Paws congrats! So re the wedding. The world is divided into those who feel they want to relax and focus on the embryo and do visualisation and take it easy - and those who just carry on regardless.

Unless something weird happens, you will feel perfectly fine!

Wonky35 · 31/08/2017 13:00

I am an anaesthetist ever but don't do much obstetrics these days as paediatric anaesthesia is my specialty. My special skill is making happy children cry! I also know loads about kids tv so I can chat with kids pre op.

Scan went well. Had 9 visible follicles which was an improvement on my last scan and a nice thin lining so injections to start tonight.

Strangely enough I bumped into someone I work with in my clinic waiting room. So much for not telling anyone at work yet! What are he chances?

Good news about the eggs paws just need them to do their thing and divide beautifully. Not had ET yet obviously but don't see why you couldn't go to the wedding. You won't have sedation or anything and from what I read keeping active, but not going crazy, is good.

Paws4thought4 · 31/08/2017 13:23

Thanks ladies!
Will see how I feel after but sure will be fine, think I'll go stir crazy if I don't leave the house! They suggested no work (with my profession) for at least til pregnancy test which I sort of have allowed for anyways!

Ah wonky interesting job! Can't be easy seekng them upset though!
Not far being me eek.
Wish i was at he clinic watching my incubator lol xx

Snorkmaiden85 · 31/08/2017 22:36

paws, I also think you'll likely be fine for the wedding. After the egg collection, the transfer is the easy bit! I had a bit of a wander round Cardiff shops immediately after, and caught the train back home, and was back to work today all fine. I was told at the clinic that walking around actually helps implantation so it's good to be gently active. I did have a few twinges/cervix cramps after (I think because of the speculum), but nothing even as bad as my usual period pain. Great news on the eggs! Are the clinic going to contact you again on day 3 about the transfer?

pickle hopefully Total Eclipse of the Heart was a sign!! Ever, I forgot about the 'on brand' speculum Grin I did laugh when Total Eclipse came on the radio!!

Paws4thought4 · 01/09/2017 09:44

So I don't really know what to make of today's news really. Ok so of the 4 embryos 2 are doing better than the others. Still not at the stage he would have expected for day 2, but when I got off the phone I realised it hadn't even been 48hrs yet!
He said it can all change tomorrow but if they carry on the way they're going he'll look at putting two back tomorrow to give me the best chance.
He puts them in a grade and 1 of the eggs is a grade 3 out of 4 and the other is a 2/3 hmm.
So has anyone else had a day3 transfer? Trying to be positive but he didn't sound overly pleased on the phone 😞😞

StorkAhoy · 01/09/2017 11:35

paws don't be sad!
Lots of bfps come from three day embryos inscluding my acupuncturists twin girls!

I had 2 three days put back before. In fact many clinics do it, some do it as standard and you have to pay extra to get to 5days!

Three day embabies are totes normal. The embryologist will decide if they think your uterus is a better and more nurturing environment for them to thrive in than the incubator.

So chin up, and go with the flow! Xxx

Paws4thought4 · 01/09/2017 12:46

Thanks -stork! Done a bit of hoovering and cleaning for a lady today to take my mind of it but made myself a bit sore even though I took it easy. So nice relaxing afternoon wth lots of mediation and positive vibes lol.
That's reassured me thank you xx

StorkAhoy · 01/09/2017 18:51

ever, hi, how did you do the bank transfer to Serum, I can't seem to do it online as they don't have a sort code, did you have to go into a bank?!

Everhopeful76 · 01/09/2017 20:49

Hi Stork I haven't done that yet actually (should have). You are right they is no sort code, so yep I d planned to go to bank to sort it, just haven't yet.

What's your timeline for treatment, how early in Oct is your cycle? I cant quite believe I will be in Athens in less than 2 weeks!

Everhopeful76 · 01/09/2017 20:50

Paws I had a 2dt, and still got pregnant. Its very possible. From description your embies are more advanced than what mine were. Good luck, let us know how you go tomorrow x

StorkAhoy · 01/09/2017 22:03

ever thx honey. I'm looking at first week of October if all goes well! Eek! So you'll be finding out, as I'm going over there!

I heard from our Mr doolally, (because that's all I can call him now!) and he thinks he's matched my needs and wants to an embryo pair already! (Though I was very open to any that were blonde, fair and tall!)

