Glad you found somewhere to get tests stork. I agree, can't believe anywhere still uses fax it must be one of the least secure ways of sending data around.

I am just waiting for follicle scan and bloods on Friday to see how things are going. Hopefully IUI on Monday or Tuesday. Actually hoping for Tuesday because my sister is having scan for her baby on Monday and I would like to go.

kwick · 06/09/2017 18:09

WTF Stork!!!! We just don't do blood well in the UK!!!!

wonky how comes they could only see 1 ovary?

So I had phone consult with IVI yesterday (hope I am not repeating myself) and have appt with Lead Nurse on Friday and straight after a Dummy Embryo Transfer and then it should be full steam ahead!!!!

🤞🏼to everyone - hope we have days and days and days of good news

So kwick are you having treatment here or in Spain? Regardles, its very exciting!! When are you hoping for FET?

ever I've just decided to delay my FET, I was hoping for beginnng of Oct, but will need to be 3 rd week of October now, just couldn't find a week that I could have 5 days off together at the same time at the beginning of oct! That means I'll need to down reg though instead of using my natural cycle.... grrr, but can't be helped.

kwick · 06/09/2017 19:13

stork current plan is all pre-scans in London and embryo transfer in Spain - I will know more on Friday!!!!
Sorry about your change but still really soon!

Ah not far behind me bear fingers crossed for nice big follicles xx

Haha stork to be fair I've never been in an office so I wouldn't know if faxes didn't exist anymore!!! Lol
Glad you've finally found a clinic.

Having a bit of a wobble today and wanting to test early. I'm normally a patient person! Must occupy ones self more!

alliealison89 · 06/09/2017 20:09

Is anyone here doing this to become a single mother by choice? I'm really looking into it.

alliealison89 · 06/09/2017 20:11

I have a really irregular cycle (have since a teen) and I'm worried this will make it impossible?

I have a period for like 3 weeks and then none for about 2-3 months.

kwick · 06/09/2017 20:21

@alliealison89 some of us ladies on here are single - some not. This thread caters for all.
In terms of irregular AF I do not have direct experience- others on here may - but if you either medicated IUI or IVF your cycle will likely be controlled by the drugs they put you on.

alliealison89 · 06/09/2017 20:24

Thank you Smile how much sperm are you supposed to purchase for IUI (I am currently looking at costs) is it 3 lots? I'm very confused about what sperm bank, etc.

I have a consultation at a fertility clinic next week, so maybe they will be able to help with that.

I have 15k put away for this, but am not beginning to wonder if it will cost much more.

kwick · 06/09/2017 20:27

allie it will depend on your FC - but mine always wanted 2 straws, but then only used 1. Your FC may have a list of banks they accept - so do check with them.
What FC are you with?

Wonky35 · 06/09/2017 21:07

Kwick apparently my bowel was in the way. Just hoping it won't happen on egg collection day. What is a dummy embryo transfer and when are you expecting the actual transfer to happen?

Annoying about having to down reg stork especially after you ended up synching.

Hi allie. As kwick said you need to find out which banks your FC will accept. Plus they will probably charge admin costs as well. Mine was from xytex and in addition to the sperm it was ~£300 shipping plus a £750 admin fee to my clinic which I think is outrageous!

Remind me when your OTD is paws.

Paws4thought4 · 06/09/2017 21:12

A week Friday wonky 😳😳

Wonky35 · 06/09/2017 21:35

Step away from the testing strips Paws. It's too early to test.

Paws4thought4 · 06/09/2017 23:50

Lol it's fine I haven't bought any yet don't worry. And shouldn't need to go to shops til next week now so all good x

kwick · 07/09/2017 07:54

wonky a DET is when they trial run the embryo transfer - all the same except no embryo - speculum and catheter up your fanjo, full bladder, scanning, ungainly position.
No idea on actual timings yet - hope to get those on Friday 😬

paws does that mean you will not go into a shop at all until next week? When you do buy tests make sure you are getting FRERs
(Note to self must look into getting shares in FRER company)

StorkAhoy · 07/09/2017 08:20

alliealison8 15k is good though depends on what treatment you are having to be honest. And what medication you will need. An ivy round can cost anywhere from 3-8k, but meds are on top of that and can be anywhere from £200-£3000..... again depends on you as a person. Ive done 3 ivfs and am 18k in so far.....
best thing to do is write down all these questions you have, do some extra research about what other people ask and go armed with a long list.

