Boris outmaneovered. Et tu Gove & Corbyn? The Westministenders Hunger Games Continues

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 12:08

Following the Machiavellian Govian shambles? Utterly gobsmacked at the Labour clusterfuck?

Who will strike next?

Who will the shadowy hand of Osborne back?
Can Gove be launched back into space and back to the planet he came from?
Can May save the country from almost certain doom?
Will Leadsom patronise us all to death (whilst silently stabbing people in the back with a sweet smile)?
Can Johnson make a decision he can stick to, and can we persuade him to give up being a politician?
Will Steven Crabb get rid of that god awful beard?

Will Corbyn shoot himself in the other foot?
Will Angela Eagle get a spine and just stand?
Who the fuck is Owen Smith?
Will the Blairites be foiled and damned?
Are momentum a bunch of thugs or a force for a better, for the people?

Will Farage disappear back under his rock?
Will people wake up to Arron Banks?
What will Dominic Cummings destroy next?

Have we seen a coup d'état?
How do we improve democracy and representation?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

I thought the biggest London Remain areas were Richmond and Kensington and Chelsea? Ironic that Jeremy and Diane secured resounding Remains and Margaret Hodge, Alan Johnson and Yvette Cooper got Leave. Angela may be looking at deselection but JC and DA look pretty in touch with their constituents.

Chalalala · 01/07/2016 14:24

I think you're both half right Nauticant and MrsLupo, it was the conjunction of both these factors

The Tories would not have been able to scapegoat the EU for everything if there hadn't already been deep-seated discomfort in the country about the EU and Britain's place in it. It was reinforced by the tabloid narrative, but not wholly created by it.

howabout · 01/07/2016 14:27

My Burnley correspondent voted Remain because the local BNP / UKIP overtures absolutely sicken. However he is not at all wedded to the whole EU project for its own sake.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 01/07/2016 14:30

I've been trying to keep up reading the previous threads when I've been able. They do move fast, but I've been fascinated.

A verified Twitter account for the campaign, with six tweets as I type
twitter.com/Gove2016

I wouldn't fancy running that.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:32

Found you all Grin

Chalalala · 01/07/2016 14:32

they must have looked long and hard to find his Twitter profile pic. He looks almost human.

nauticant · 01/07/2016 14:34

I think that's right Chalalala. It was not inevitable that the UK as a whole never felt comfortable with the EU but by the time the Referendum had come along the fact that there was profound deep-seated antipathy was undeniable. It was there ready to be exploited.

As I said on the other thread, one of the few pluses I see in this mess is that "because EU" should be an excuse that's harder to make in the future. (That said, we're going to have at least 5 years of the Leave side complaining bitterly about the EU getting in the way of our national journey to the sunlit uplands.)

Game of Thrones fans - who has Michael Gove become

Ben Wallace ✔ @BWallaceMP @SamCoatesTimes he is actually Theon Greyjoy or will be by the time I am finished with him

Hehe.

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 14:36

Has anyone noticed in just how many photos, Gove looks like he's just shat in his nappy and has been taken by surprise by it?

OP posts:
TheBathroomSink · 01/07/2016 14:37

He looks almost human. The faintest of faint praise!

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 14:39

Chalala, I don't watch Game of Thrones, but the idea of prolonged torture, castration and being disowned by family sound appealing.

OP posts:
MitzyLeFrouf · 01/07/2016 14:41

I like the description of Gove as 'someone who's perpetually on the brink of puberty'.

MitzyLeFrouf · 01/07/2016 14:42

'he is actually Theon Greyjoy or will be by the time I am finished with him'

Crumbs. Doesn't get stronger than that really!

Chalalala · 01/07/2016 14:44

Red I don't watch it either, but apparently it's embedded deep in the public psyche, because I actually knew what he was referring to. Gove would make a great snivelling villain, too.

I do find it amazing that a Tory MP wrote this - they're not even trying to be passive aggressive about it, the knives are out in the open.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:45

Ben Wallace ✔ @BWallaceMP
@SamCoatesTimes he is actually Theon Greyjoy or will be by the time I am finished with him

I bloody love this Grin

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:49

See this relay to Wallaces tweet:

@BWallaceMP @SamCoatesTimes Doesn't have much use for his dick from what I read in his wife's Daily Mail columns.

Ouch......

(To none GOT fans - from the Guardian - Theon Greyjoy was raised by a great house, the Starks, but betrayed his adopted family for personal gain and overthrows their ancestral home. He is eventually crushed, undergoes prolonged torture, castrated, and ends up derided even by his birth family.)

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 14:49

Question:
Do you think Gove might get 'Ed Balls-ed' at the next election?

OP posts:
Felascloak · 01/07/2016 14:51

Where is Farage? He's been suspiciously g quiet since his outburst the other day. And if we do Brexit, is that the end of UKIP?!!

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:52

If he doesn't win or do well, then yes.

howabout · 01/07/2016 14:52

See that is why the Tories are so difficult for Labour to beat. They don't do passive aggressive and make a virtue of having a bloodbath party. I for one have no patience with the current vogue for "virtue signalling".

The PLP can't even find someone to put in the opposite corner and all the likely candidates keep popping up on TV snivelling and apologising and calling on JC to "Do the Right Thing" in a PA manner. If they got the point of Spike Lee's masterpiece they might realise he already is doing.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:55

Farage is probably passed out in a bar somewhere, still pissed after his "victory speech" in Brussels.

Hopefully in a scummy dive bar toilet, next to the urinal where splash back is a regular occurrence.

EatsShitAndLeaves · 01/07/2016 14:56

I read somewhere that whilst the Tories are exercising their PHD in ruthlessness, Labour are still at Key Stage 1 Grin

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 14:57

Where is Farage? He's been suspiciously quiet since his outburst the other day

Since his dethroning as the politician most people want to punch yesterday, I suspect he is merely plotting his next move to reclaim the title from Gove.

That man does not do quiet. He likes the attention and cult status too much.

Place marking. Sane & lovely people in a mad, bad world, the lot of you. Thanks for the thread Red.

TheBathroomSink · 01/07/2016 15:04

Aha! Banks backing Leadsom might mean he's after Nige being on the exit team? That'd give him limitless publicity and the opportunity to piss off people on a painfully regular basis.
