Hello, I'm a single mum (going through divorce) just wondering if there are any others like me out there that just want to chat in the evening after the kids have gone to bed. I feel very lonely.
Please come and say hi.

Did you go for your nice long walk?

westernchampion · 20/01/2019 18:42

Yea I walk a fair bit but not usually for hours, last week was an exception.

Frickssake · 21/01/2019 15:04

Good afternoon. Started my new job ( well "training' today for 3 days ) bank staff for a nursery. Does anyone know if you only work 5 hours a day whether you're entitled to a break - I thought it was 4 or more but they told me at the nursery it's changed to 6 before you're entitled to a break ). Ready for my lunch now!

westernchampion · 21/01/2019 15:23

Last time I looked into it, it was 5 hours but not 6. So if you work 5 hours you then have to take a break or end you shift. I'm sure it's not changed but I would have to check.

Thanks

How are you all? Busy week?
Have just started ( this week ) "induction" at a children's centre. Bloody knackered TBH! ( Induction is supposed to be on the job training - I seem to be doing everything all the regular staff are doing the only difference seems to be that I'm not allowed to be left with the children...)
I have 3 children myself and volunteered in a school nursery whilst I went to college and got my level 3 so have a bit of experience plus several DBS's. ( Sorry if it does like a rant btw,)

westernchampion · 22/01/2019 17:34

Hi frickssake. Boy your name is difficult to type. Nice to hear from you. It's always a bit odd the first week in a new job. Don't worry about having a rant. I could rant all day given half the chance.lol

Frickssake · 22/01/2019 20:29

Oh that's made me feel slightly better western. Thanks.
How is your week so far?

westernchampion · 22/01/2019 20:45

I'm doing alright, I try to keep positive which wasn't easy to start with but I'm getting there. Back to work tomorrow after 2 weeks off so that will be good for a distraction.

Frickssake · 22/01/2019 21:09

Good work-keep it up.
I'm sort of sometimes employed ( work for an agency ) and it's really easy to feel isolated and start feeling depressed and alone ( I wrote the book !). Apparently Monday was Blue Monday - the most depressing day of the year. So at least that's over with! Onwards and upwards! We can do this!

westernchampion · 22/01/2019 21:29

Yes sounds like we both have the same outlook. We can cheer each other up lol

Frickssake · 23/01/2019 17:39

Hi how was your day?
Today was supposed to be my last induction day. Was thinking I'd have a day off tomorrow as they asked me to do M/T/W so I booked aquafit class for tomorrow. ( trying to get fit but failing badly). They asked me today if I can go in tomorrow and do safeguarding and policies and I thought at least it gets everything out of the way so said yes.
I have sciatica and it's hurting a lot. The class might've helped. Just want a hot bath and bed. However we have a taster Karate class at 6, then I remembered I'd invited my friend tonight ( only see her every few weeks so would be rude to cancel).

westernchampion · 23/01/2019 19:07

Sounds like a busy day there. And I thought I filling my days, been swimming and the gym today. Karate sounds good. I'd like to do some boxing, not in a ring just hitting the big padded thing I reckon it would be good for releasing tension.lol

Frickssake · 23/01/2019 19:33

Duh! Got the wrong day! 1st session is 6th February!

westernchampion · 23/01/2019 19:45

Got a couple weeks yet then. I like to arrive early but 2 weeks is a bit too early 😆

Frickssake · 23/01/2019 21:06

Tell me about it! One excited 5 year old and one grumpy mum on a dark freezing night walking to a deserted community centre don't mix!

Ah well - in the warm now 😃

westernchampion · 23/01/2019 21:33

I can well imagine. Did you still manage to meet with your friend?

Frickssake · 24/01/2019 06:20

Yes she came around fur a bit. Thanks for asking. Do you swim and 'gym' often?

westernchampion · 24/01/2019 07:29

I've only been going a couple weeks in that time I've been 4 times, going again tomorrow after work. I like to take the kids swimming twice a month because they love it.

Frickssake · 24/01/2019 17:16

Mine does too. Though we tend to go on the weekends her dad doesn't have her or school holidays.

Hope your day was ok- might have an interview next week so I'll.have to make a decision soon if I get it. Option 1 agency work - sporadic. Option 2 Session worker at children's centre - again can be sporadic. Option 3 Six month fixed contract part time position.....hmmmm WWYD

westernchampion · 24/01/2019 17:35

Does wwyd mean what would you do?

cookiemon666 · 24/01/2019 18:42

Hi, I'm a single parent to 4. Been divorced nearly 2 years. Work part time as a nurse

westernchampion · 24/01/2019 18:52

Frickssake · 24/01/2019 18:55
