Remainers will be responsible for a no deal Brexit

When Brexit happened, it seemed a shame and a mistake. As the deadline looms without any deal or consensus, however, it seems pretty clear to me that a no deal outcome will be at least partly the fault of those Remainers who have sought to catastrophise/sabotage any negotiations from the outset - in the vain hope of forcing a second vote. The latter was (IMO) never on the cards and Remainers have completely overplayed their hands, making their own worst nightmares come true. Where some level of conciliation/compromise might have led to a better & closer deal with Europe, instead we are left with a stalemate and looming no deal.

I’m not British, btw, these are my observations as an outsider.

making their own worst nightmares come true

What are these nightmares you speak of ? Sounds suspiciously remainerery ?. As Mummy et al will tell you, there will be no such thing as nightmare scenarios, no-deal is going to be just fine and dandy, no downsides whatsoever, anyone who speaks of such things is simply talking down the country and spouting Project fear nonsense.

frumpety · 14/02/2019 20:25

Is this a reverse Grin

I just don't get you lot...

Remainers went out and voted to stop us going...
Leavers are selfish as we voted to leave..
But the ones who did nothing bare no responsibility for not voting , no blame what so ever..

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/02/2019 20:30

I just don't get you lot.

Quite obviously

Not everyone who voted remain thinks the same way...ive said a couple of times now who i blame

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/02/2019 20:31

And nice use of wording there

Remainers voted

Leavers are selfish

Hmm
Mookatron · 14/02/2019 20:33

The point is, it doesn't matter who's to blame does it. A no deal Brexit is still preventable. Who voted what all this months ago seems pointless now. Looks like we are going to let a bunch of rebellious public school prefects decide what happens to us in the name of 'democracy'.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 14/02/2019 20:34

Looks like we are going to let a bunch of rebellious public school prefects decide what happens to us in the name of 'democracy

They are exactly who i blame

frumpety · 14/02/2019 20:35

Why bother playing the blame game Mummy , you are going to get what you voted for if we leave with no-deal, you will be over the moon and chuffed to bits in that scenario, that's what you voted for.
It was as we are frequently remined one of the biggest voting turnouts ever, some people didn't vote, possibly apathy, possibly a whole myriad of reasons meaning they couldn't, but those who voted for no-deal won Smile

ContinuityError · 14/02/2019 20:40

Of course. Silly me. It’s the 63% of the electorate that didn’t vote Leave to blame.

mummmy2017 · 14/02/2019 20:43

Yes, and the status quo has been broken.
Things will change now, because finally they have.
Finally instead of saying we can't due to the EU.... It will be the govenment who have to step up...
Hopefully a new kind of politics will arrive .

SoftSheen · 14/02/2019 20:45

Nope.

Responsibility for Brexit lies with David Cameron and anyone who voted Leave.

Responsibility for No Deal Brexit (if it happens) lies with Theresa May, her MPs and the MPs of the opposition.

Redwinestillfine · 14/02/2019 20:45

Of course not! If we leave with no deal it's because it was left on the table and the deal was not palatable to any group. It's not remainders or leavers at fault. The whole situation is awful. It's so much more complicated than that. Whether we leave with or without a deal this sadly may take decades to heal . Many under 40's grew up European and feel European just as much as they do British. Whilst obviously the country needs to come together that's a hard thing to switch off.

Calloway · 14/02/2019 20:46

Finally instead of saying we can't due to the EU....

for example?

TalkinPeece · 14/02/2019 20:47

DFUQ ?

Feelingfullandreadytoclean · 14/02/2019 21:19

I just feel so let down by the people who "run" this country.

They tell us to pay our taxes, stick to their laws, abide by their rules and regulations. They decide how our children should be educated, even when a large percentage of those children struggle in the current education system. We do as we are told, hand over our money... And for what?

So they can shit on us and turn us against eachother. Thanks private toffs. Thanks a fucking lot.

We can all sit here and argue and blame eachother but at the end of the day we are individuals who get handed over to the state from birth, do right by those in power by sticking to their rules and run along to put a cross in a box that they asked us to do. We vote because we are told it's the right thing to do. Women died so we could vote.

Look where it has put us

They used their power against us by spewing out lies and statistics and utter bollocks. Behind the scenes they were thinking that we would never vote to leave so they didn't even bother making an exit plan.

And here we all are, left to fight it out amongst ourselves. Bitching and hating eachother.

I feel let down.

Maybe I am naive and maybe I am just stupid and not intelligent enough for politics but I do know that this is a shit storm and we are supposed to carry on trusting them and letting them decide the future of our country.

It just makes me feel sad. I don't even know how to fight the system when I am so low down in the pecking order.

jasjas1973 · 14/02/2019 21:40

the status quo has been broken
Things will change now, because finally they have

Why? why have things got to change.... when we leave, you will have zero say in what happens next.

The same type of people will be in charge and Lab or Con will win the next XX elections.

Nothing special will change (other than get poorer) we are leaving the EU not cutting the heads of the monarchy and burning down 'Buck house.... i feel for you though because soon you will realise you've been had.

SalrycLuxx · 14/02/2019 21:47

Finally instead of saying we can't due to the EU.... It will be the govenment who have to step up...

Nope. The government will continue to blame the EU for everything until at least 2040. Same way the Tories are still blaming labour for the failure of the Tories to properly manage the finances, even though it’s I’ve a whole economic cycle now since Labour had any power.

The only thing that will happen now, is that rich people get richer, and everyone else gets poorer (because even leaving under ‘the deal’ will hit our GDP)

lljkk · 14/02/2019 21:56

I've just sub'd to Led By Donkeys on twitter. Sigh.

hmm! not had this problem b4, images not appearing first time...

FixTheBone · 14/02/2019 22:11

Totally the fault of the people voting to leave, and the politicians that lied to persuade them.

I'm sorry that everything we predicted seem to be coming to pass. I personally warned my friends and colleagues that they'll end up in a situation where it's all going to shit, and that there will be nobody able to help them.

Even if we wanted to, I'm not sure we could at this stage, from the second the vote passed with a marginal majority, there could never be an agreeable way forward.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/02/2019 22:22

Finally instead of saying we can't due to the EU.... It will be the govenment who have to step up...

Yep a new kind of politics where the government find someone who isn’t the EU to blame. Which isn’t really new at all.

You do have to have completely lost all sense of reality too look at the current crop of politicians and think these are the people who are going to step up and take responsibility for their actions.

Slatterna · 14/02/2019 22:36

Hahaha, I've heard it all now. Blaming remainers for the shitshow.