If you are put on IVF then ask if they have an packages i.e. 2 ivfs for 7k or refund programmes if you got have a live birth - doesn't hurt to ask!

StorkAhoy · 07/09/2017 09:35

Paws4thought4 · 07/09/2017 20:04

Nope won't got to the shop at all now til Monday now kwick away for weekend with family so definitely won't do one then I have been very restrained 😊
What's funny frer please? X

LondonGirl80 · 07/09/2017 20:10

Hi ladies,

Just popping up to say hi - my second IUI is tomorrow. It's come round super quick! Follicles hit 18mm on Wednesday, triggered today. (Had to do it at work, so involved a ridiculous pantomime with a cool bag, very well-labelled "lunch" in the fridge, and a scurry to the ladies on the other side of the building!)

Allie - I would second the recommendation to write down all your questions and make sure you get answers. We bought 5 straws from Xytex in the US, got it shipped over and bought a deal of three IUIs for the price of 2. All in, about £3k for the IUIs, about £4k for the sperm.

PaisleyBE · 07/09/2017 20:34

Hi ladies!!!
I've been awol for some time, but keeping an eye on you form time to time. Congratulations on all your sticky beans and good luck to everyone in or heading into a twot. And welcome newcomers!

Quickly about me - 31, single, living in Belgium, doing IUI in Denmark
So far no luck - 4 cycles and not a faintest line (tbh, I never even make it to the otd, I just get my period right on time 11 days after ovulation).

But onwards and upwards, right? Smile In August, the day after my last IUI, I had a first cosultation at a local fertility clinic to discuss a possibility of some hormonal support or an eventual IVF at some point down the line. The doctor was very nice and understanding, surprisingly he wasn't pushing me towards the IVF (I mean, it IS his daily bread), but suggested the hyfosy test and hormonal levels check on cycle day 20.
The hyfosy is scheduled on Monday 11/9, so I'm trying to get mentally prepared. I've had blood test for hormones - it all seems ok. Both progesterone and oestradiol have correct levels.
I'm not really sure whether hormonal stimulation is really for me. My cycles are regular, ovulation too. Also, it seems that my body produces nices eggs, always one dominant either left or right (they even switch accordingly!); last time I had a nice 23 mm follicle. Also endometrium grows very nicely, usually 11 mm on the day of the iui. And after the last IUI I even managed to have an ultrasound the day after, so the doctor confirmed that the follicle ruptured and egg was released. He also checked the lining and it was nice and ready.
Now I'm wondering what this tube patency test will reveal.
I keep thinking that my problem is timing - that I do the IUI too early. That by the time the egg is released the sperm is either dead or swam away. But it is written everywhere that it is better to do it before the follicle breaks. I don't know, really.

So far I've given myself the limit of 6 IUIs. I'm taking a break in September, so I will continue in October.

So, that's my experience. I have to say that I didn't expect it to be so emotionally draining and heartbreaking. Let's hope that all our heartbreak will be all worth it some day. Flowers

Everhopeful76 · 07/09/2017 21:48

Hi all
Seem to have lost the thread again a bit, but been a busy old week.
I m in process of DE cycle at Serum. Had synched naturally and unexpectedly with my donor the beginning of last week. No down reg required. Started protocol last Tues, and today was my day 10 scan.

So have some good news... my womb lining was 11.7mm today, apparently great for the point in my cycle. As was dominant follicle on left ovary, so looking like I ll ovulate normally and the progesterone will just absorb the egg, so no worries there. My donor has responded well to treatment, is about to trigger and will have EC on Saturday, so my transfer has been booked for 14/9. So a few days earlier than expected. So its all systems go. Fly out on 12th, and am out there for 9 days so can have a holiday too. So excited.