Everhopeful76 · 01/09/2017 22:35

Stork I will miss you by 1 week. Am coming home on 21st September. Going out for 9 days!! Shame we re slightly out of sync.
How strange that I got Penny and you had Mr Doolally haha. I ve only spoken to her once but I seem to get a daily email from her.
Am covered in bruises from clexane, and am not nuts on the doxycycline, Ever MUST MUST remember that I need to be taking that with a meal as taking at 10pm makes her feel very sick.
They are so ON this matching process. On the eve of me starting I was in floods of tears thinking there is this kind lady in Greece who is willing to help a stranger realise their dreams. Its really overwhelming.... And there are professionals in this country who cant remotely sign post me effectively for my grief at Mabels loss. Its very telling....

Paws4thought4 · 02/09/2017 10:12

Great thanks ever that does give me hope. They are putting them back today yay, putting two back because they're not of good quality. Though the only worry is that they're not of good quality but remaining postitive!! Anyone any helpful advice for transfer? Pre or post lol. Going in at 12 on a very full bladder eek.
Also they won't be able to freeze any so will have to go through costly process again if want more(and doesn't work)

That is so lovely ever that Greece are helping you out a lot more than our country!

Had a bit of a scare last night(1am) with some hooded shifty guy knocking on mine and my neighbours door and looking through windows. So out of character for our lovely little quiet road! So lack of sleep, so didn't need that to happen last night! Trying to relax now before transfer ahhh xx
Fingers crossed x

Snorkmaiden85 · 02/09/2017 11:53

Best of luck today paws! Hope all goes well. Don't think I have a specific advice, just enjoy the slightly strange but amazing experience! Then you'll be in the crazy waiting period with me... Think the main points for after are no hot baths, no heavy lifting, do keep walking about... I'm trying not to obsess over other advice I've read about what to eat etc, though have been keeping up the protein and lots of fluids. Time has slowed down A LOT.

Wonky35 · 02/09/2017 11:57

Good luck today paws. Sounds like putting them back is the best thing for them. Pez gave some info earlier in this thread about thing to do. Includes warm, easily digested food e.g. soups, no baths, warm feet (no idea why), pineapple and no heavy lifting. Plus lots of positive thinking!

Paws4thought4 · 02/09/2017 15:34

Thanks guys.
All done! Eek they're looking better under the microscope than in the time lapse incubator he said. yay! Given them a grade 2 out of 4 though as a bit fragmented. And haven't divided into cells as much as they should but big fingers crossed now 🤞🤞🤞
snork How long have you got to wait of your TWW?
You were right about the strange but amazing experience! Such a mixture of emotions. Feel like I should feel pregnant lol. Weird. Praying for Thing1 and thing2 to grow!
Having a rest for today then I'll go out tomorrow and buy lots of protein rich food.
Hope you're all well ladies xx

Bear1980 · 02/09/2017 19:25

Aww good looking luck paws hopefully they grow well and you get a bfp in a couple of weeks 😀

I am 3 days into medication and going all in this time, eating lots of yoghurt, organic eggs and drinking whole milk. Have bought pomegranate juice because I have read things about that and fertility. Not doing great for my diet but want to give myself best chance this month. Feeling a little emotional on the mess this time (never felt anything the last couple of times). Not too bad just a bit like pms. Hoping for good lining and follicle size on Friday

StorkAhoy · 02/09/2017 19:48

ever oh we didn't plan that well! :) I'm going for probably 3 nights

I know, the gift these women are giving us is huge. We are so blessed.

Yes, Mr D is a cracker on email too.

So what is this clexane you're talking about? What does it do? And I'm on doxy at the mo post aquascan, so I feel your pain, or should I say the nausea?!

Iand yes they are ON this matching thing: my matching in terms of essentials was height, skin tone, hair colour. The wants were green eyes, pointy chin, university educated, healthy bmi. Because apart for that what else could I ask for?! I didn't want to go too crazy! But yes he felt they could match all the essentials to some snowflakes that are already in the freezer.

So bloody excited for us both on this different journey!

Snorkmaiden85 · 02/09/2017 22:23

paws yay, that's great! Welcome to the wait! I know what you mean about thinking you should feel pregnant, I actually felt more pregnant BEFORE the transfer because of the effects of the drugs and all the bloating!

