Haha why didn't I know that before! My sister would love it, she loves coming over and squeezing black heads lol.

Yes very true pickle you have had a positive and a scan just got to get on with things now.
Hope your sickness doesn't last two long xx

pickle162 · 25/08/2017 20:01

I felt good up until 5 wk+4 and then started feeling a bit more tired and a bit ropey but it was 6wks on the dot that boom felt like poop but not everyone gets morning sickness so u may be lucky (& I'll be very very jealous) so nice we are only 2 weeks apart
17 days till my midwife appointment and prob about same time again until my 12 week scan

TurtleTree · 25/08/2017 21:16

I can't believe there's a big enough crowd to convene in a corner re Spooners. Urgh!

Sorry you're feeling icky pickle but all part of the process I guess.

Can I ask about 5+2 - I can't remember if I read on here or elsewhere on the net that the count starts from first day of your period, not the 2 weeks later that the egg actually fertilises. So are you girls counting from your procedure date or the 'official' date which is earlier?

The more I read about pregnancy the less I feel I know!

Had my main consult today, doc mostly only told me things I already knew (too much research been going on!) but got bloods done and once they are back the fun can properly start. As I'm doing an egg share programme I have to write a letter to any future children born using my eggs - feeling the pressure! No idea what to write.

Wish4Future · 25/08/2017 21:36

turtle you count from the first day of your cycle. My cycle started on 20 July, IUI was 2 August, and BFP was 17 August. So, I'm 5 weeks and 2 days because that's when my cycle began. It's all rather weird!

pickle162 · 25/08/2017 21:40

I got the letter from the donor daddy, it's so lovely. He talks about him & his family and what he likes doing, why he donated, and a direct bit of advice to the baby...hope that helps.

Yeh it gets counted in theory from 1st day of last period but if like me your cycle was medically enhanced and much longer than it should have been they take it from 2 weeks before the iui.....which gets confusing when you fill out midwife form as had to explain that last period was x date but had iui on x day so to ignore their usual calculations

Ah it's a minefield turtle, you think you know something and then turns out u don't

StorkAhoy · 25/08/2017 22:03

Ah pickle so cute!

ever, eeeeek, it's happening for you! Yes, Penny on Tuesday, acquascan on Wednesday and tomorrow I have to send off the little container in my fridge to Greece for the double infection testing.....so gross!

Paws4thought4 · 25/08/2017 23:25

That is so strange that they do it from your last period and not insemination or egg collection! That doesn't make sense lol.?!

Ah that's nice you got letter from he donor daddy, I don't think they do that at my clinic 😕

Everhopeful76 · 25/08/2017 23:29

Stork you may be asked what the sample is but send it via Royal Mail otherwise you re looking at £70. I posted mine on Monday. One of the ladies had been talking to, said she told the PO that it was an ornament. Great to have that on your mantel. Was so gross wasn't it, I had to squeeze it out of a li-let, didn't fancy the mooncup as a one off!
So are you going on the next cycle immediately after the aquascan?
I have been reassured that as soon as my period starts there shouldn't be too much of delay. I was thinking what if the donor's doesn't start for 3w!! She knows am not keen to go into Oct!! FX'd xx

pickle162 · 26/08/2017 07:03

Yeh paws the whole 40weeks pregnancy is just a lie but it's how everyone's is worked out. It's quite nice really as you got from being not pregnant (or not knowing you are) to around 4weeks after one simple test

Eek stork and ever it's getting so close for you now :) ever sure they will do what they can so not to clash with angel baby anniversary x

kwick · 26/08/2017 08:13

paws sporners corner (as in porn with an S in front): there is a section in MN dedicated to wierdos like moi that like to squeeze spots and the like Grin
Yes always organic if you can. The pesticides used in non-organic are more easily absorbed by your body through fat. So if you are having blue non-organic milk most of the goodness of calcium and a great protein source will be outweighed by the nasty crap you are ingesting.

You do raise a really good point- I know I will have to sacrifice some of my weightloss for fertility friendly foods like extra milk and avocado. My food as been fairly healthy on SW but I have definitely avoided 🥑

Off for Saturday morning outdoor swim 🏊🏻

Happy bank holiday weekend everyone!

Hi all, Can I jump on board please? I've been watching the board with interest for a few weeks. Congratulations on the bfp's!!

I'm 37, single and have my first appt with the fertility clinic on weds...eeeek!! I've been thinking about it for so long and getting impatient but now it's actually starting I'm getting freaked out!!

I've been working on getting my weight down - now a few lbs off BMI 35 - has anyone's clinic's been very hardline about BMI?

Does anyone know if pcos affects iui? Im thinking about going straight for medicated iui as for the money this seems to have the best chances...did anyone go straight for this or did you give unmediated a go?

Paws4thought4 · 26/08/2017 10:54

Welcome mojitos is a lovely group lots of wonderful girls with help and advice.

I don't know about the pcos but I'm sure someone else will know.

Exciting! Have you had your amh done yet or are you just trying to get weight down before you go?
My clinic asked my weight but didn't comment on it or say about bmi which I know is overweight!

