Help please, Buyer saying they received toilet paper not pram

As above really. I sent a pram via courier sold for £300, but the buyer is telling me they received toilet paper.

Ebay are insisting I accept the return, (and then file an appeal) but I don't see why I should.

Do I have any recourse?

@dressingfortv So basically someone stole it

yes, but this was only possible because of Hermes being a bit crap generally - if they had robust procedures for keeping track of everything and securely getting proof of delivery of three correct item with no charge of swaps and mix ups then this would never happen. their insurance covered it because they are to blame. they will probably continue being crap because it's cheaper not to have robust practices and pay out when it all goes wrong than it would be to run a decent service.

@TalaxuArmiuna oh of course they were at fault. Maybe it was an employee that stole it. My brother worked for them and he said what went on was shocking and quickly quit.

@Hotwaterbottlelove

I just love that you ended up with loo roll and a refund. You are better off than you would have been if all had gone right. I'm a bit sad for the lady who hasn't got the pram or toilet paper.

I'm not sure about being better off....... The buyer has had a full refund of £300 off me and Hermes will be refunding me £280 which was the selling price.

Meanwhile, I've spent my time making calls, gathering CCTV footage, emailing Ebay and Hermes. Not to mention half a day driving to the customer to get her to provide the bit of paper I need to get my refund!

The toilet paper has now been donated to the local food bank. I bought it back so that I could hopefully forward it to the correct recipient and get my pram back. No such luck.

Did anyone else think about this thread when they read the news item about the toilet roll theft in Hong Kong?

bottlenose301 · 08/03/2020 23:45

Haha yeah. The toilet paper is probably worth more than the pram at the moment.

yatapina · 08/03/2020 23:57

Bet she's regretting getting rid of that toilet roll now...
