Oh and good luck Stork for your aquascan (what's an aquascan? Sorry!)

And good luck Mojito for your first appointment! It'll be fine - no need to be nervous, but please remember to take all the time you need, don't be hurried along, ask every question and get a really clear sense of the likely timetable.

Exciting times ladies! Flowers

Paws4thought4 · 30/08/2017 08:06

Good luck everyone! 🤞🤞🤞🤞
Little sleep, dead thirsty, tummy rumbling, inserting diclofac. - am ready to go lol x

Wonky35 · 30/08/2017 10:22

Good luck to everyone today! Seems like loads is happening. Fingers crossed for all.

I have my baseline scan tomorrow - thinking calming thoughts!

lovelymojitos · 30/08/2017 13:38

Am sat outside the clinic feeling nervous - too early as usual!
Thanks everyone and good luck to everyone for today!

Everhopeful76 · 30/08/2017 13:50

The scan isn't till next Thurs London, today is just the first day of DE cycle, and lots of medication and the bruise fest clexane injection. I had written it in a confusing way.

Paws4thought4 · 30/08/2017 14:50

Soooo I have 7 juicy eggs collected woo! But sore, home now and friend has bought lots of pig out food for the day lol.
Can't wait to find out how many have fertilised tomorrow!! Feels weird it's all out of my hands now! Wish I was there to see them mixing and making lol. X

Bear1980 · 30/08/2017 15:08

Thats great paws now is the tough part, waiting.

How did you get on mojitos? What treatment did they recommend?

My baseline went well, lining was thin and follicles looked fine so just waiting on call from clinic to say I can start meds tomorrow (at least I hope that is what they will say😬)

Paws4thought4 · 30/08/2017 15:21

Oh fab bear well done! So close, just next stage of stimms! Are you having ivf or iui??,x

Bear1980 · 30/08/2017 17:23

IUI - even better news is that my next scan & bloods is not until 8th September which is after the day that I am away. I am also off work from that day for a week so makes everything easier in terms of arranging appointments and getting to treatment. Big relief today. Start tablets tomorrow so hopefully IUI 11th / 12th September

TinyPaws · 30/08/2017 17:48

Had my follow up appointment after my HSG today. The doctor has recommended medicated IUI (apparently my cycle is too irregular for unmedicated). This was what I was planning to ask for anyway. I've been given the name of the donor coordinator and put on a waiting list for IUI with donor sperm... planning to give her a ring in the next few days to get some more info on next steps.

Who here has had medicated IUI? What was the process like?

Bear1980 · 30/08/2017 18:35

Glad your appointment went well tinypaws. I think there are variations of medicated IUI But they seem to follow a similar trend. Baseline scan at start of your cycle (usually day 1-3 I think) to check for a thin lining and no cysts, I then take letrozole for five days but others have taken stir so medication similar to what you get in IVF. You will then usually have a follow up scan or bloods or both a week later and the. The same every couple of days until you are ready for IUI procedure. I then take an injection to induce ovulation and IUI the following day.

Protocols generally vary clinic to clinic and person to person so they should explain all in more detail at your consent appointment. Are you getting any other tests?

Bear1980 · 30/08/2017 18:35

Question: has anyone take. Baby aspirin for IUI, if so what cycle days did you take it?

StorkAhoy · 30/08/2017 19:14

Hey ever this is fantastic news! So pleased for you! Omg it's all going on!

So I didnt speak with Penny, I got the lead consultant, Mr Douliatis I think it is, instead. Lovely chap, trained in England, very kind and funny. He wants me to send my essentials and wants re donors for donor embryos too, so that's interesting.

Aquascan was fine. Apparently I have a perfect uterus! And 20 follies growing on one side and 14 on the other, with a lovely triple lining at 5.9mm on cd9, and that's without meds! If only my eggs produced better embryos.
So just waiting for gross blood tests to come back and if clear then I'll be good to go.

I didn't get the blood tests today as they couldn't fit me in for them. So need to find a private lab or clinic to do them.. it's proving a bit of a mare to be honest!

snork hope transfer went well!

StorkAhoy · 30/08/2017 19:17

london it's a scan in 2 parts. 1) normal internal scan, with wand up the fanjo, 2) catheter and balloon inserted into uterus, balloon filled with water to see how the uterus contracts etc. Not fun, but I didn't find it painful.

ever clexane injection? What that now?!

Snorkmaiden85 · 30/08/2017 20:13

stork congratulations on your perfect uterus! Glad the aquascan went well and wasn't painful. Are the bloods something a helpful GP might do? Mine did most of mine for my clinic.

