I've googled a bit it does seem the fœtus would pump all my thyroxine. Luckily I had already moved to 50mcg after my scan. 100mcg is 4 times what I was initially on!
I'll ask the midwife to redo the bloods when I see her on 16th May. I'm not going to google further as I don't want to start to worry about possible implications on brain development Confused

What's the problem with Cryos? What can't they ship the potion in time??

Everhopeful76 · 05/05/2017 13:50

Well first probl is their website is down I think because tried on 3 separate devices and still not able to get past the front screen. She has sensed the urgency and has said I can email details over and she ll sort and the late fee won't b levied but it still has to get there for Monday as says the clinic. However the embryologist who knows my case does not work Fridays and the bank want to get approval before they send the tank over. I thought my clinic had been talking to cryos so they were satisfied I could use donor as per the pregnancy slots allowed but it seems that embryologist had just sought advice from hfea adviser and had not rung them at all

So it's all imcompetence, miscommunication and me being the pawn on a super sized chess board.

I am ordering and hoping FC will accept the next uk delivery which I believe is a week on Monday. If they don't am going to have to kick up a stink again.

witchmountain · 05/05/2017 14:01

Hope all goes well today Shoes!

Welcome, Amanda! I'm also going to assume you will be using an egg donor as it would be so lucky for your own eggs to work at 46, but I offer the same apologies if that isn't your plan and it's an insensitive assumption. I used LWC (the London branch) and was very happy with them. I also have a colleague who used them with his wife, who needed an egg donor (due to age). They initially assumed they would need to use a Spanish clinic to get a genetic resemblance as she is from a Mediterranean country, but actually LWC found them a donor and it was successful.

Snork I get the plan change would be weird but honestly, unless you're rolling I cash, I'd do IVF. Especially if you think you might want more than one. Obviously some people get pregnant within the first two or three rounds of IUI but statistically it's not that likely. But give yourself some time to think about it, because it needs to be what makes the most sense to you, which might be IUI. Try and get clear about what the risks of the procedure are, e.g. it's not going to be a re-run of when you were 8 (I mean that kindly! I vividly remember being in hospital when I was 4 and it was probably only one night but it was horrible). Obviously IVF is no guarantee but if they can get a few embryos which should be possible at your age then you've got several tries.

Pez and Ever, so sorry there is more drama. What's the shipping issue - you don't need it for ages yet?!

witchmountain · 05/05/2017 14:09

Crosspost ever, what a nightmare. The litany of administrative and communication errors is almost worse because it could be so easily avoided!

CherryBlossom100 · 05/05/2017 20:13

Pez, I am exactly the same for thyroid function. Started on 25mg. Fertility clinic upped me just before I conceived to 50mg. I asked my gp for a blood test at 5 weeks and had to tell them that the guidance said dosage should be increased so I went up to 75mg.
When I first phoned the midwife to book in at 8 weeks, I told them about my under-active thyroid and they arranged a consultant appointment at the hospital the next week where I had a blood test and was upped again to 100mg. That was at 9 weeks. I have another blood test next week. I'm sure you should be under consultant care rather than gp as the gps are useless with this.
Also try not to worry about that tsh level as it isn't that high and it's only been a couple of weeks. Baby will be taking all of your thyroid hormone, leaving you with less. I've heard of cases where tsh was above 11 and baby was fine. Hope this helps.

StorkAhoy · 05/05/2017 20:16

snork re ivf, I second what witch said. I had planned on doing iui, as all that was missing was a guy right? But no, the consultant said little point in iuike waste of money, so go straight to ivf. It wasn't my original plan, but why waste money just because I had an idea of the outcome.
Preparing for my third ivf round now, and this sure isn't what I imagined in terms of my difficulty to get pregnant or produce freezeable embryos! But hey ho!

welcome amanda! Again, assuming you're thinking double donor, my plan is to do this if my next ivf doesn't work. My plan would be to go to Cyprus s for double donor, I prefer anonymity. However, if you want uk, have you thought about embryo donation? Check out the midland fertility clinic as they do it.

Littleshoes arrived safely today weighing 6lb 12oz and turns out she's a girl! I was very surprised! No name as yet but I just wanted to let you know that all is well. All your support over the past months has been very much appreciated Smile

Pez82 · 05/05/2017 21:01

Thank you Cherry, it does help. I will take 100mcg until I see the midwife and then see if she can refer me to a consultant. How are you feeling?

