Thanks got my first appointment at the clinic Monday so will get to docs asap after that or mon morning! I'm so excited and also nervous! What do I expect at first appointment? They have assured me iui could start with my cycle in Jan!

Wonky35 · 18/11/2017 17:40

Am glad things are going okay wish. Oddly enough if you get nausea then chances of miscarriage are lower than if you don't and vomiting is lower still! Seems odd to be wanting to vomit.

Hi ttc. You should ask your GP about the bloods but unfortunately they won't always do them as you are not having nhs fertility treatment. Good luck with your first appointment.

KWICK, Ive gone back to ice cold. It’s so gross regardless!

TTC - on whether to buy 3 IUIs at once, I think there’s nothing to lose if you do. I agree about the pressure being less if you know you’ve paid for three.

I don’t have any fertility problems and am 37. We’re having medical help as we are a lesbian couple. So no reason to believe that IUI wouldn’t work, given time. Both times perfect follicle growth, speed as expected, everything by the book. But when two didn’t work we were just keen to get a bigger chance more quickly so switched to IVF. And we’re luckily able to organise the cash.

Don’t know about tests on the NHS, I’m afraid. We did have an NHS referral a year ago and had a load of tests but that was all down to our idiot GP not understanding the CCG rules for NHS treatment for lesbian couples - and as soon as we realised that we weren’t eligible for NHS funding we stopped that route.

Re IVF: this deserves a longer post. Will answer in the morning!

Hi everyone

Thanks for all the stories and for providing a window into your very personal journeys. It is so useful to actually hear from other ladies that are in similar situations to myself. I am a 43 year old women - in a long term relationship. My partner has grown up children from a previous relationship but we have unfortunately never managed to conceive naturally after years of trying.

We were very lucky to have a close friend that offered to donate her eggs to help us realise my dreams of being a mother.

I just did my first pregnancy test following the TWW. After a very anxious and sleepless night .... the test was actually positive!! I did two just to be sure.

Now I am waiting to schedule a scan to see that all is ok. It’s been such a long journey and now we are literally stunned that we are almost there. What a journey...so glad to be here with you ladies ☺️

Mandy002 · 19/11/2017 18:23

Stansam congratulations! I bet you’re thrilled 🎉

Stansam · 19/11/2017 18:27

Thanks Mandy002. I am so thrilled.... I really don’t know what to do with myself at the moment xx

pickle162 · 19/11/2017 19:09

Ah huge congratulations stansam and what a totally wonderful friend you have 💗

Ttc2017 · 19/11/2017 19:13

Congratulations it's lovely to hear success stories!! Bet you are over the moon x

TurtleTree · 19/11/2017 20:13

Hi all, I've been AWOL for a while while I've been taking the pill to sync up with my egg recipient but am now about to start proper treatment. I had the Pipelle and SIS last week and all being well with AF will be having baseline scan and first injections on Wed. Eek! So excited to finally be starting after all the waiting.

Looks like there's been loads happening since I was last here, highs and lows and lots of new names. I'll try and catch up soon but hi everyone!

pickle162 · 19/11/2017 20:30

Hey turtle 🐢 good luck xx

LondonGirl80 · 19/11/2017 23:07

Congrats stansam!

And good luck turtle - lovely to hear that things are moving on for you.

In other news: just ordered our drugs for FET (thought we might as well get it done). 4 boxes each of Progynova and Cyclogest - for just £10 on Lloyd’s Pharmacy online! Just £5 for 4 boxes of Cyclogest - which cost me £80 at a high street pharmacy branch. There are definitely perks to taking a break - including having the time to shop around for cheap drugs!

Bear1980 · 20/11/2017 08:13

Congratulations stansam thats lovely news.

Good luck with FET today kwick

Wish4Future · 20/11/2017 09:14

congrats stansam that's amazing news! And London that price is unbelievable! Our clinic is £22 a box for Cyclogest. Crazy.

Stansam · 20/11/2017 12:00

Thank you ladies. Yes London is extremely pricey but it will all be worth the struggle in the end.

