am a Remainer, but I patiently read, often 500 threads!- pros and cons, to 'get a handle' on the direction of travel.

However, now absolutely no one, bar Clav, is standing up for Leave.

I find the silence more chilling than the arguing.

Magnificently missing @Clavinova's point there Grin

The Times article is wrong about a Biden landslide, and wrong about the Senate. So, she asks, why should we trust the rest of the article?

ShowingOut · 07/11/2020 18:57

Cross-posted with you there @Clavinova!

Peregrina · 07/11/2020 18:58

I was merely pointing out that in a Leaver's world, 52% was "overwhelming" - so by the same token, Biden's win must be seen as a landslide.

In terms of electoral college votes, Bidens win is going to be huge and he has won the popular vote too, something Johnsons mate failed to do.

Biden/Harris will change the course of UK politics and our relationship with the EU for the good, Bojo is going to have to change his tune.

UK is a small country and outside of the EU, loses even more influence, its why Putin & Trump supported Brexit.

Peregrina · 07/11/2020 20:17

Johnson is most certainly going to have to do his homework on the N Irish situation - something he hasn't bothered to do so far.

HannahStern · 07/11/2020 20:41

Johnson is a lazy sod and isn't bothered with homework or any other work for that matter.

The sooner Johnson departs, the better.

Unfortunately, its the whole cabinet, all lazy, all opportunists and chosen not because of any expertise or competence but there due to their stance on Brexit.
Caeruleanblue · 07/11/2020 21:22

It's hilarious. I don't go on these threads as I am constantly TOLD why I voted a certain way, how easily mislead I was, how I believed all the lies told by the Gov etc etc etc - I have my own mind and ability to decision make thanks, why would I waste my time being lectured - oh, and I'm a racist too apparently Confused

KenDodd · 07/11/2020 21:48

So glad about Biden/Harris!
Leave EU are gutted on Facebook, loads of posts of fraud and Trump being vindicated in the courts. Plenty of racism from their followers as well about a 'black in the Whitehouse'.

Fucking depressing.
I can't stand their racism but follow them anyway because I don't want to live in an echo chamber and I want a rounded view of the country.

Clavinova · 07/11/2020 22:28

Leave EU are gutted on Facebook

I don't follow them myself but I've just looked at their twitter account and noticed this from yesterday - pinned/top tweet;

Carole Cadwalladr -
"On 22 Oct 2020, I tweeted that Arron had been found to have broken the law. I accept he has not. I regret making this false statement, which I have deleted. I undertake not to repeat it. I apologise to Arron for the upset and distress caused."

Good lies and falsehoods should be called out not amplified in the way Leave EU usually amplify lies.

I wouldn't know - you follow them, not me. Grin

KenDodd · 07/11/2020 22:47

Yes well that's why I do know about their lies and racism. As I said, fucking depressing. But, ho hum, they won.

Just a little reminder for any lingering Leavers on here who, I know, are just so bored of the whole thing.
The President Elect of the United States will happily give you a deal as long as you don't fuck with the Good Friday Agreement.

ClaireP20 · 08/11/2020 09:00

I'm a Brexit supporter, my family are both Brexiters and Remainers, we don't talk about it anymore because it's happening, so what's to talk about? X

weepingwillow22 · 08/11/2020 09:11

@Toptotoeunicolour

Brexit pales into insignificance compared to the economic disaster that Covid has caused. I'm surprised anyone really gives a shit about Brexit anymore! This, totally.
The economic damage caused by a no deal Brexit or even a partial deal is going to be far in excess of that caused by covid. The timescale is longer and the effects are less visable in the short term. Covid is used as a convenient cover up to divert attention. ukandeu.ac.uk/the-uk-economy-brexit-vs-covid-19/
Are there any Brexiters left?
bellinisurge · 08/11/2020 09:18

"so what's to talk about?"
Faridge Garage? We've left but there is some boring grown up stuff like whether we get a deal. Not a great deal because we had that and lost it , but any deal.
And ... er... remember when Leavers got all hoity toity about Obama saying Brexit will put us at the back of the queue for a trade deal with the US? And you hoped Trump would save you. How's that working out? 🤣

Clavinova · 08/11/2020 11:11

Johnson is most certainly going to have to do his homework on the N Irish situation - something he hasn't bothered to do so far.

He visited Northern Ireland in January and August this year;

"13 August - Boris Johnson to meet Micheál Martin and Arlene Foster on visit to North;"

bellinisurge · 08/11/2020 11:28

@Clavinova , that is some impressive barrel scraping there. 😂😂😂😂
If he actually knew anything about NI he wouldn't have tried to fuck with the NI protocol which he signed.

MellowBird85 · 08/11/2020 11:33

And ... er... remember when Leavers got all hoity toity about Obama saying Brexit will put us at the back of the queue for a trade deal with the US? And you hoped Trump would save you. How's that working out? 🤣

This type of sneery post is exactly why Leavers won’t engage. MN is really not the place for balanced debate on Brexit.

bellinisurge · 08/11/2020 11:34

I tried to engage on here. I'm now at the "fuck 'em" stage.
Own your shit.

MellowBird85 · 08/11/2020 11:40

Fuck who exactly? Leavers? You really ought to try and let go of that bitterness, it’s been 4 years. You’re going to make yourself ill.

Clavinova · 08/11/2020 11:45

Brexit pales into insignificance compared to the economic disaster that Covid has caused.

Yes, that's exactly what Simon Wolfson (CEO of Next) stated on Question Time a few days ago. He said Next have been ready for Brexit for a year now.

weepingwillow22

The author in your link uses GDP projections from the Bank of England from 2020 for his Covid-19 calculations and Brexit analysis from November 2018 which doesn't seem a fair comparison.

bellinisurge · 08/11/2020 11:48

MellowBird85 the bitterness appeared when the Arms clientele rejected my attempts at reconciliation with full on nasty shit.
So yes, fuck em.