Stork sounds like you ve had fun with finding a willing vampire. Was it Concept you ve gone back to for the bloods? They were cheaper, but hell not that cheap. My GP also refused to cooperate, and Care Northampton would not do if I wasn't going to have any treatment there. I ve still got to have one more blood test at the 11th hour at Serum. Such a shame also that you re having to delay a bit and need down reg but good to not have to wait another full cycle. And faxes who sends them any more for gods sake. It would irritate me too.

Welcome back Paisley. Good luck with the hycosy and glad you are retrying in October. Its a very hard journey.
Good luck London for IUI tomorrow. That has indeed swung round very quickly
Paws how you feeling? Do you have a week till testing, or is it sooner?
Welcome Allie. Hope your consultation goes well next week. Don't know much about how many straws to purchase for IUI, as have no direct experience.

StorkAhoy · 07/09/2017 22:02

ever, I was getting worried about you! So yes Mr Doolally mailed this AM to check on my dates (so refreshing not having to chase anything!) and yep, we are planning transfer for 23rd October, which means a down reg injection on cd21 of September period. But that's fine, it means I can do NYC for work, then the week after have the lining scan and the week after do FET.

Re tests, I'm going back to Babybond in Stony on Monday where I'll be scanned as they do the whole thing for £265.........

Such a brilliant lining honey! I'm so pleased for you! What cycle day are you? Where are you getting scanned after all?

Omg it's getting close. I'm so excited for you!!

StorkAhoy · 07/09/2017 22:10

Just saw you are cd10! Xx

StorkAhoy · 07/09/2017 22:18

ever here's an interesting one, Mr D said to me that scan was day8/9 and transfer 6ish days later! Wonder if its different as its FET?

You may have missed what I said a few days ago, they can arrange acupuncture at the clinic before and after transfer if you like (so say their faqs!)

And do you have a notary plan yet?

I'm chilled, whenever it is, is when it is. I'm booking a full 5days off work and will have three nights in Athens at least I think.

Everhopeful76 · 07/09/2017 22:44

Stork I ve just realised that it was Sunday when I last posted, thought it had only been a couple of days. What a week. I found a flat in Bristol on Monday as well, and moving gradually when I return from Greece. Am a bit concerned that if I do get pregnant I want continuity of care, so I wont change my GP etc until viability scan, and probably not till 12w one, so I will be back and forth a bit. I have various dog boarding bookings (at Mums) which I need to honour so doing it very gradually. Also plus the fact I cant lift and carry in PUPO phase. Nor swim.. although obviously wouldn't be swimming to Bristol anyway... would take a very long time.

The notary is booked for 13/9, as is the blood test for syphilis (joy!) and then the transfer is 13:30 on 14/9
I did see the note you made on acupuncturist - thank you. I will probably just stick with the acupuncturist I see (last trip to her tomorrow). I think they have a masseuse as well that comes to clinic, might consider that.

I'd imagine the FET is slightly quicker because its only one person to get their lining correct. I have been exceptionally lucky as I synched naturally and now we seem to have synched again, in that she has responded quickly, and so too has my lining. With the down reg for mabel cycle, my lining on day 8 was almost 8mm so I guess I don't have lining issues anyway, just shit eggs in general - apart from my ickle pickle baby.

Oh I ended up going to Cherish for the scan, which was in Sutton Coldfield. Lovely lady, very knowledgeable and was singing Penny's praises.

Have had side effects with doxycycline and progynova. Some interesting symptoms... I add in the fanjo candles on Saturday, to stop too much growth and maintain the lining so I don't end up being all womb lining and no womb. Oh and apparently they do transfer by guided imagery from dildocam with catheter attached. No external scanning or just going in blind with speculum and hope for the best. Good to know

So you re going to have a bit of a jet setting October all told. Am glad you feel happy with your plan. What is Mr Doolally's real name again? I did have a bit of a peep at the rogues gallery. None of them looking particularly like rogues I have to say. All systems go
