Brexit

To think this could mean the end of brexit?

Now MPs will be able to block it. Could this be the end of this ridiculous brexit? MPs can not vote for something that they think will not be in peoples interest and its very clear the people that voted to brexit would be the ones worse off.

JO'B is doing a fab job on LBC today and most brexiters seem to be happy that it might not go ahead as they were fooled by lies!

MPs will vote according to their constituents' wishes, that's true.

But constituents' wishes can and do and will change – they are already, with some polls showing another vote would result in a win for Remain; Marmite-gate and other food-price worries etc.

MPs will have to listen if their constituents start to tell them they're seeing the real effects of the aftermath of the Leave vote and they don't like it.

Interesting times ahead.

What is LBC and who is JO'B?

It's great news.

Hopefully the MPS will vote to block Brexit and we can return to some sort of sanity.

We are not having our democratic rights over turned by the High Court ruling - quite the opposite.

Even more hopefully they'll be an early election and the Tories will be out.

There is no decent opposition party though catgirl

Perhaps the MPs will vote the same way as the electorate, and deliver a meagre 37% vote to leave.

YY.
I too hope they vote in exactly the same %

Leave: 37%
Remain: 35%
Abstain: 28%

Job done, Brexit given parliamentary thumbs-up in line with the referendum result.

Yeah. That is a slight issue Hawaii :(

Do you think we could cobble one together in the next few months?

I think I'd be an awesome PM and I couldn't be much worse than the current shower we've got on all sides

I'm not sure which way the MPs will vote, but I'd bet my house on the Lords blocking it. No way will Brexit make it through there.

"Do you want sausages or eggs for Dinner?"

"Sausages"

"Wrong answer!"

Regardless of what the topic is, everyone should be raising their eyebrows that it's what they decide, not us!! Whilst letting us believe we have a say and a choice to decide!!

Forget the topic, look Past your noses please.

Why are they appealing? A decision has been taken. Why can't they just get over it and move on?!

So what's the point of voting any more, if they are going to go against what the people have voted.. Why do a group of white upperclass men get to make the decisions. If that's the case we might aswell just let them br completely in charge with no opposition

Whilst this time I would like the vote to be over turned, you don't get to pick and choose when we are a democracy.

This ruling has strengthened the fact we are a democracy, not weakened it.

It means that the government cannot just enact whatever it likes - it has to go through proper democratic process. I think this is a good thing.

Brexit will happen or should happen because that is what the result was.

I just want to get on with it so we as a country know where we stand and can plan for our future. Everything at the moment is just so uncertain and thats not great.

It would be a disgrace to democracy should they although I don't for a second believe it will be ended.

It's a tired arguement but I can't imagine this same whinging coming from people who voted leave should remain have won.

What is frustrating (even as a remain voter) is that this will probably delay things for ANOTHER year... then something else may delay it again...

It's like being in a constant state of limbo, either drop Brexit and deal with the fallout inside the UK or just leave already.

Tbf, as a leaver I'm quite happy with the outcome - parliament is bigger than one person and it's right that processes should be properly applied.
I think appealing is a churlish waste of time & money.

They should table a debate & vote immediately: abide by ref outcome & trigger article 50? Yes/No.

The lords have said they won't block, and parliament should respect the outcome of the ref and vote accordingly.

That way, due process has been followed and we can just get on with things.

"Do you want sausages or egg for dinner?"

Eldest dc : "Sausages"
Youngest dc: "Eggs"

"Sorry but dc1 is marginally larger and dc2 failed to answer and even though eggs are likely better for you, sausages it is"

2 hours later

"These cutted up sausages taste weird"

"I don't like them. They smell funny"

"They're slightly out of date liver sausages, stop moaning and eat them"

"I feel sick" x 3

I agree Strifae64

Will there now be an appeal. I hope not just get MP's to vote

I guess it could result in a general election which would I believe allow the tories to gain a large majority
