Wahooo Kwick so pleased it’s your time to try again 😘
Welcome Suzie

ah London, really hope that bfn changes. Did you have ivf or iui? Sorry I can’t remember. Keeping Everything crossed sweetie x

Mandy002 · 14/11/2017 19:32

Kwick so pleased for you...fingers crossed. Can I ask how it works when you are getting ready for FET. I just had a list of drugs sent by my clinic and they said that FET might be in feb depending how I react to the drugs. Which has made me a bit confused about how this works- sorry if that’s confusing

SuzieBergman123 · 15/11/2017 00:37

@kwick Thank you for your kind words and best of luck with your decision. Currently - DE is a no go area with DH. Planning to meet a couple who have had a child this way and learning about their journey. Also good news about your lining scan. Fingers crossed for you.

@Start That's a very good question and I will attempt to answer it with my dangerous little knowledge! Mitochondria is the egg white and the nucleus is the egg yoke. Mitochondrial energy gets depleted with age. Many embryos fail to divide properly - due to the stagnant mitochondrial egg white. If the nucleus is in good shape (big if) then the mitochondrial transfer can help. However, if the nucleus is rotten, this method won't be of any use. I have been told that because there is a history of chromosome abnormality with our embryos, this means that the nucleus is rotten and this method cannot fix the problem. However, because science cannot be 100 per cent accurate - it may increase our chances by 4 per cent. Which is not much. So chances of conception with my own egg at this age, go up from 1 per cent to 5 per cent. Mitochondrial treatment and cytoplasmic transfer (the latter is slightly different from the former) are not available as infertility treatments in the UK. Newcastle Hospital offers MT to people with a history of hereditary diseases which stem from the mitochondria. Cytoplasmic transfer was offered as an infertility treatment in New York in the early 2000's. The FDA banned it - mainly due to pressure from religious pressure groups. If you google it - you will see 30-50 babies (varies, depending on who's telling the story) were born to infertile people with unexplained diagnostic - mainly older people. 3 of these babies, have learning difficulties and developmental issues. The FDA argued the cause was CT. The doctors said - cannot be proven, as it could have been anything - as the rest of the babies, developed normally. Anyhow - it's not available here - but the clinics whose links I shared above, offer CT. It can work, if the egg doesn't have a nucleus problem. And I suppose if one is overall damn lucky! I have also come across another new method which is known as the ovary function rejuvenation. Has anyone heard of it? Typing on the phone - hope it all makes sense...

Bear1980 · 15/11/2017 06:27

Aww london Sorry about your bfn hope it changes. How many days past transfer are you? You had a 5-day transfer right?

Wish4Future · 15/11/2017 07:08

Keeping everything crossed for you that it changes, London

Mandy002 · 15/11/2017 07:32

London hope you have a pleasant surprise in the next couple of days. 🤞

kwick · 15/11/2017 08:03

@LondonGirl80 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 hope you are using a FRER to tesf!!!

Very interesting @SuzieBergman123
I am comfortable with your choice - but we each have our own path.

@Mandy002 every FC does it differently!!! Cos of when my AF came, I had a baseline scan, then started Progynova (for lining) and Cetrotide (to quieten ovary) and tomorrow, a few days before FET, I start progesterone and stay on Progynova until they tell me to stop. I had a completely different protocol at my other FC - but that was with my own eggs.

Flights are now booked - trying to work out if I can get away with leaving my work laptop behind....

StorkAhoy · 15/11/2017 09:46

London, best of luck, lady. i hope it changes for you, if not we are here for you. Xxx

Suzie welcome. Very interesting in terms of your journey and what you are hoping to try next. For me, at 39, 3 rounds of IVF with my own eggs was enough, so Ive moved onto Embryo adoption and I’m having my second FET next week hopefully.

kwick - yay its all happening, cycle buddy!

Bear1980 · 15/11/2017 10:31

kwick thats exciting, all moving for you now.* How ling will you be away for. I would leave your work laptop behind if you can but not if it will stress you out more when you come back.*

stork good that you are almost ready to go again.** Hope you get your bfp this time

kwick · 15/11/2017 17:44

So I will be way for 2 nights - leave mine at 9am sunday - land back just after 13pm on Tuesday.

Only day I can work will be Monday and in the am I will go shopping and in the pm have FET and maybe dial into a work meeting on - MAHOOSIVE YAWN - The EU General Data Protection Regulation...
I think I will not take - I can work off my phone and can get online again Tuesday pm if need be - one less thing to carry.

Yay cycle buddy stork!!!

Kwick good luck- sooo exciting! I’ll have everything crossed for you. I hope you get your bfp. Have a safe flight. X

LondonGirl80 · 15/11/2017 18:33

Tomorrow is OTD. Still no AF. Tested bfn again this morning. Don’t really know what to think. If tomorrow is bfn then will call the clinic & see what they think.

