I was going to have lunch with a friend today who suggested weatherspoons (cheap and cheerful). I could not believe that their 3 small plates have increased from £10 to £15! Which led me onto thinking what else has jumped up a considerable amount product wise! We shop at Aldi so I haven't noticed a big difference YET.

Lurpak!

12 pouches of cat food in Tesco (own brand.) £2.25 to £3.60 now I think.

Spotted in my local co-op. They're not even the seasonal variety of French fancies. £3!

Bisto was £3 for a small tub in Asda today. Needless to say, I bought own brand.

I tried to find some Mr Kiplings on offer when I had friends coming over as previously there was always something on offer for a decent price. Nothing. No way was I paying £2.50-£3.00.

OliverBabish · 28/02/2023 19:11

Morrison’s own brand hazelnut spread. Was 85p, now £1.15. I know it’s not an essential and I feel really tight for noticing but yeah - wtf

SpyouttheLand · 28/02/2023 19:12

Whether spoons pricing has always varied according to where you are. The same menu but different prices if you're in a more expensive location, so it might be that you're not comparing like with like.

For me it's the dental hygienist. £50 the day before lockdown. £89 when I returned and £95 now.

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 28/02/2023 19:13

You must be joking about not noticing Aldi price increases. Some things are so expensive in there now. Waitrose is actually cheaper on some items at the moment! I was truly shocked in Aldi.

I've been addicted to Kelloggs All Bran since Wham were in the charts. Currently riding at a mind boggling 3.30 per box.

Obstackle · 28/02/2023 19:14

Olive oil. £5.10 for a litre of Tesco own brand. Not even extra virgin!

halfsiesonapotnoodle · 28/02/2023 19:14

Kitchen roll. Over £5 for 4.

Dontknownow86 · 28/02/2023 19:15

A basic block of butter. You struggle to get one for £2 now even buying the basic own brand. Used to be able to get it for about £1.30 so a massive increase percentage wise.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 28/02/2023 19:18

OXO cubes- £4 for a box. Daylight robbery.

lovemycbf · 28/02/2023 19:20

Soda crystals 80p a couple of weeks ago today £1.70

BigMadAdrian · 28/02/2023 19:20

Heinz crap ravioli in a tin (guilty pleasure) is £2.20 a tin now! I know it's a silly example really, as it's hardly a staple, but that was my go to cheapo lunch when I was a student and it now seems quite expensive for what is surely the most grisly bits of the cow. I think Heniz baked beans are at least £1 now too. I might need to drop my Heinz habit.

ByeByeLouisByeByeKlaus · 28/02/2023 19:21

Cat litter! The catsan has jumped to £17 😵‍💫

Littlessweepy · 28/02/2023 19:22

Yes to olive oil. Also I paid over £15 for a pack of 4 chicken breasts in sainsburys at the weekend. Free range and organic but still!!!