For the record, whoever called morning sickness as such got it soooo wrong!!!

pickle162 · 06/05/2017 10:21

Hi all,

Happy weekend!
Soooo I survived my injections at the theatre last night, they gave us a lovely room with private loo with a plush towel and molton brown products so we didn't have to queue for the normal loos. I was shaking so much cos of the adrenaline but was better with the Menopur mixing and drawing up of the liquid and was only 5mins late :)

Need to try and catch up with all posts so sorry if I miss anything
Ever didn't really get why donor bank couldn't deliver in time-surely they deliver to uk regularly and you don't need it just yet anyway do you? As I keep telling myself I can deal with all the stress/mess ups etc leading up to procedure if it means procedure will work. Keep that resilience up

Snorkmaiden85 · 06/05/2017 12:03

Little shoes!! Congratulations shoes, that's wonderful news :) Will look forward to hearing her name and more about her. Hope you're both doing brilliantly.

pez Hope you are feeling OK, what with stress and sickness!! Sounds a good idea to avoid the temptation of Google.

My latest update is that I now have my AMH results - 13.5. I can't quite work out if that's good for my age (32) or not but the consultant said he was happy with it, and that with that and follicles etc he saw on the scan, no reason not to give IUI a try. He kept saying "as you've never been exposed to sperm", had to resist the temptation to say "I can assure you I have!" But I know what he meant :)

After talking to him I feel more like I want to go ahead with the laparoscopy, I'm on my way to my parents to talk it through with them and discuss costs. I think I just feel like I would rather know what's going on in there, if I skip straight to ivf I won't find out whether IUI could have worked, or if I do meet someone in the future, whether I may be able to conceive a child naturally. Also I have been wondering for a while about endometriosis, so I can ask them to look at that too. My consultant said that all being well there wouldn't be a long recovery time before doing an IUI cycle so that's reassured me too.

I think I'm going to go ahead with the pre-op consulation in a couple of weeks and review then. Thanks so much all for your perspectives! Witch, thank you also for being sensitive to my hospital trauma! I honestly don't think it can be anything like before - I was in for a month, mostly nil by mouth, had two invasive surgeries, some mean nurses who didn't believe how ill I was and treated me like a bratty kid, and my dad hardly came to the hospital but kept having a go at my mum about her handling it all wrong. I massively picked up on all of this and for YEARS afterwards thought it was all my fault and felt guilty/ that I must have behaved really badly to have everyone seem so mad at me, it's only now I'm an adult that I can see it differently! AND it was in the Summer holidays!! Figure it can't possibly be that bad!

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. Ever I really hope you can have a relatively relaxing one after your week! And that the bank come through for you with your order. What a palava!!!

Snorkmaiden85 · 06/05/2017 12:05

Ps pickle forgot to say we do seem to have the same brain chemistry! Over thinkers unite :) Really glad to hear the theatre treated you so well, how nice of them. Hope you had a fab time x

StorkAhoy · 06/05/2017 12:10

I'm in wales! Took 3 hours door to door with a 10min service station break! Hotel is within walking distance, which is great news, and the clinic is next door to the Royal Glamorgan hospital. Basically I'm getting good vibes people!!

pickle162 · 06/05/2017 12:12

My AMH was 9 I'm 33, altho convinced it would have been slightly higher had I been off the pill for longer but my consultant wasn't too worried about it-said between something like 6.5-17 is absolutely fine (I can't remember exact values now) but were happy for me to do iui but not egg share ivf because potentially wouldn't have enough eggs to share.
So minus my waffle would say 13.5 pretty good.
It sounds like you have your mind made up about what to do next :) if it feels right then go for it 😊we will all be right behind you whatever you decide

I keep feel like I'm in the trying mode already but then realise still another 9days ish till I start that little adventure.

Snorkmaiden85 · 06/05/2017 12:14

Thanks pickle Smile 9 days! You must be champing at the bit to get started!

pickle162 · 06/05/2017 12:14

@Snorkmaiden85 definite high five for finding someone that gets how my silly brain works

Ooh @StorkAhoy pleased you are there and made it in reasonable time. What time is your appointment? Can't wait to hear all about it