My 'official' test day is next Sunday (10th sep) but I'm not sure I'm gonna last til then! Got some FRERs and some of the one step strips off the intenet buy will try to resist as long as possible. Finding it harder to get distracted now it's the weekend, been trying to keep myself busy though! Ended up making a lasagne from scratch this eve to pass some time :)

When is your test date? Hope you're feeling okay :)

Everhopeful76 · 02/09/2017 22:34

Stork I was on the doxy after aquascan too (are you taking 2 a day??). I think the ones I have for the cycle are stronger but its ok as long as you take when eating. A bit sicky but nothing too bad
Clexane - only god knows esp for 28 days too minimum!! I took them post c section because of risk of dvt I guess, but cant remember why they are needed, maybe kwick or someone knows?? Likewise not sure why am on a strong painkiller also, haven't questioned any of these drugs, and something struck me the other day, there has been no correspondence to my GP, not that I care about that particularly. I went to see my GP last week and she said, don't you think its too soon to be having treatment again. I replied "No" its the only thing that is keeping me going. Silly sod.
A snowflake baby, that does sound so cute, despite our would be children EDD will be from end of May - beginning of July haha.
I think in the end I d just said I wanted blonde, fair and blue eyes. So my guess is the lady donor will be polish or Ukrainian (to match the colouring) and the sperm donor may or may not be Greek. Am not bothered, but I love this lady who is helping me have this second chance.

have had quite a day of trying to book an air bnb. As am going for so long, I wanted to be comfy. So gone for a really cosy little flat for relaxation. The host also has a rooftop apartment which maybe I ll opt for if I need to go back for FET etc. Am just really hoping it works first time!! Flight costs were starting to hike but they are booked now. Am ready to rock and roll and bring home my Greek baby!!

Wonky35 · 03/09/2017 10:15

What strong painkiller are you taking ever? The clexane can be given for several reasons. It is a blood thinner so often used post c section to prevent DVTs or if you have a blood abnormality meaning you are more likely to clot. Also some evidence on benefits if you have had recurrent miscarriages or failure to implant during IVF cycles. Evidence is a bit mixed but worth trying it.

Everhopeful76 · 03/09/2017 13:21

Hey wonky I forgot that you would be able to answer too :-) its celebrex 200mg, which now I ve looked up says its a non steroidal treatment used for pain and inflammation. This protocol is really going to town on not having me flammatory!! Shall I end up with a stomach ulcer instead??!!

I had clexane after C section, so its not new to me, just looks like I ve been attacked by a boxing glove!!! I havent had an implantation issue - because of carrying a terminal ill baby to almost full term and last IVF didn't get to transfer. Just in the mix as a precaution I think. Probably be advised to have in later stages of pregnancy if I get that far due to BMI!! But as you say evidence is a bit mixed for it altogether.

StorkAhoy · 03/09/2017 13:52

ever I had doxy on ivf3 too, and yep you do need to eat with it!
So the clexane is an injection?(she says hoping she was done with pricking herself!)

Yeah, coz the little snowflakes are on ice before hitting the defrost button!

Eek, it's all happening huh? I'm going to stay at the President Hotel and book John the clinic driver to do my transfers I think. Could you have stayed at the Serum apartment?

I know the wish for it to work first time is nearly overpowering huh.? It's like, come on! I'm using a double donor, doesn't that mean hitting the bullseye first time.. alas not, but I still wish!

TinyPaws · 03/09/2017 14:22

Ooh, good luck paws! When are you testing?

Everhopeful76 · 03/09/2017 14:31

Stork it is indeed an injection, with a blunt needle, hence the bruisey wuseys!! I assume your protocol will be identical because apart from the downreg inj (which didn't have anyway) they use the same plan for anyone first go whether its fresh or frozen.

My lining scan Thurs is also a dominant follicle check and then I think they ll have me on cetrotide is it? whatever drug it is to stop ovulation from occurring, but that is so so much better than the down reg, and wont have to do that with a FET either. So NO to downreg for hopefully a long time, hopefully never again!!

John - to do travel transfers, not the uterus ones I am hoping haha!! Cant stay at Serum apartment but am happy enough with the air bnb, was just tricky sorting because I wasn't a member and had to do all the initial bits to join etc.

I think we ve got a pretty good chance it will work first time, as the odds are live birth rates rather than pregnancy, but yes nothing guaranteed.

The President Hotel has the rooftop pool doesn't it? Apparently I can drift in there to use the pool (prior to transfer) as long as I purchase a drink. I shall report back....

I ll have to sort this damn payment at bank tomorrow for blood sample. Nothing seemingly straightforward there. There seems to be a fixed way about paying for the treatment too, as like who has multiple thousands in cash to handover. Need to find out about that too.