Was IVF, Pickle. My first time after 2 failed IUIs. I’m 11 days post 5 day transfer, bear. And no, kwik, stupidly have no FRERs as abroad & Boots at the airport didn’t have!

Thanks pickle, wish, bear, Mandy, kwik, Stork. Really appreciate the support.

Thankfully we have one in the freezer. Anyone know the FET process? Assume suppress ovulation with Cetrotide & then pop in?

And we would now meet NHS criteria for a funded ivf round if that doesn’t work. Have started referral process today as takes 6 weeks to get a GP appointment where we live.

Keeping chin up & fingers crossed. Thanks ladies xx

LondonGirl80 · 15/11/2017 18:34

PS Stork and Kwik - crossing everything for you both xxx

Frank77 · 15/11/2017 20:18

Hi all, apologies for disappearing I’ve been without WiFi as well as my car but both back now so things are looking up!

london really hope your bfn changes, my otd is near yours - Friday - and I’m weirdly scared to test. It ain’t over until af arrives though. Glad you have the nhs option to come if it’s needed.

Thankyou all so much for your 2ww tips I’ve tried to incorporate some. I’ve mainly been trying to de stress with the car situation etc but it’s like ive been getting stressed about trying not to be stressed, so just tried to give myself a break really.

storkand qwick exciting times & really good luck xx

Munrowalker · 15/11/2017 21:55

Wow kwick that sounds so exciting. Fingers crossed for you. Leave your laptop if you can. It's only a few days anyway. 🤔

TinyPaws · 15/11/2017 22:41

Been out of the loop for a while, oops!

Congrats karen

I'm back from a lovely but rather expensive holiday (oops again) in Canada and trying to get hold of the donor coordinator to talk about donor sperm requirements which is turning out to be quite challenging!

Girlfriend is returning from her deployment on 10th December so have that to look forward to.

Can't believe I started this process 6 months ago! It's taking so long to get started!

TreasureInMyTummy · 16/11/2017 00:58

Hello everyone, today I had my c section under general anaesthetic which went fine.

I have a little boy called Rex and he weighs a whopping 11 pounds and 10 ounces!

Absolutely love him.
Good luck to all those on this thread and I've said it before but I was so grateful for the amazing support and advice from this group - I don't think I've ever been on a more friendly online group before.

I'll still lurk in the shadows to follow your journeys- love to you all xxxx

Bear1980 · 16/11/2017 06:48

Wow treasure he is gorgeous, congratulations. Hope you recover quickly and get home with your little man soon

kwick · 16/11/2017 07:49

london and frank I am keeping my 🤞🏼 for you.
My AF was always delayed due to progesterone supplements - first time I wildly believed all the POAS were wrong...

london my FET protocol is Cetrotide and Progynova, then a few days before FET progesterone (yes ladies it’s official: Cyclogest is back in my life 🤬), then they do the transfer.

treasure WOW!!! You did a baby!!!! He looks lovely and I LOVE the name!!!! Take care & take it easy 😘

I think laptop will stay behind - now need to minimise all other weight! I have paid to check a bag in so I do not have to lift up in plane.

StorkAhoy · 16/11/2017 08:46

Treasure oh my god CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! and my Rex is a strapping and beautiful lad, and I bet your lady bits are thanking you for the c-section! I was 10lbs4 and my mother said that was a tad painful!! Enjoy this time with your little treasure.

kwick you just reminded me about lifting, I was going to carry on. and No sod the laptop but do you have an iPad as I tend to use that when working remotely...?

LondonGirl80 · 16/11/2017 08:49

Today is OTD. Still BFN. So I think I’m out.

Gutted doesn’t cover it.

Will try to sleep for a few more hours then call clinic.

Pez82 · 16/11/2017 09:04

Treasure, huge congratulations!!! So happy for you that your ‘little’ man is now here!
My baby’s weight is estimated at 6,5 pounds so I intend to push her out (she’s already engaged) but 11pounds 10 ounces, that’s a different story!
Hope the 2 of you recover quickly from the birth and can soon go to your cosy home.

London, I’m so sorry. Take the time to digest, treat yourself, and then you have a little embryo waiting in the freezer for when you’re ready. I know how hard this is x

Plumplum33 · 16/11/2017 13:57

Hello, new to this thread.
I'm in my second month TTC. I'm in a lesbian relationship and using a known donor for home insemination.
Only got to see the donor once this month so keeping our fingers crossed.
I'm now in the two week waiting period.
Good luck to everyone!
Xx

Frank77 · 16/11/2017 14:38

Congratulations Treasure he’s really gorgeous!

London I’m so sorry. Try to take of yourself & have some treats x

I’m doing utrogestan pessaries kwik is Cyclogest horrible?

TinyPaws · 16/11/2017 17:48

Oh wow Treasure what a cutie! He is gorgeous!

Sorry to hear London, that sucks.

Welcome Plum, fingers crossed for you!

Still haven't managed to get hold of the donor coordinator lady. She's apparently not back in work until Monday so I will try again then.