Bear great news! It's great when things just seem to coincidentally work out timing wise, isn't it? I've been so lucky with having the time off between my collection and transfer without having to take any days off. Don't want to go back to work tomorrow though! Seems stupidly mundane and pointless after my exciting week :)

Tiny great that things are moving forward for you too!

paws!!! my cycle buddy, well done on your collection! Not long to go now, and it's so great when they call and tell you. Fingers crossed for you, 7 is my lucky number :) Hope you're taking it easy and enjoying pigging out, I ordered a pizza the night of my EC and it tasted like the best pizza ever.

So I've got one of my little guys back on board! Thanks for all the good wishes :) It was amazing, a bit uncomfortable but so exciting to see my embryo on the screen (magnified) and then see it be implanted back in its home. All to the sounds of 'total eclipse of the heart' on the radio Grin

Now just more waiting!! Feeling OK about that now but imagine it might start to drag....

TurtleTree · 30/08/2017 20:31

Great news ever, sounds like things are meant to be!

Snork must be so exciting - I bet time will take forever to pass. I'm finding it is now and i haven't started any of the proper waiting things yet. Fingers crossed for you!

Good luck to everyone else as well, I can see there is a lot going on but I'm a bit behind on the thread.

ever I had my bloods done last week and they said will take about 4 weeks. Am off on hols this weekend so that will make time go a bit faster! Have the counselling session booked in for when I'm back as well - the telephone lady Wonky!

pickle162 · 30/08/2017 20:52

OMG snork my (fake) auntie told me the other day that she gave birth to her son to total eclipse of the heart 34 years or so ago! (I secretly LOVE that song, proper belter!)

Glad everything is going well for everyone and keeping up with you all but don't have huge energy to reply so sorry for not so individual replies

Bear my lovely best of luck, this is your time!!! X

lovelymojitos · 30/08/2017 21:12

So my initial appt went well today. Dr was nice and answered all my questions! He says the trouble with pcos is that it just messes up your response to meds so it's just more unpredictable. Told me about Inofolic a supplement for people with pcos who are ttc - poss helps weight loss?!!
Mentioned weight but didn't make a big thing of it, he's happy to get started when I am.
Quoted success rates of 8% per superovulation IUI cycle with 25% chance of multiples (eek!!) - does that correlate with what other people have been told.
Offered me an HSG but as chlamydia blood test neg (phew!) and no previous surgeries prob not needed in his opinion...
I need to read through the big pack he's given me then make another appt with hi. For planning appt.
I find it really hard to keep track of what everyone's doing, sorry!! Fingers crossed for your eggs paws

Everhopeful76 · 30/08/2017 22:19

Well done all today on our many appts, collection, transfer and I got thru day 1 of DE cycle commencement. I love taking 8 tablets per day but the highlight is Clexane stinger (and yes stork I am on them now - hate the buggers) And evidently for a whole month!!

I read the Consultants name as Doolally stork - that would be a worry would it not? Glad hes caring and funny. Your essentials am thinking your donor requirements? Hope your aquascan didn't take 50 mins like mine ahhh. I was told my uterus was looking good and recovered after c section surgery, so suppose that was a B on my anatomy report!

A friend has recommended a clinic for the lining scan, its called Cherish based in Sutton Coldfield so bit of a trek for you. I think I will go there rather than Concept as a lining scan is £80 versus £175. This was a recommendation from someone cycling at Serum. Care wont do them because not having full treatment protocol

So my period seems to have ground to a halt. Can the oestrogen tabs do this, I wonder? Not much I can do except hope for an avalanche overnight.

Snork* Total eclipse of the heart tunage... how funny!! I think at that point I might have started laughing.....at a similar moment when I noticed the speculum was tinged purple to match Concept's colour scheme, just before I had aquascan.

Hi tiny Hope you can get started with your medicated IUI. Havent had IUI treatment so cant really help you on the protocol but best of luck!
Glad your appointment went well Mojitos

StorkAhoy · 31/08/2017 08:48

Ever ha! no, doolally wouldn't be super!! SO I will be using Babybond again, they are very good, and used them when I was being treated in Wales. They are all over the place and is £65ish for a lining scan and theres one in MK, Bedford, Herts, etc.

So is AF has gone what does that mean? I imagine you'll be in contact with Serum later to check?!

And yes, essentials for a donor, which is odd considering that Embryo donation they are only supposed to match hair and skin tone, but he said that they do what they can, so I have sent in my 'needs and nice to haves'.

