Boris outmaneovered. Et tu Gove & Corbyn? The Westministenders Hunger Games Continues

Following the Machiavellian Govian shambles? Utterly gobsmacked at the Labour clusterfuck?

Who will strike next?

Who will the shadowy hand of Osborne back?
Can Gove be launched back into space and back to the planet he came from?
Can May save the country from almost certain doom?
Will Leadsom patronise us all to death (whilst silently stabbing people in the back with a sweet smile)?
Can Johnson make a decision he can stick to, and can we persuade him to give up being a politician?
Will Steven Crabb get rid of that god awful beard?

Will Corbyn shoot himself in the other foot?
Will Angela Eagle get a spine and just stand?
Who the fuck is Owen Smith?
Will the Blairites be foiled and damned?
Are momentum a bunch of thugs or a force for a better, for the people?

Will Farage disappear back under his rock?
Will people wake up to Arron Banks?
What will Dominic Cummings destroy next?

Have we seen a coup d'état?
How do we improve democracy and representation?

All these questions and more.
Sense of humour compulsory. No experience necessary though

Mail on Farage was linked to on my FB this morning but looking is actually an old article from 2014. Apologies for giving the impression they are turning on him.

DoinItFine · 01/07/2016 15:57

We must also be clear that even £100m per week would fill less than a quarter of the funding shortfall created by the current government.

Surely there can be nobody left in the UK who didn't spot that problem with his lie pledge?

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 16:01

... does that mean the Mail are turning on Farage?

Arron Banks wants a new rebranded political party.
Banks is backing Leadsom for a Gove shakeup.

Meanwhile the Mail and Times seem to be backing the 'status quo' safe hands of May and have stabbed Gove in the back. It seems an odd move tbh. Why haven't they gone for the Leave Candidate over Gove? Why the candidate who seems least in the pocket of the newspapers?

Unless maybe Dacre and Murdoch think Gove has gone too far.
He's got Brexit which they wanted, but they don't want to shake things up further as that doesn't suit their agenda. He's served his purpose. Instead they are afraid of too much political stirring - and see Banks and Gove as a threat to that.

Just a theory.

(Farage will be treated accordingly by all parties by how he behaves and who he is of benefit to).

I thought it was particularly indicative of the honourable thoughtful man Gove do clearly is, that he staged his manifesto launch at exactly the same time as the Somme commemorations.

Well done Mike!

On the plus side, my MP has declared for TM. If TM gets a majority now will she be declared leader so we never have to hear from toad boy again?

InShockReally · 01/07/2016 16:04

Hmm. I think things are in a state of "suspension" more than "calm". Every potential leader has said they won't push the button just yet which will help.

... But I don't feel like things are quite back to normal yet, whatever normal is. (I'd love to be proven wrong on that though in the next few weeks!)

Murdoch must just be loving all this. The more chaotic things are and the longer this goes on, the more people desperately seek news and updates. Journalists must be having a field day.

howabout · 01/07/2016 16:07

Red "I wonder. Is Gove managing to do that trick of uniting the Scottish, by uniting the Tories together to do everything to screw him?"

In true Braveheart fashion he is throwing himself on his sword to save the Union while all around shout Freedom.

nauticant · 01/07/2016 16:08

Markets seem calmer.

Austerity is finally over.

It's important to get some perspective on the timescale. It's like someone has dropped a bomb on your house. It crashes through the roof, goes through a bedroom, and ends up in the middle of the living room. At the moment we're looking at the damage and thinking "you know, it could have been worse". The next thing to happen is that the high explosive contained in the bomb is detonated.

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 16:08

I'm unnerved by the seeming normality of today.

No. Its not a normal day.

There are a lot of MPs at Somme services today.
I expect the weekend to be fairly quiet. Maybe some Tory Leadership plans (but no more manifestos) and it will be busy again Monday/Tuesday as we enter Round 1 of Tory Kill or Be Killed Party.

Apparently the House of Commons timetable has been cut back next week due to Chilcot to allow plenty of time for discussion over that. I suspect there will be 'leaks' all over the place between now and Wed on that one.

Just a break in the storm, before it clouds over again.

The problem with hope is, you want to believe that maybe, just maybe, this is the time he really means it and IS telling the truth.

OP posts:
DoinItFine · 01/07/2016 16:13

Good point about the Somme.

That's probably aclot to do with it.

The next thing to happen is that the high explosive contained in the bomb is detonated.

Or maybe it's faulty and the bomb never goes off and the bomb disposal squad come and take it away.

But not until Christmas. So you have to get used to it sitting there, possibly about to explode, for months.

And as time goes on, you get start to get used to it. And actually, it's quite handy, you can use it as a table.

And then

the high explosive contained in the bomb is detonated.

DoinItFine · 01/07/2016 16:15

Even if he was telling the truth, it's just not even close to enough money.

It's a promise to continue to destroy the NHS.

But maybe a tiny bit more slowly than originally planned.

UptownFunk00 · 01/07/2016 16:16

We certainly aren't the envy of the rest of the world.

They are all at loggerheads at the moment.

Problem is no matter what, the fallout will be epic.

RedToothBrush · 01/07/2016 16:17

Who is the bomb disposal squad?

Do you want the slightly erratic unpredictable guy who punched his mate last week or the one with the safe hands?

Just saying like.

Is Bruce Willis not available?

Grin Red.

They can discuss Chilcot as much as they like but as long as they keep throwing enough Brexit mud at each other next week they have their fingers crossed that no-one will notice. As usual JC can be as effectively critical as he likes but no-one will report or support him. Now I understand. We had to leave the EU so that no-one would notice when we gave ourselves a good telling off for completely destabilising the ME over a pack of lies.

thecatfromjapan · 01/07/2016 16:24

Good work, Red. Grin

Thank you Chalala and Nauticant for TwitterCat suggestions. Smile

I'm off to do some parenting and will be back to catch up soon!

nauticant · 01/07/2016 16:24

JC will continue to do his Albert Steptoe impersonation while pulling a face and refusing to budge from his favourite chair.

DoinItFine · 01/07/2016 16:26

I'm not sure who will eventually show up to dispose of this bomb.

But when I called to report it, the man on the other end had a lovely melty voice.

DoinItFine · 01/07/2016 16:27

Um, I think post-Brexit the children are raising themselves.

Right?

I have finally located Owen Smith. He is a Welsh MP so obvs did a much better job of persuading his constituents than Calamity Corbyn and is properly in touch with his grass roots. The French will have to wait for us to jettison the Welsh because they are all set to save the EU.

There is a plan! Have a look at www.thebrexitplan.com

It explains everything you need to know. Also @gove2016 apparently has not been secured by Michael Gove's team.
