Only 1 rule.
No c&p posts a mile long, they’re just boring & no one reads them.
Keep it short, sweet, & to the point.

Ah, I wasn’t sure whether this would be surfers pub or BAL’s

Same difference though! 😂

Either way- Brexit is not looking good is it?

surferjet · 07/09/2018 13:46

@surferjet - not sure what Labour's foot shooting has to do with Brexit. Unless we're talking about the collective foot shooting that Brexit is.

Talkstotrees · 07/09/2018 13:56

Good afternoon regulars. brew

( I was never BAL but never mind )

Hi everyone Wine

Bearbehind · 07/09/2018 18:45

Exciting times, not long now!

To long for what?

Crashing out without a deal

Or

BINO

Neither are 'exciting'

lljkk · 07/09/2018 18:50

There's a countdown account on Twitter... great place for both sides to snipe at each other.

Doubletrouble99 · 07/09/2018 19:19

So folks it's Friday night and I've poured myself a G and T what's everyone else having?

surferjet · 07/09/2018 19:32

Im doing weight watchers

bellinisurge · 07/09/2018 20:47

Hope we're entirely self sufficient for Smirnoff. Otherwise you might need to get some extra bottles in.

Doubletrouble99 · 07/09/2018 21:28

Well I'm trying to decide if I might have another G and T.

Did anyone read Boris's piece in the paper last Monday? He said that all this moaning about traffic jams of Lorries at the borders is a load of S...T.
The EU only check 4% of the non EU goods coming into the EU so it's hardly going to make much impact when we are out is it!!

1tisILeClerc · 07/09/2018 21:32

Enjoy your G+T.
When the UK leaves it will be 100% of vehicles checked.

10degreestostarboard · 07/09/2018 21:38

Thanks for the thread surferjet

I see the usual suspects have already turned up

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 07/09/2018 21:42

I see the usual suspects have already turned up

Shock i took it as an invite

Oops

bellinisurge · 07/09/2018 21:53

Probably not checked because they were manufactured with contracts that accord with EU approved standards and are produced in third party countries who have trade agreements with the EU that we are still a member of. So they'll have the appropriate paperwork to verify the goods.
Once we leave we have to make new trade agreements with non-EU countries. And the contracts under which those goods were imported are worth Jack shit.
Cheers.

Doubletrouble99 · 07/09/2018 23:09

Of all the goods coming into the EU from everywhere all over the world, the EU do not check 96% of them because they have been checked before hand and this will apply to us too why on earth wouldn't it.

Jason118 · 08/09/2018 00:01

Because we don't have any agreements in place, obv.Smile I'll have a Guinness pleaseSmile

bellinisurge · 08/09/2018 07:27

@Doubletrouble99 - are you happy with goods that don't conform to an internationally recognised agreement coming into our country. Happy to buy toys for your kids that don't have CE marking? Happy to eat chlorinated meat?
And happy for other countries to impose tariffs on our goods even if we swing the doors open for their stuff.
Until we make deals post Brexit (and we can't till we leave) this is how it goes.

Talkstotrees · 08/09/2018 08:03

Ah! Boris said. That’s a relief.

Peregrina · 08/09/2018 08:28

Happy to risk formula milk from China for a baby?

Doubletrouble99 · 08/09/2018 10:19

What on earth are you lot talking about! The EU import goods from all over the world now, we import goods from all over the world now. At the moment we only physically check 4 % of them at the border. It will be the same when we are no longer an EU country. It has nothing to do with the standards of goods. Why should they fall if we are continuing to do exactly the same as we do now?
Fact check it if you like. The BBC did on their lunch time political programme and it is correct.