And yes, my friend is an absolute miracle. She is my angel!!! All the poking and prodding and days off work and she has done it all with a huge smile on her face. She is actually more like family but we aren’t blood related.

It’s going to be s very long two weeks to wait for my scan. I’m dying to have s little peek in there to see what’s happening Winkxx

Plumplum33 · 20/11/2017 14:29

This is my second month TTC, last month we inseminated twice, once being two days after positive ovulation test. Waited to test and had a negative pregnancy test and then had my period as normal. This month I have only been able to inseminate once which was last Wednesday. This was two days before predicted ovulation which I think happened on Saturday instead.
Yesterday I was sick twice early hours of the morning as well as having a headache. I spent most of the day sleeping while feeling uncomfortable with sickness/indigestion. This morning I had another headache and now feel sick again.
Kind of hoping these are early signs, or I've just caught a sickness bug.
Fingers crossed for when I test in less than two weeks :) xx

kwick · 20/11/2017 17:42

CONGRATULATIONS stansam!!! StarStarStar

🐢 what is the pipelle and SIS?
Glad things are moving!!

london wow that is a great price! Makes me so pissed off though on a) I spent with CRGH when I did not know I could shop around b) at the astronomical profits some pharamcies are making 🤬🤬🤬🤬
I think Lloyds is even cheaper than Asda!!! How do you get the prescription to them if they are online

🤞🏼plum although I think it may be a little early for morning sickness 😬

So I am PUPO!!! FET went well - IVI Alicante was very swish and luxurious!!! I have had a lazy afternoon - mostly sitting in a sunny spot but now I am back at the hotel I am contemplating a shower and an early night. Back to Blighty tomorrow.
I get to test next Wednesday!!! Best 2WW ever!!!!

Does anyone know if I can buy the injectable meds elsewhere or is it just at the clinic also can any one give advice on choosing a donor there's so many to choose from!

LondonGirl80 · 20/11/2017 19:14

Oh wow kwik! So delighted for you - everything crossed x

Good luck plum!

TTC - get your clinic to give you a private prescription as early as possible, then look at Asda online, Lloyds online etc to compare prices. Buy as normal then send the paper prescription to them freepost. They won’t send drugs out til they have the paper, but then they’ll post or click & collect (which for me was free!). We would have saved £700 on our IVF drugs if we’d done that rather than get them from the clinic...

Bear1980 · 20/11/2017 20:33

Congrats on being pupo kwick and test next Wed thats super quick. I hope you have a relaxed tww 😀

TurtleTree · 20/11/2017 21:11

Yay kwick how exciting! So happy for you that the time has finally arrived, got everything crossed for you.

SIS is where they insert a saline solution up there to get a good view of the lining and see if any potential issues (I'm not too clear on the details, just let them get on with it!). Pipelle is an endometrial scratch which is supposed to help implantation. Not sure how it works when they do it so many weeks before implantation but hey I'll give it a go.

Good luck to you too Plum

London I thought that often the clinic tweak the dosage of meds so it's difficult to order in advance? Or is that just at the stims stage and other parts are more standard?

I'm now stressing as AF hasn't started yet. if it doesn't start tomorrow I'll have to push back my appt and then it throws out the whole treatment plan I've got booked. Too much delay and I'll be too late for treatment before xmas as the clinic have a cut off for EC. Argh!

TTC I made a spreadsheet for the donors with my most important aspects noted down for each. I soon found things that helped me rule out many so in the end the choice wasn't too hard.

Ttc2017 · 20/11/2017 21:43

Thanks so much for the advice n London fingers crossed you get af soon so you can get it done before Christmas!! Still struggling with donors I already have children and they are a mix of everything so most would fit in but also trying to find a similar match so looks wise they will be similar and feel like they fit in if that makes sense

Mandy002 · 21/11/2017 06:36

Fingers crossed plum. Hope you get your BFP.

Kwick glad it went well, I’ll keep everything crossed for you. I bet it’s nice having a bit of sunshine too. Safe flight. 🤞🏻

Plumplum33 · 21/11/2017 07:10