I wanted to go for iui but my amh was too low. X

Paws4thought4 · 26/08/2017 10:58

Thanks kwick it's hard isn't it especially when you're not used to be good like me lol. I blame my hormones!
I jest such mixed stories about avocados - good/bad for you, I've found my new love for them, but trying to limit myself lol.
I'm going through a determined stage now for this last push to boost my follicles. Healthy shake and now off for brisk walk and swim.
Have a fab long weekend everyone. I've got my mum round to help move sofas and big furniture before I can't anymore! Eek xx

Snorkmaiden85 · 26/08/2017 11:08

Hi all!

So I had my egg collection yesterday and they got 22 eggs!! Just waiting for the clinic to call to tell me how many fertilised, eeek...

paws how is your cycle going? You must not be far behind me! My first stimulation scan didn't show a lot of growth but it all started to happen in the second week of gonal F (and oh boy could I feel it), so fingers crossed for you :)

Welcome mojitos! I'm not sure about pcos and iui either I'm afraid, but I'm sure the clinic will be able to advise. I know that mild ivf can be a good option with pcos. Hope your appointment goes well, I know what it feels like to have been thinking/waiting for ages, but it to also feel quite soon! I started this process in January and have been so frustrated by delays, but still can't quite believe it's all actually happening!

Paws4thought4 · 26/08/2017 11:32

Oh wow that's loads snork! How are you feeling? Do you have to take it easy now for a few days?
My egg collection is predicted weds/fri!
Yes started to feel it in my body today so hoping things are started to grow and multiply more now, bit disheartened with that first scan. But feeling determined and positive today!

X

Paws4thought4 · 26/08/2017 11:33

Ps fingers crossed for you! Did they say when they'll first calm you? I paid a bit extra for my own incubator with a camera lol x

Paws4thought4 · 26/08/2017 11:41

*call you! Not calm lol x

LRDtheFeministDragon · 26/08/2017 11:51

Just clicked on this thread to catch up (still waiting for my cyst op before we can try again) - and how lovely to see your scan photo, pickle! That made me well up a bit. So lovely.

Wish4Future · 26/08/2017 15:12

Hi mojitos I can't help with the PCOS, however I did a medicated IUI as first treatment and was lucky enough to fall pregnant and am now 5 weeks along. My BMI is well over 35, closer to 45, but my clinic didn't have an issue as they were more concerned with my overall health, which is good!

AFM, this spotting is still ongoing, which is frustrating. Im readt for it to leave now! It gets lighter and I think it's stopping and then it just gets heavier again. Been a week now, but it's still brown rather than pink or red so I'm told this is nothing to worry about! I'm sure it's ok but I'd still rather it would stop! Xx

StorkAhoy · 26/08/2017 19:13

ever just read your post and ha ha ha, I said it was an ornament too! A gross ornament obviously...!

I'm hoping it'll be my sept period, so first 2wks of October, Although I'm still unsure what day of cycle transfer would actually be, I'm hoping I can get that info on Tuesday!

I'm hoping you can crack right on after your AF too. Xoxoxox

lovelymojitos · 26/08/2017 20:14

Thanks everyone for the welcome...it's nice to know that other people are going through similar...
paws my AMH was high at 41 but I know pcos can increase it so hard to know what this means! Good to hear re the weight thing.
I'll let you know how I get on with the consultant on weds - apparently his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired but no other choice at my clinic.
I'm so excited that I could be having a baby in 2018!!
Most of my friends have babies and toddlers and I love spending time with them but it does make me mega broody!!

TurtleTree · 26/08/2017 20:28

Wow Snork that's an amazing amount of eggs. What a good chicken you are!

Welcome to the thread mojitos! I'm no expert but I was told that if PCOS was causing irregular periods then they'd recommend going straight to medicated so that you know when ovulation is happening. Also with PCOS sometimes you can have a period without actually releasing an egg so medication would be a safer bet in that instance. I expect it all depends on individuals though.

pickle162 · 26/08/2017 21:08

Mojito welcome :) I went straight for medicated, I had an AMH of 9 but my clinic said medicated was best option for me so I did it and got lucky on 2nd attempt. There is a lot more control with medicated cycle so I found it much easier to plan around work

LRD thank you so much lovely! Hope your cyst gets sorted soon.

Wish sorry the spotting is still there must be so worrying

Congratulations snork, hopefully your future baby is in the making :)

Stork Hope your package went off with no problems lol

lovelymojitos · 26/08/2017 21:11

Thanks for the info turtle and pickle. I guess it makes sense they'd suggest straight to medicated to try and control my crazy ovaries...

Paws4thought4 · 27/08/2017 08:19

Gosh snork boy am I feeling those injections now! Felt like I had to hold my belly walking around town yesterday and that I was already pregnant! Let's hope they're doing their magic and multiplying x

Hope you're spotting eases soon wish if the clinic said it's ok then it's ok try to relax as hard as it is. I'll probably be a worries wreck in your situation too x
