Only 1 rule.
No c&p posts a mile long, they’re just boring & no one reads them.
Keep it short, sweet, & to the point.

Peace & Love ❤️🇬🇧❤️

We're absolutely fucked!

frumpety · 18/09/2018 06:56

We don't have to be though Cactus, we could revoke article 50.

bellinisurge · 18/09/2018 07:22

Revoking article 50 and kicking it into the long grass is our best hope.
Just made some sloe gin, in case that doesn't happen Grin

frumpety · 18/09/2018 07:37

Starting my plum gin today Smile

No not really, we’d be drowning in remainers smugness for eternity - think I’d rather fall off a cliff.

Looking at smugness or watching the country get shafted? I know which to choose.

lonelyplanetmum · 18/09/2018 08:03

I know the sun is not yet over the yard arm and it's to early for a gin but ...

66.57 million peoples futures are in the hands of 1450 people

What always astonishes me is with 66 million to choose from the best we can produce are right honourable members like Gove. Are people like that really the pick of the bunch? The calibre of many politicians is so shockingly low.

frumpety · 18/09/2018 08:05

drowning in remainer smugness

That's what it boils down to for you ? Destroy the country and but win an argument ?

1tisILeClerc · 18/09/2018 08:32

"any Brexit deal won't be as good" as the current, smooth trading process.
This is what the Leavers have signed up to.
The quote is from the head of the IMF, so rather more of an expert than most.
I hope the Leavers can stay smug as they wait in line at the soup kitchens.

Buteo · 18/09/2018 08:36

I like Vince Cable’s description of leaving the EU as Brexiteers’ “erotic spasm”. Seems very apt for completely spunking the future of the country.

surferjet · 18/09/2018 08:37

Yes.
I’d rather have years of hell than listen to you lot celebrating your ‘win’ over the thick idiots.

OP posts:
bellinisurge · 18/09/2018 08:43

So if your partner was literally driving you and your family in the car off a cliff, and you had warned them not to do something insane like....driving you off a cliff ....they would be right to keep driving off that cliff because at least the "I told you so" would stop.
Listen, I am entirely prepared to admit I was wrong and endure BeLeaver smugness if it all goes brilliantly. I am happy for my kids and grandkids to say "you were on the wrong side of history, Mum/Granny". If that's the price to pay for stability and prosperity, bring it on.

This decision will affect the uk and its peoples for decades.....one way or another! and if it happens i truly hope you are right and we do prosper outside.
I love my country and want it to do well, i'd never be so petty as to wish it harm to win an argument.

But i suspect you re not being serious!

bellinisurge · 18/09/2018 08:55

Bloody hope op isn't serious.
First cuppa of the day - sun not over the yard arm.

Peregrina · 18/09/2018 08:59

I read about someone nearly driving off a cliff in yesterday's paper. He was blindly following his SatNav, which was wrong. Even though the road he was driving on got narrower and narrower and ended in a track with a fence by the cliff edge.

PCPlumsTruncheon · 18/09/2018 09:08

surfer so you would prefer everyone’s children to be royally shafted rather than listen to a bit of smugness?
I don’t believe you actually mean that but, if you do, there are no words for people like you.

1tisILeClerc · 18/09/2018 09:08

The only people that are going to do well from Brexit are literally a handful of MPs (basically the ERG group) and maybe a thousand or so 'disaster capitalists'.
As Surfer says, s(he) wants many years of hell. Your wish is your government's command.

prettybird · 18/09/2018 09:17

The less nice part of me is starting to want the full force of all the worst predictions to hit the UK after Brexit Sad because it's the only way to finally lance the boil shut up the UKIPers and those who insist that like would be "better" Hmm outside the EU. Let them experience the reality of the 21st Century globalised world Sad - and then accept that what is left of the UK will need to spend 20 years pleading to rejoin the EU. The devastation caused will help bring about Scottish independence Smile so that is a positive for me so as it rejoins as an independent sovereign country, it will be a constant reminder to the English of what could have been Hmm

However, because I am a nice person, I actually can't being myself to actively want that as those that will be the most affected will be the poorest and most vulnerable Sad; the disaster capitalists picking over the carcass of FUKD won't give a stuff about them and will cheerfully make their fortunes out of the demise of the NHS and the bonfire of the regulations Sad

bellinisurge · 18/09/2018 09:21

@prettybird - you and me both.

surferjet · 18/09/2018 09:32

I don’t believe we will be ‘royally shafted’ - it’s all project fear.
We’ll be fine.

OP posts:
Peregrina · 18/09/2018 09:33

I can't see how anyone can think we will be fine with the bunch of incompetents we have in Government presently.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/09/2018 09:38

Prettybird

Spot on. Any sort of deal leaves everybody unhappy. No deal makes Brexiteers own their shit. They can argue that this was not the brexit they voted for but they can quickly be reminded that there was no mention on any sort of deal on the ballot paper.

They can blame the EU but by this point the EU won't be listening and leavers will be shouting in an empty room. As somebody else put it the UK will be a blank space on a map of europe.

surferjet · 18/09/2018 09:40

Just think about it.
Why would anyone in the EU say ‘The UK will be just fine after brexit, in fact, they’ll probably be better off!’ - why would they say that? lol
They don’t want brexit to work, because if it does all the other rich countries will want out. The poorer countries rely on EU handouts so most of them are happy being looked after.
We can look after ourselves.
For ( supposedly) intelligent people you are so easy to manipulate.

How will things get better when the country will be poorer and public services are being cut to the bone? How?

bellinisurge · 18/09/2018 09:47

@surferjet - I don't give a shit what other EU members say - apart from Ireland: pretty worried about Ireland.
I don't need Barnier to tell me this is going to be an economic disaster.
Enjoy the empty supermarket shelves. You can wave your blue passport at them. Works like magic. Flyover from a spitfire will make the moment special too.
