Help please, Buyer saying they received toilet paper not pram

As above really. I sent a pram via courier sold for £300, but the buyer is telling me they received toilet paper.

Ebay are insisting I accept the return, (and then file an appeal) but I don't see why I should.

Do I have any recourse?

I'm not sure that you do have any recourse.

The buyer didn't receive the item that they'd paid for. They want to return this item to the seller. If they paid for the courier, the seller should also reimburse that cost.

The seller can then take up the problem with the courier company and resell the pram.

Do couriers take weights of parcels like the post office do? Surely toilet paper would weigh much less than a pram if there's any record of the weight?

Find them on social media if you can and see if they upload any photos of baby in the pram for evidence they kept it and lied

Ebay usually are trying to protect the buyer. They might make you accept the return if they decide they can't be sure what was posted. Was the courier arranged by you or the buyer? They won't be protected if it's their courier and it was a collection item. If you arranged the delivery do you have any evidence of what was posted eg photos/ weight/ receipt from courier, it would be worth asking the courier company if they took photos at any point/ weighed the parcel etc too and looking into their claims procedure. I'd go back with as much evidence as you can to prove what was posted and that the buyer is trying it on. I would also phone Ebay and ask for advice, I've spoken to them quite a few times and they can be quite helpful in deciding cases on the phone/ giving you all your options and letting you know where you stand.

Have they sent you a photo of your parcel with your label on it showing the contents as being toilet paper?

Ask the buyer what courier they used and for a photo of the receipt with the item number and get in touch with the courier company. They would be able to tell you the weight of the parcel etc.

I'm sure people do buy toilet paper off eBay, but I suspect that mix-up is down to the courier in this case.

Somebody, somewhere is probably upset that they have a pram instead of the toilet paper they ordered. They may have contacted the courier to complain.

Ask the buyer for the picture of your parcel they recieved.

If you have pics of the parcel you sent send these to eBay.

Who sorted the courier? If you then surely you’d have the weight of the parcel on the courier slip?

does your contract with the courier include insurance for the value of the item? either the courier can prove they delivered the pram, or if they can't prove it was delivered you can claim on the insurance and the courier company pays.

Mix up with the courier or a scam.

Get the buyer to send photographs of what they received, including the packaging.

To answer the questions.

I arranged the courier and boxed up and addressed the parcel myself. I put the value as £250 and it was bought for £280 + £20 for postage.

My husband took it to the parcel shop on Monday

It arrived with the buyer yesterday.

The buyer is saying that they received toilet rolls wrapped up in black bags with my packing label attached to the outside.

They say the courier bought it into the kitchen for them so they didn't realise it was tissues until after the courier left.

My pram was in a box with a black bag wrapped around the outside and weighed 13kg because I checked the weight before I sent it.

Get photos from the buyer of the packet and the contents and the label.

Was the parcel insured with the courier company?

If it's been lost in the post you might be able to claim, if it's a scam eBay mostly backs the buyer up.

Have you looked at the buyers feedback history etc? Do they have good feedback?

Did the parcel shop weigh the package? That would be crucial to prove that what you posted is not what was delivered.

You need to contact the courier company OP and ask for their documentation about this parcel. It would have likely been weighed at each tracking point.

If you do think you've been scammed, call Ebay and explain this. Ask them to contact the buyer for photos of parcel they received, the address label etc.

Send them proof that the item weighed 13kg when it was posted.

Where was the return address - I assume on the bag? Where do the buyers say that it was?
