To not be able to speak to my near neighbours who voted leave?

My children's future has been put at stake. Our economy risks ruin. Our relatively -well-off neighbours in a place with nearly full employment and very low recent immigration (local care companies and NHS are desperate for staff) have voted leave. They are only around fifty.

I'm gobsmacked.

The irony is that the small business they are in is affected by the growth of China as an economic powerhouse. So why on earth do they feel that leaving the EU gives them more power? It gives them less.

I am so angry and feel so let down by my country. These people, and people like them ahem destroyed my hopes for a continued peace in Europe.

How on earth am I expected to talk to them on an equal footing, knowing what they have done through their own greed?

I think you need to firstly stop drinking the coffee. It's not helping you. Secondly, has anyone 'attacked' you in such as public manner. Thirdly, if you truly feel that this country is good and of value. Then work in it, add value too it, assist in it's development. Show the next generation that tolerance of view is the way forward. This country you are so passionate for is good because of the people in. Let's work positively, Brexit is not just something this country faces. We are just the first to be brave enough to give it ago.

I sympathise OP. I have a relative who is very vocal about out, hates immigration and immigrants, she also seems to be loving this mess and saying we are all just getting what we deserve. I think she voted out because she hates the UK because we've become so multicultural over the last few decades and she wants to punish us. She knew how damaging out would be.
