Pez - bless you 😂 Phantom wisdom teeth!! Mine are definitely gone and I have the pain to prove it 😩

Good luck today Kwick and LRD Flowers

Paisley yay! That's great news and sounds like a really positive experience... Here's to the TWOT! X

kwick · 08/05/2017 14:23

Great news @PaisleyBE !!!
You should eat the pineapple - not drink juice - as you need to eat the core, which has the all important supplement in it. When you get back to UK but a fresh pineapple 🍍 and peel it and divide into 5 and then eat a fifth each day.
I am not sure how much good it does - but like all things on my "patent pending" 2WW list - it us about feeling I am able to add something to the process - if it "works" then yay! if it does not then it was not meant to be but not my fault.

Okay so a bit of a hectic afternoon - including IVI appointment, trip to A&E to make sure mum ok and now on bus to go to new Slimming World group!!

Appointment at IVI went well:

  • consultant VERY friendly, articulate and positive
  • had scan done
  • had bloods taken and - wait for it - she will ring me with results on Wednesday (nurses do this in CRGH)
  • we spoke about different routes for donor egg treatment eg UK vs Spain
  • am going to get CRGH medical records which she will use to provide opinion but given what I told her and my age donor egg/embryo looks like way forward
  • BMI may be an issue but she is going to check for Spain
  • she advised me to contact Donor Conception Network - as most recent research suggests that Mum that carries baby plays a much bigger role than they first thought
  • all in all a very positive discussion
  • she said she would send me a follow-up email - I already have it!!!!
  • next steps: blood results on Wednesday, appt with Donor coordinator, then nurse appt for consents etc
But will most likely need to lose a shed load of weight before can start treatment.

Slimming World here I come!!!!

Very annoying about the weight but glad everything else really positive :)

CautionHormone · 08/05/2017 18:20

Kwick, sounds like you had a great consult with IVI. Massive pain in the ass about the weight, though! Glad it was all positive. X

PhoenixMama · 08/05/2017 19:18

That sounds really positive Kwik! So nice when you feel listened to & heard!

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/05/2017 20:46

Thanks everyone for the good wishes! It's really lovely to have you lot here.

kwick, so glad the consultant was nice. I can see the weight thing is annoying, but it sounds as if she's being very proactive about getting everything sorted for you, so that's great.

paisley - ooh! Happy waiting. Smile

Very long day here. Went to the hospital, then to the clinic, then back to the hospital and just got home an hour ago. I have:

  • got my CMV test back, and it's negative, but they agreed I can use the same CMV positive sperm my DP used as there's such a shortage of negative donors.
  • got the clinic's conditional ok to start trying this cycle so long as my period didn't start by 5pm today.
  • picked up my gonal-f (yay!).
  • had a shitload of bloods taken on the NHS, rush order, at 8.30am.
  • saw the consultant with the blood results in the evening, who's given me the paperwork proving I've no blockages in my tubes so I can definitely get treated at the clinic.
  • got diagnosed with PCOS.
  • got a plan for NHS follow-up of any pregnancy or miscarriage mapped out.
  • got a load of bloods back that show I'm basically in good health.

I'm now just waiting on a repeat test for sticky blood, which doesn't affect whether or not I can try this cycle, only how they treat me during it. And no period yet! So ... tentatively, it looks as if everything's gone from 'ooh, you could try sometime in June' last week to 'now, now, now' this week!

God I'm bloody shattered. Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/05/2017 20:55

(Plus I got an email in the middle of all of this from my editor saying she's recommending I get a book contract from her editorial board - yay! Not TTC related but a much-needed bit of good news at the point in the day when the clinic was saying I couldn't use the same sperm, before they changed their minds.)

pickle162 · 08/05/2017 20:56

Ooh LRD hope you can start this month :) think our shoes had problem with blood but can't quite remember what. When will you find out if you can get going this week?

Ooh just seen on hollyoaks kiwi is meant to be good for fertility-might have to pick some of them up along with the pineapple when next at shops this week.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/05/2017 21:13

I can start as soon as my period starts. Probably tomorrow. It's clearly on the way. I just had about 5 things to tick off before they'd let me start, and somehow they all came together today! With a lot of racing around, rush bloods and faxing things. The NHS consultant was so lovely, though - she was really reassuring.

The blood problem is just something they either need to treat, or don't - it doesn't make a different to me being allowed to start.

Will pick up some kiwi! Let's start a rush on it in the shops. Grin

pickle162 · 08/05/2017 21:19

There is enough of us this month ttc to increase the kiwi 🥝 sales in the U.K. 😂
You must be so excited (&shattered) with all the emotions! So altho the tests were done with NHS are you still having private iui treatment?

Bear1980 · 08/05/2017 21:26

Wow that all moved rally fast LRD happy days Grin

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/05/2017 21:27

Yes, very excited and very shattered! Grin

And yes - private treatment. I feel so lucky to get the NHS testing. I had no idea it was available, and especially as I have a DD who is biologically my DP's baby. I didn't even know if they treated lesbian couples for this sort of thing (because you can't exactly ask people to TTC for two years! Grin). So I got referred to the NHS by my clinic and now I'm back to the clinic again.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 08/05/2017 21:27

bear - yep, it did! Could all go very slow now, though, so I shall let myself be very excited for a few hours and then I will calm down and be sensible.

StorkAhoy · 08/05/2017 21:36

caution I'm starting in June's cycle.

kwick so great ivi is proving a positive experience I hope this is the one for you. And yay to SW! I too am loving a bit more care and attention! I sent CRGW an email at 5:30 on Sunday, the consultant replied st 7:30 on Sunday. Amazing dedication!

hopingandwaiting · 09/05/2017 05:33

Goodness me, it's been an age since I last posted, and I've completely lost track of where everyone is up to and how many newbies there have been since I was last on!

shoes so so many congratulations - I hope all is well and you are thoroughly enjoying this time getting to know the new tiny person you have created!!

For everyone else, good luck with all of the wonderful BFPs I've glimpsed on my brief scan of the threads, and for anyone in the TWW I wish you all the best Smile

kwick · 09/05/2017 08:20

Wow @LRDtheFeministDragon talk about #makeithappen!!!
I hope you can start this cycle! Well done on book news!!!

Also - I just realised that this time last year I was in my TWW and now I have a little guy laying next to me babbling nonsense at the ceiling & waving his legs about whilst I try and come to enough to go and make another cup of tea!

You got this ladies!!

pickle162 · 09/05/2017 08:47

Awe that's so lovely hoping Smile are you enjoying being a mummy? How is life as a single parent-can we reassure people that we can do it?

hopingandwaiting · 09/05/2017 08:59

Being a mummy is excellent. Exhausting, terrifying and utterly wonderful. Unfortunately I can't reassure you as a single mum as I'm in this with my wife, however, having seen the determination that you ladies have all got I know that you'll be fantastic. Whilst there will be hard moments, they are just that, moments, & they will pass and be outweighed by the all the joys motherhood brings. However, don't ever expect time to use a hairdryer again, and remember that having a wash of the important parts with a babywipe works just as well as a bath when you're in a rush (for you - the baby is always bathed!!) Grin

pickle162 · 09/05/2017 09:47

Ooh yes sorry I forgot what your circumstances were :)