And I did not notice the purple Speculum! Such a shame.

Mine took about 35mins and I will say that I found it fascinating, with the 3d imaging of my bits and pieces!!

Wonky35 · 31/08/2017 09:06

I can't believe they match the speculums to the clinic colours!

You definitely have to be careful with music. Once had to do a crash Caesarian (woman was awake) and as the paediatricians were working on the really sick baby 'in the arms of the angels' came on the radio! Baby was fine thankfully.

Good news on the egg collection paws, fingers crossed for lots of fertilised ones today.

Am currently sitting in my car waiting to go in for my baseline scan. Got here stupidly early as was worried about traffic. Good news is that sperm has arrived from the US this morning so hopefully all set to get started.

Definitely speak to your clinic about stopped af ever. No idea what it means. You are going to be covered in bruises after a month of clexane.

The phone lady was very nice turtle. I got stuck at work the day I had my appointmen so ended up having my counselling on speaker phone, in my car, in the work car park!

Everhopeful76 · 31/08/2017 09:49

Oh Stork have you been to the Babybond clinic in MK? If you ve attended that one on a recommendation I ll go there as its cheaper and nearer than Birmingham. Good to know they ve asked for your "wish list". After AF arriving so early I was ready to opt for embryo adoption but by amazing synchronicity....

Now looking at flights on 12th September and planning to be out there for around 9 days. Just need a break and some sunshine!!

Arms of the Angels being played at a birth, oh my god I would be freaking out. Especially as I ve already lost a baby. Are you are a Anaethetist, Dr, Wonky? Hope your scan goes well

Sooo AF is back with a vengeance, currently in a lot of pain, so think am all good and can call off advice on that. It does do that sometimes, but am not usually dealing with day 3 pain to this extent - may mean it drags on for a couple more days so about right.

LondonGirl80 · 31/08/2017 09:59

So glad the mega-Wednesday went well - lots of appointments, scans, meds, collections and transfers! Well done everyone!

Tiny, just started my second round of medicated IUI last Friday. This is how round one (which didn't work, obvs...) went for me. I'm at the London Women's Clinic, using donor sperm from Xytex.

Pre-treatment: scan, order sperm, order meds, fill in 100s of documents, bloods, get a new smear as mine about to run out

Day 1 of period: starts in the evening, have to wait til the morning to call
Day 2 of period: call clinic, appointment scheduled for next day
Day 3 of period: scan, told to start Gonal F injections into tummy between 6-9pm every other evening
Days 5, 7, 9 - Gonal F injections
Day 10 - scan, follicles not quite 18mm yet so carry on
Days 11, 13 - Gonal F injections
Days 11, 12, 13 - ovulation test every morning (all negative - just a precaution in case I ovulated early and they had to bring IUI forward)
Day 14 - scan, follicle over 18mm, ovulation trigger injection into tummy that evening
Day 15 - IUI, start of the two week wait til I could do a pregnancy test. Progesterone pessary at 7.30 each evening (have to lie down for half an hour afterwards otherwise leaks!)

Hope that helps you work through likely timings / meds etc.

StorkAhoy · 31/08/2017 10:15

Ever yes, I have been to the Baby Bond in Stony Stratford, and the one in Mothercare in Bedford too.

I think its £90 for a baseline, then £65 ish for every other scan. But Id pay the extra as its so close by. (Sutton Coldfield is quite far away for me!) And ask them to put the report and images on a usb stick - not a CD! Also ensure you know exactly what the clinic wants - BabyBond said that sometimes its not very clear what actually is required - i.e. when they were doing my follicle counts they only tend to count the five biggest follies, where as CRGW wanted every follicle measured and accounted for.

Paws4thought4 · 31/08/2017 11:53

Sooo news this morning is that 4 eggs have been fertilised and the embryologist said he did it by icsi to give me the best possible chance! Yay!
Had a breif read of people's comments, bit sleepy today so day of sofa rest for me and films If can stay awake!
snorkPizza why didn't I think of pizza! Mum cooked me a lovely healthy meal of chicken and broccoli last night so will do a pizza tonight me thinks lol.
How are you feeling today snork post transfer? Would I be ok going to a wedding that eve after transfer? Knowing my luck it'll be the same day! Lol (obviously lots of sitting down not drinking and not dancing) but want to see my friend get hitched if I can xx

So interesting how the protocol and drugs etc so different from iui to ivf and different clinics too!
Hope everyone's well xx
