Evening everyone, I’m new here and hope you don’t mind me joining in.
A bit of background ... I’m currently ttc by iui and donor sperm. I’ve just turned 40 & will be a smbc. I’ve had one abandoned cycle (ovulated before trigger) & one full cycle which ended in a BFN unfortunately.

I’m trying again this month but have been told today that i might have to abandon this cycle too. I’m on day 10 and have 5 follicles, (a 14, 12, 11 and two 10s) the clinic will only go ahead with a max of 3. I’m being scanned again in a couple of days in case any ‘drop off’ and I guess my question is whether this is even possible or whether I should just resign myself to this cycle being a bust too?😞

Welcome to the thread frank and good luck with your cycle. You may find that the 2 10s drop off but it’s difficult to know for sure. Are you on a medicated cycle? It’s hard when you are just waiting and things are looking unsure but better for them to cancel than potentially end up with 3 or 4 babies 😯

I hope all goes well at your next scan.

Hi frank. I don't know much about iui I'm afraid but when I was having my IVF cycle there was talk of that being cancelled so I know how massively disappointing it is and what a stressful wait it is. Fingers crossed the smaller 2 don't progress any more.

8 is amazing london plus being able to go to the weddings great. Hoping you get good news today and lots of them have fertilised.

Today's good news is that 5 of the 8 have fertilised! So I'm all booked in for first thing Saturday. Very exciting (only a little bit tempered by ouchy as I remember that my insides took a battering yesterday!). Thanks bear, pickle and wonky.

Frank, I did two rounds of IUI before this IVF cycle, and yes, they warned me that if too many follicles grew they'd abandon. I'm so sorry if this happens to you, especially as it sounds like you've had a few disappointments recently.

Bloody hell! I am not sure how I missed all those posts yesterday - I really thought I was up to date!!!

Some clinics "hoover-up" the excess eggs - but I am taking it yours does not. Cancelling a cycle is a pain in the arse - my first one had to be cancelled as I got the LH surge in transit from Brussels to Malaga and could not get back to London in time... I will keep my fingers crossed for you.
What clinic are you with?

I have heard back from IVI - of the 16 eggs collected, and 8 of which fertilised, 4 have made it to the freezer. They sent through a 4 page report including the details of the 5 day blastocysts that made it to the freezer - 2 are Hatching, one is Expanded and the other Cavitated - absolutely NO idea what all that means!!!!! But this equates to four tries for me - which is amazeballs!!!!

I did have my work mojo this morning but now just want to go home and snuggle up under a duvet and dream....

Yay kwick that sounds great, hopefully you won’t need 4 goes but nice to know you have them anyway.

I’m at Manchester and doing cycles with merional (gonal-f) injections. I don’t think they hoover (ha) up the extras so unless they disappear I think it’s going to be abandoned. Scan tomorrow so will see...

It really is a roller coaster isn’t it? I did the same meds the other months & only had 1 follicle - it’s the lack of control which is hardest I think.

Hi all,
Thankfully 3 of my follicles stopped growing so I had 2 at 18mm today. I’ve had a trigger injection and it will be IUI tomorrow morning 🤞🏻Has anyone got any tips for the 2ww in terms of eating or exercising or generally not going doolally?

My tips are keep busy but also relax and look after yourself. Be kind to yourself and try not to symptom spot.

I've got my viability scan tomorrow. So nervous. Anyone had one?

So I have my baseline scan tomorrow, then if that goes well, another about 10 days later and then I guess I fly out to Spain!!! 🇪🇸

I had my baseline scan today - all good. Starting Cetrotide this pm and Progynova tomorrow. Think potential FET date around 20/11.

Nice to have a bit of momentum on the thread again and hopefully some more successes soon.

So embryo transfer is in the morning. The missus is away so I’m taking my mum, which isn’t really helping with the nerves. Just focusing on getting myself there and then off to the wedding that afternoon.

Hi All, congrats to those who have had success! Good luck for transfers etc everyone else! The thread has moved on so much I've just had a big scan through to try and catch up!
We had our second IUI a few weeks back and had our second BFP. I'm crossing everything for a success this time and praying it's a sticky one, after the MC last time.
I'll try to keep up more now! Xxx
