These Threads are officially 1 year old today.

I don't know who started the very first thread, but it was about how Cameron quitting had handed the Boris a poison chalice because he had to be the one to trigger a50 as Cameron walked away without having done it.

Of course Boris didn't become PM, and we found out that triggering a50 and Brexit were even more complex than even the majority of the most informed thought it would be.

A year on we have a minority government, a zombie prime minister, a government who don't really know what the concept of democracy, millions of EU citizens (who include British nationals) who face an uncertain future, the fear of the cliff edge, a huge scandal over inequality and Jeremy Corbyn appearing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury within the hour.

So having had a very sharp decrease in application form EU nurses and have less people actually wanting to train as nurses (thanks to the governemnet removing the subsidies and asking them to pay for the privilege), they are now trying to see if taking in applicants with poorer English could be OK...

I was glued to these threads this time last year in a haze of horror and anxiety after the referendum. I'm not sure what I would've predicted for one year's time if you'd asked me back then, but it wouldn't have been this. Anyone care to make a prediction for where we'll find ourselves in another 12 months?

I remember the first thread well, it centred around a long and interesting comment in the Guardian.

Sad to hear about MPs email servers being compromised and v hopeful unscrupulous hackers are not seeking information relating to e.g. illicit Brexit campaign funding etc. with a view to spewing it all over the interwebs...

Last year I put something on Facebook with two glasses of fizz ready on the terrace and a comment about what a bloody awful day it had been and the only thing left was to drink wine. Today FB put it up just to remind me.

I keep hearing about May the remainer, but I'm afraid I simply do not believe May was ever a true remainer. She made a speech or two because she felt, like most of us, that it would put her on the winning side. Over the years she has repeatedly spoken against the EU, immigration and the European courts. In fact as home secretary she was very much part of the racist, anti-immigrant hate spewers that made brexit happen. Her war on human rights is very much part of the same narrative. May the remainer is as mythological as the infamous brexit unicorns.

I didn't get around to posting it yesterday (and maybe shouldn't be posting it today ), but for some reason, in the brief moment between sleeping and waking (is it hypnogogic or hypnopompic ?) I was convinced I had read that David Davies had resigned, citing lack of support from Theresa May as the reason.

Not a claim for woo (I don't do that), but an interesting subconscious reading of recent events ?
