Help please, Buyer saying they received toilet paper not pram

As above really. I sent a pram via courier sold for £300, but the buyer is telling me they received toilet paper.

Ebay are insisting I accept the return, (and then file an appeal) but I don't see why I should.

Do I have any recourse?

Not everyone on Ebay is out to scam. I'm sure she appreciates you going out your wayto sort it. She probably thought you were trying to scam herlike everyone thought she was trying scam you, yet it's the postal service that'sto blame.

Having received an empty box instead of electronics, I’m not surprised. Luckily We had video showing the courier being able to tote the box very easily. You could see how light it was. A thief adding loo roll would have given it some heft. In our case it was a company and we never suspected they sent an empty box. The package was raided en-route. Company sent a new item which arrived without problem.

I bought a pair of Converse shoes. Immaculate in pics.
Tatty, scuffed and threadbare in real life.
Got my money back - and the shoes were returned as the sender didn't even collect from his parcel office.
Lots of abusive texts after I requested my money back.
Said what did I expect for £4!!
Mm I expected the shoes in the advert you absolute tool...
Leave the ebay ing to dh!!

I'm back home now with a bumper pack of toilet roll! Buyer has been refunded and Hermes have all the info to issue a refund to me.

While I was there I gave Hermes details of the correct recipient of the toilet rolls, it was under the shipping label. Now they will contact them to find out if they did in fact get a pram.

If so (within 14 days of the refund deadline) they can return it back to me instead of refunding.

Result. Admire your persistence to resolve the issue. Lesson learnt that we judge too quickly and the buyer was innocent all along.

Whynosnowyet · 30/01/2020 15:00

Wow go you Miss Marple!!

moobar · 30/01/2020 15:23

Well done op.

My question is if they find the buggy are you going to sell it to her again? Grinnow that you both know each other is not at fault.

coconuttelegraph · 30/01/2020 15:51

Great result, well done you Smile

Slightly OT but I'm intrigued about how old the lady was, why would someone with a child young enough to need a pram describe themself as an older lady?

Angelika321 · 30/01/2020 16:20

@coconuttelegraph I did wonder the same. She's the same age as me, mid forties and I suppose it's old in terms of us both having toddlers! But I wouldn't say I'm old!

But I'm savvy with using my phone and technology to get things done, having worked in a professional environment probably helps.

I also have a printer at home so things like printing off a form to complete or a return label to attach to a parcel wouldn't phase me but it might for someone who doesn't have access to a printer.

OP - what phone number did you manage to get hold of a Hermes customer services? When I ran recently (many times) I couldn’t get through.

Or did you do it by email?

Be useful to know.

Well done for getting to the bottom of it.

Angelika321 · 30/01/2020 16:47

@TatianaLarina I sent an email to the CEO and had a response from a member of their team which included a direct number.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 30/01/2020 16:52

Well done OP. I do feel bad I thought it was the buyer at fault. I’m sure she thought you were scamming her too.

Question is where is your pram!?

Do you get to keep the loo roll?

BumbleBeee69 · 30/01/2020 17:14

Bloody MARV Flowers

SleepWarrior · 30/01/2020 17:17

Wow, I've just read the whole of this from the start and it's made my blood pressure rise on your behalf! Well done on your detective skills and persistence so far though. Infuriating that all this time has to go into putting it right, whether it's a scam or a cock up on Hermes part.

bobstersmum · 30/01/2020 17:24

I really hope you do get this refund op! I wouldn't rest until the money was back in my account, hermes are so crap I can imagine they'll try to wriggle out but just refunding you the postage cost!

Angelika321 · 07/02/2020 20:40

A quick update to say that Hermes have confirmed I will be getting a refund within 5 days!

Whynosnowyet · 07/02/2020 21:03

Woo!!

Hotwaterbottlelove · 07/02/2020 21:24

This thread was a delight to read. A short mystery. But, was the pram ever located?

catnaps1995 · 07/02/2020 21:34

Woooooh!

Angelika321 · 07/02/2020 21:34

Unfortunately the pram was never located, but I have ended up with a load of toilet roll!

Teensruletheroost · 08/02/2020 09:13

Glad to see you’re getting the refund.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/02/2020 10:28

Really pleased for you, OP Flowers

Hotwaterbottlelove · 08/02/2020 12:12

I just love that you ended up with loo roll and a refund. You are better off than you would have been if all had gone right. I'm a bit sad for the lady who hasn't got the pram or toilet paper.

dressingfortv · 08/02/2020 12:56

So basically someone stole it. Angry
